    Barry Nelson was American, the main complaint.

    And David Niven was too old and didn't look like Bond.

    I’d be on board with Chazelle. No complaints from me if he’s the choice.

    I like his movies - La La Land, First Man and Babylon (despite it being far too long).

    Chazelle is relatively young in director years so that might bring some fresh energy to the series.

    You’d also likely get a Justin Hurwtiz score, and he loves the Barryesque 1960s big brass band approach.

    +1 Oh yes, absolutely. He’s got a strong sense of immagery, aesthetics and movement. Count me in as one of Chazelle’s supporters in the event this is true.

    Better make that two. Also Justin Hurwitz's The Landing track from First Man is pure John Barry. So Chazelle, Sandgren & Hurwitz would be great for Bond 26.

    What I meant is, if he worked with certain British actors, maybe one of them might fit the bill as Bond. I know the director of one Bond movie does not have much if anything to say about the casting of a future Bond actor, but still, they might listen to his suggestions/advices.

    If it’s anything like when Daniel Craig was cast, the director absolutely will get a vote in the casting of the new Bond when it gets down to the final few. I don’t know if he will be able to suggest candidates to Eon for consideration, but I’d imagine they’ll be meeting with every likely candidate anyway.

    So IF this rumour is actually true... we might be getting a little closer to the beginning of a casting process.

    Barbara Broccoli will start principal photography on Othello in 2025 taking her to the end of that year (edit and locking of film).

    I think it’s safe to say that casting begins in earnest in 2026. New Bond announcement later that year (autumn). Principal in early 2027. Release date autumn (Oct) 2027.

    It takes a while to put an Indie film together. Even if your name is Barbara Broccoli.

    She's a film producer and should be making other films.

    Unfortunately I find Peter’s speculative timeframe very plausible and frustratingly understandable; they want a healthy amount of distance from the Craig era.

    I could now possibly imagine them promoting Bond 26 as a trailer in one of the commercial breaks of LA 2028 Olympics 😅.

    I want a healthy amount of distance from that primadonna Craig tbf. Also, please do not let it be ATJ. That'd be the last straw.

    That seems possible. And if they start filming, let's say December 2026 or January 2027 they got around two years (!) to find and announce the new actor. It's possible a young actor can pop up on a streaming film or tv show and get some buzz. The next Bond could appear on a Netflix or Amazon show. Amazon tv/film division must be on the lookout for a potential Bond actor?

    Also, 2027 is long enough time, enough distance away from the Craig era to go full reboot and people won't care that much that Bond is technically dead! Bond 26 in 2027 should feel fresh. The Craig era will be less important because film goers will be excited by the new film.

    I think he and Sope Dirisu stand the greatest chance of all the discussed candidates.

    Aaron Pierre was excellent in "Rebel Ridge", but not sure if he would be right for Bond. However, I think he would be great as Jack Reacher, for example.

    Jacob Elordi’s recent casting as Heathcliff is causing quite a stir on social media, and I can understand why. However, at the same time he seems like an ideal choice for a brooding, angst-ridden, Byronic hero—a role previously taken on by the likes of Ralph Fiennes and Timothy Dalton. Having now appeared in Saltburn, The Sweet East, Frankenstein, and soon in Wuthering Heights—all English characters—it feels like Elordi is naturally entering the conversation for Bond. Plus, with George Lazenby having already set the precedent, it wouldn’t be a stretch to have another Australian in the role.

    I haven’t seen him in much (I think he’s a really good actor incidentally from what I have seen of him). But I agree to an extent. Seems more like he’d play a great villain in a Bond movie rather than Bond to me.

    I’m happy to be proven wrong if he is picked though.
