Some of us still haven't recovered from that....
Not in order of timeline but I would include straight away names and faces such as Tanya Roberts, Halle Berry, Denise Richards, can we include Madonna as no-one has mentioned it, 30 second cameo or not you should not have been there or your god awful tune either, Lana Wood gets on my nerves more often than not whenever I get a chance to see Diamonds so she can go too, Lois Chiles, Julian Glover, Grace Jones, that guy out of Reservoir Dogs, Berry again if I haven't mentioned her, Johnathan Pryce, Mads Mikkelsen, half the personnel of QOS, Honor Blackman not sure about her but I always found her somewhat dull, Diamonds Blofeld, Maud Adams in TMWTGG and last but not least Kurt Jurgens in the next release, he was somewhat banal and lifeless as that years Bond' nemesis
Rick Van Nutter
Britt Ekland (note the sixties got most of the casting perfect)
Talisa Soto
Teri Hatcher
Jonathan Pryce
Robert Carlyle
Denise Richards
Michael Madsen
Halle Berry
Toby Stephens
Madonna
And finally..
and this one is going to send everyone into apoplexy......but I dont find him very menacing and has the charisma of a bowl of porridge..
....Sean Bean.
double post
.
Of course, a great actor can take a standard part and elevate it through their charisma and personality (say, Topol in FYEO or Pedro A in FRWL). But given the lines some actors were given to say and their direction I don't think that they ever had a chance (I'm looking at you, Halle).
Halle Berry
Teri Hatcher
Goldie
Maryam D'Arbo
(and cue the hate) Gert Frobe
Perhaps you're right. I prefer it when they cast relative unknowns as Bond girls though.
Surely all the awful actors in the Bond series are too long list fully. Obviously Pierce is at the top, but where does it end? Frankly Ursula Undress is pretty godawful in Dr. No. It started that early. What about John Cleese as Q - that was awful.
I can't buy into the fact that Honey Ryder is 'pretty godawful' in the first outing, well I found her sexy, cute and attractive and, well for me she's one of the most iconic and best loved Bond women of the series.
Cleese' Q, could never replicate what Llewelyn ever gave us, it was such big shoes to fill, and sometimes you can't get past it's Mr Fawlty Towers on screen, but I think in hindsight it was an adequate enough replacement, I sincerely wish they had kept with him for Skyfall rather than bringing in some kid in that Q capacity
I think that Cleese's take on Q is a perfect example of how a good actor can be stymied by the writing and direction. Compare his performance in TWINE versus DAD. While many despise DAD and Tamahori I think that a lot of people would admit that Cleese's performance as Q was much better in DAD, and especially light years ahead of him basically playing Basil Fawlty or "John Cleese" in TWINE.
Tanya Roberts as worst actress comes to mind, alothough she looks fantastic!
Madonna in DAD, Denise Richards. Worst actor, apart from Roger Moore would possibly have to go to the guy who played Elvis in QOS. Meant to be a henchmen? My late Gran would have been more threatening! The series has been renowned for employing top rate actors in poorly written roles ie Charles Gray as a cross-dressing Blofeld(Fleming would be spinning!), Matthiew Amalric in QOS, Jonathon Pryce in TND (no wonder Tony Hopkins abandoned ship!)
Uh, the girls of CR, in most opinions, were the best part of Casino Royale. Eva had something unique (intelligence and attitude) that made Bond fall in love with her, unlike the other skanky girls.
Solange brought in the blatant sexy Bond girl element, and was perfect as that.
But agree to disagree :)
X_X I find this astonishing. In my opinion, these three represent some of the very best we've seen in the last 50 years. A time of true greats. Comparing them to the likes of Hale Berry and John Terry's performance is ridiculous.
I think we can all here confirm Bond won't end up with Helen McCrory...
Thats the whole point. Though I do find him pretty insignificant, I don't think he was ever meant to be a feared 'henchman' anyway. From the way other characters behave around him (the way they talk, treat and even look at him) he's obviously more of a tag-along member of Quantum who Greene feels obliged to look after out of family/friendship ties.
Yes i kind of comparing Luciana Paluzzi with Halle Barrey but not in the way you think i do. How lower you go in the list how les i have a problem with them.Luciana Paluzzi and her chacter i like more then Jinx/Barry not the other way around. David Hedison should have been Felix in TLD. Steven Berkoff (Octopussy) i dislike his chacter because the movie be so good and he screaming element (to much) and the way the chacter died. I dislike the chacter a litle bit les then Baker his chacter in TLD.
OH SNAP! I can hear @DC007's loyal troops knocking down your door now. Take Liam Neeson's wise words to heart:
“The next part is very important… They are going to take you”
I actually liked Eklund in TMWTGG. I thoght she did a good job. I knew Bach could not act from her first scene and Roberts is very very good to look at (great legs, pretty face, and tits to die for) but her acting was the nadir of Moore's films.
Brosnan drew short straws as well. Starting with Hatcher, Richards, and finally hitting the low point with Halle Berry.
I've seen Berry in lots of films, (X-Men, Swordfish, Monsters Ball) I always thought she was serviciable but she really stunk up DAD. Maybe that half assed director was so intrigue by her external beauty that he did not have the cajones to give her some real direction. Richards was so bad that no amount of direction could have saved her and Hatcher....Awful.
You are excluding Izabella Scorupco, a fine lady that makes up for all the trash Bond girls in the Brosnan era. My personal #2. :\">
Brosnan had some good actresses as well --Yeow, Rousseau, Miranda from DAD (can't not recall her name-damn!) but his films seem to go : one good , one AWFUL. Exception being GE. Both Janssen and Scorupco are good.

I'm not with you on the whole Donald Pleasance thing. Wonderful actor, but I have to agree, bad Blofeld. He had such short screentime if memory suits. I try not to watch YOLT.
Its ok mate red grant and odd job are on patrol tonight Lol
Definitive Blofeld, for me, is the Blofeld of FRWL and TB.
just thought it may have been anthony dawson, obviously both actors were in DN.
