😲 Well if this latest plot twist ;)) is accurate it matches B Broccoli's recent comment "nothing is happening yet." There's no reason for her to say that if it's not true. It's possible Aaron Taylor-Johnson is Eon's favourite but the release date for Bond 26 isn't decided - Amazon will have to agree - so it's probably way too early to sign the new Bond?
It's possible the Sun has it on good authority Johnson is the number one candidate but they went over-the-top and incorrectly assumed he was going to be signed up this week. And if Eon are the playing the long game and Amazon are prepared to wait, Eon have many more months to consider other actors. Bond 26 in 2026 would allow over a year to consider many actors and who knows, ATJ may drop down the list.
If the rumor is true they have already waited long enough.

Craig seemed reluctant to admit he was cast. I guess he had to stay non-committal for legal reasons. I'm assuming he was cast when that interview was done (May 2005). Maybe.
Is Aaron Taylor-Johnson the favourite? Probably. The press is going full gear on Johnson as the next Bond. Craig was the favourite with Barbara Broccoli but she had Casino Royale locked in for 2006. We don't know if she has Bond 26 locked in for 2025. Could be 2026 or longer.
Anyone wanna play go fish while we wait for the next rumor
There is a process, and it has yet to play out.
The Sun should be ashamed of its collective self, but, I know better than to expect that.
Also, if this is true, then that clip will be the most embarrassing thing a Bond actor has done.... including Sextette. ;)
At least Sextette was a paid gig, 😂 (gotta pay the rent, and a paycheck is a paycheck )...
The Vanity Fair vid was just pompous. And cringey...
That's true, everyone has the pay the rent.
I mean, all of what Craig says in that interview makes sense if you read it from the point of view of he’s been through a set of auditions but hasn’t been formally offered the role by EON/is waiting to hear back. He doesn’t outright confirm or deny he’s auditioned. To a casual reader you could easily assume he has nothing to do with Bond. But if you read it with that context you can actually assume he’s not lying and is even being quite honest about his chances of getting the role. He’s just not able to say openly that he’s auditioned for EON (and I guess he’d have signed something saying he couldn’t).
It does seem a bit odd that they’d wait 6 months to announce Craig, but I really don’t know. But I’m not wholly convinced the ‘05 article is a useful way of proving The Sun’s track record with these things, if anyone wanted another reason to disbelieve this current rumour.
I legitimately had to look this film up because I’d never heard of it.
Shockingly I think that’s only the second worst singing a Bond actor has done in their non-Bond films.
The Sun claimed he was picked in April 2005.
"Picked" is not signed so yeah it's possible he wasn't signed until September ish time? You'd think he signed a few weeks before the official announcement in October. Wasn't Timothy Dalton signed up a few days before filming TLD? I read that. Maybe it was a bit exaggerated.
"Good grief, Bond. What have you done to your hair?"
Bond knew M wouldn't like it. Bond had considered leaving it as it was but this was 2024. The black, greased 1950s look and hanging comma of fine hair was anachronistic. A reminder of the old days when external phones were in dirty, red telephone boxes and toxic masculinity was a sexual turn-on to most women.
No, Bond was certain he had made the correct decision. The new hairstyle was to remain and if his boss, the ever testy Miles Messervy, disapproved, so be it.
;))
Craig wanted to read the script first if I remember correctly.
He did indeed. I do remember him saying in interviews it arrived quite quickly for him in the post, and I don’t know the timeline of it (ie. Was this after being ‘offered the role’ in the sense that he was invited to audition, or after he’d been through this process and they wanted him to sign on?)
She looks great as Bond! I dunno who the guy on the right is. Maybe the security guard at Pinewood studios.
;))
Is that the Ian Fleming Publications symbol on his chest?

🙄🤭
Oh dear, the ATJnotbond movement begun already I see. :-q
🤭 My bad. Just a little humour. 😄
Catching bullets: the ATJ story
Great publicity for everyone involved.
ATJ and his reps love this. Whether he eventually wins the role or not, being attached to Bond is amazing. He has some films coming out and this is nothing but positive.
And EoN must love when their brand hit a news cycle and people are talking about their man (shows Bond is well and truly relevant; if no obe is talking about your guy, then it’s time to worry)… Drop some BS in a rag and everyone is talking about it…
And The Sun, well, they show they’re the best in the biz to whip up a frenzy about nothing. They put some rotten meat into a river, and like piranhas, we all rushed over to it and had our bite…
Its all good, 😂.
Rumour has it that their retraction was merely a rumour. Oh, the irony!
