    Given the delays and release schedule over the past decade-plus, I just assume that even this announcement won't come for another couple of years. That way, I can only be pleasantly surprised when the day does arrive.

    Exactly. I've given up on that speedy follow-up after NTTD. It seems like the wait might be a bit longer now. So it's better to live with that thought and be pleasantly surprised, than stress it.

    Remember how Casino Royale came out four years after Die Another Day, and Goldeneye came out six years after Licence To Kill…

    …it’s not even been two years since No Time To Die was released. We don’t need to go into panic mode just yet.

    At this rate biden will have completed his first term in office and we still won't know who the next guy to don the tux will be. Its getting serious, they need to pick up the pace or there won't be a Bond film in cinemas until 2026.

    I really don't think you all want them to rush it. I really don't. And I think you'll be surprised once things get moving, it's just a question of when that will be. I'm still betting on this summer.

    I don't think it's the same this time though. One thing is they had 18 months of waiting to release a finished film and another thing is, we've just had the second longest gap between films and now we're staring at another long haitus.

    Imagine if they had released Goldeneye (after 6 year LTK gap) and then not released another film till DAD, that's what this wait could be similar to.

    Of course and maybe under different circumstances we would be further along by now but considering this was all due to the pandemic which we were still struggling with when No Time To Die finally was released, I think it's no surprise where we're at and I find it pretty unrealistic to expect them to put a jet engine on the back of how they usually work.

    Also EON are probably better off figuring out what route to go down when they now know the response to their previous actors' last outing because I can also imagine if they had done loads of work on Bond 26 during that gap, baring in mind they'd still be spending a lot of money on advertising and marketing for No Time To Die, all the plans might've shifted causing a delay anyway upon No Time To Die release, so then people would be complaining anyway.

    The thing to remember about 89 - 95 is that there was an awful lot of shuffling happening within that time frame even though nothing ultimately got off the ground until brosnan came on the scene. They weren't just sat on their hands for four years with a vacant seat in the aston. Based on babs comments it sounds like it hasn't even occurred to EON to start thinking about the next film until now.

    I would rather them take their time and plan the next era throughly, even if the wait will be killer

    Panic over what? At the least you should expect 5-6 years between movies given its a recasting. And I mean from NTTD's actual release date. So we'll be waiting some time. If we get news based on what's been rumored this year, it will come around the time Nolan's movie releases in July, I'm thinking.

    You can't draw a line in the sand based on absolutely nothing and then get upset.

    I'll never understand this constant need for "panic." Then, when the time finally comes for news, people are mad or frustrated that it's not going the way they want. Just be patient and take what we get, when we get it, whether that's this summer or in two years. Waiting sucks, sure - I'm as impatient as they come - but there are way too many various sources of entertainment constantly arriving to get hung up on one property with a mindset like that.

That's news to me, since the only time that happened (besides Bond 25) was between dalton and brosnan and was down to matters out of their control. We're really letting standards slip if we start expecting it to take half a decade per film.

    No-one has said they expect it to take half a decade per film, we do expect it when its a matter of recasting but even when it does happen outside of a recasting, it's for a very good reason, like bankruptcy or a pandemic which were both out of EON's hands.

    Exactly, I mean I think the ATJ rumour is the only one that has been supported by trustworthy sources but the point still stands. Either way, for all we know, Christopher Nolan is interested, there's a script being written but not completed and there's a couple actors they have in mind waiting for a phone call with a towel ready to film the infamous bedroom scene.

    If nolan is directing Bond 26 then it'll definitely be released in his usual slot of July 2026.

    I'm fairly confident cillian murphy is winning best actor for oppenhiemer next year, and Nolan might win best director too, so they'll be doing a lot of press in the recent future. If he is in the mix for Bond then we should learn about it by the end of the summer.

    Filming was completed in October 2019. Script would have been completed long before.

    Of course but EON weren’t gonna start spending money on Bond 26 before the release, delays or not, because they were still having to fork out millions for their current actors’ swan song and had no idea how much money it would make or how well it would do.

    It's way too early to go into panic mode.
    Let's not rush things.............Craig's replacement hasn't even started pre-school yet.
    He needs to finish that, then high school, then the Royal Navy, Eton, and finally RADA.
    He needs some professional acting credits under his belt.......don't worry......... we've got plenty of time.
    Meanwhile, let's just enjoy the 25 masterpieces Eon has already given us. Shall we?
