Freddie Fox portrays a young Ian Fleming in The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

(Gary Oldman's voice and a pint): Spider? That little sh*t.

Honestly i know Cavill is just an ok actor but a good director can make an ok actor excel and honestly i think Guy Ritchie/cavill could make things work amazingly

@Benny I've taken the discouragement to heart.

    What discouragement?
I’m just being honest with you kiddo, if you want to succeed in this, you’re going to have to have a far thicker skin my boy.

It's all good. Bonds do cry.

    Crying scenes can be powerful.

Definitely, as long as they're used sparingly as they have been in the Bond films.

Guy Ritchie, Edgar Wright, Chris Nolan seem obvious candidates for a Bond film. Maybe not in the Sam Mendes style (which I guess Barbara Broccoli thought was perfect for Craig) but you wouldn't want Bond 26 to mirror Skyfall or Spectre.

Again Cavill to me is the Brosnan of current potential actors looks the part and likely would bring a fair amount of fun back into the role…

Bring in Guy Ritchie to direct and a fleming title like the property of a lady or heck even Blofeld and there we have a strong fun 90 minute bond film

Yeah man or even almost crying scenes. Like Dalton with Felix or Craig with Vesper.

They can always deepen his voice in post production. Should be a pretty easy thing to do with 2024 technology.

Or they could just stick a Memory Helmet on his head - job done! It would also save him having to learn his lines too.

Or cast an actor with a good, strong, natural voice.

    I much prefer that option.
  • Just think of those headlines if they cast an actor who’d need to have their voice edited in post production to make it sound deeper/manlier.

I bet he can't even drive a manual car either! ;)

I will say ATJ’s doing well for himself, regardless of whether I think he’s right for Bond or not. May even be a case where career-wise it wouldn’t make much sense for him to audition even if offered the role.

Still not fully convinced by him, but if EON did in fact have a chat with him they have a good eye for candidates with some level of star/success potential. I don’t think we’re going to see anyone’s voice being digitally lowered either, haha (I’m sure ATJ is capable of moulding himself to the character in terms of voice - he’d have to do an accent/adapt his natural voice anyway).

They might as well just replace Bond with an AI-generated figure while they're at it. It would save on the wages.
  • Wasn't Goran Višnjić one of the finalists to play Bond in Casino Royale? He has an accent! Much more difficult to correct than to correct a voice that's not deep enough. And ATJ can talk with a deeper voice. Just watch the Kraven trailer!

Goran was not cast and I’ve seen the Kraven trailer. The voice is poor.

Funnily enough I think Visnij was ultimately passed on because he couldn’t do an accent.

And yes, ATJ can deepen his voice when playing a character. Nothing wrong with his voice in the Kraven trailer. That’s not to say his hypothetical Bond would have an overly deep voice, but at the end of the day he’s an actor and has to mould himself to the character in some way. Anyway, I don’t think it’s a requirement that an actor has to have a certain pitch or even accent as such (ok, they have to come across as British, but previous 007 incarnations have had Scottish, Transatlantic and even slips of Northern English accents). It’s more about how expressive and adaptable their voices are.

Goran Višnjić was a bizarre candidate. I guess he fell into the tall and good looking category so was considered but without wishing to come over xenophobic, I doubt anyone wanted a Croatian James Bond.

Actors becoming models feels a tad narcissistic but I guess Johnson is milking the attention while it lasts. Cash in while he can! Maybe he'll do a Bond spoof tv advert without a shirt on. ;))

    Daily Mail cringe alert:

'Aaron Taylor-Johnson shows off his shirtless physique as he poses for a sexy new campaign as Giorgio Armani's new ambassador.'

I'm sure Barbara B is checking out his stomach and eager to sign him up! 🤭

Maybe Argyll isn't going to help Henry Cavill become the next Bond...

    Daily Express review
Argylle is the worst movie we've seen in ages: Henry Cavill fans have been cruelly tricked
    1 / 5 stars
    Argylle
Argylle review. Henry Cavill's James Bond? This is anything but. A colossal waste of his and Dua Lipa's talent in the worst blockbuster we've seen since Morbius. An abysmal disappointment with a clickbait poster promising so much and delivering nothing more than a licence to snooze.

To be fair it's just one review and one person's opinion but I recall Richard Madden getting a lot of next Bond attention after the BBC TV show Bodyguard was broadcast but his appeal kinda waned when he appeared in Amazon’s spy show Citadel. That got some very negative reviews. Poorly received films and tv shows can tarnish an actor's profile. It provides Bond fans with a convenient excuse to trash a candidate!

Roger Moore got great reviews when he played the Saint and Pierce Brosnan was liked when he starred in Remington Steele. Not sure there is a modern equivalent. Maybe Aidan Turner in Poldark? If an actor really stood out in a tv show or film that could push them to the top of the list of candidates.

Argylle is currently tracking in the 30 percent range on Rotten Tomatoes.

Not just his voice, but I don't know what ATJ would do with his hair as Bond. When he has short hair and is clean shaven he looks ordinary and not memorable

    How about Harry Styles?

An actor who seems to be flavour of the month at the moment, and who has had his name mentioned in one of those 'odds for X actor just went up' kind of clickbait is, Barry Keoghan.
Personally I don't see Bond in his looks or any of the films I've seen him in.
I'm pretty open to what different actors might bring to the role, but if EON went with him I really would be disappointed.
