Well, tonight I went with a group of friends to see the new Star Trek, and let me tell you- this guy has to be the next Bond!!!
I must have just seen 'bad' photos of him in the past because throughout the whole movie I kept thinking of what a dark Bond look he had about him.
And his VOICE. Wow, I had never heard him speak before this movie and I have to say, he has the coolest deep British voice I've heard since Patrick Stewart or Christopher Lee

Benedict Cumberbatch for Bond number 7 please!

I highly recommend Sherlock to you, @Master_Dahark. Benedict is beyond phenomenal. What a talent he is.
I agree; he has an incredible voice and I love his work but don't see him as Bond.
Cavill is really starting to impress me. In this short feature on Man of Steel his voice is showing a maturity. I don't think that his being Superman would/will prevent him from Also being Bond; a number of actors have held multiple franchise roles.

Agreed. Well, not about the 4 year gap, I do hope we will see a two year gap coming back. That said, yes, the next Bond actor should be in his mid-thirties when cast and thus sensibly younger than Craig.

Interestingly enough though there's a job opening for the 12th Doctor Who. Doubt he'll do it now but I think that'd suit him better than Bond.
I'm still rooting for Scott Adkins even though it's unlikely EON would pick him.
I don't see Cumberbatch as Bond either. Ten years from now or thereabout he could play a villain.
I don't know much about him, but could Clive Standen play Bond?
He looks like the evil villian type.
I think Cumberbatch should somehow keep his real name as his character's name. It would be more Bondian than a lot of villains' names (see also: Brad Whitaker).
Standen would make a good choice, assuming the next Bond starts around 2020. He'd be just about 40, and has the look down.
True, Cumberbatch does sound Flemingesque. Although I don't think it sounds like a Bond's villain name.
Standen I think could look like Bond. What I am not sure about is his acting skills, which I know zilch about, so I am suggesting his name carefully. He played in that dreadful BBC series Robin Hood and he looked more heroic than the lead.
Rather flat acting, Henry!
Many reviews slated his acting in his last film, Cold Light Of Day, too.
"Ultimately and unfortunately, it falls too quickly to Will to get the job done. Cavill -- whose fame claim is the TV mini-series The Tudors and who is the new Superman -- has zilch for a personality. Given nothing to do but wander the streets of Madrid looking for meaningless clues, Cavill looks as lost as this story.
Sans chemistry between the film's stars and not much for a plot, The Cold Light of Day may be searching for light, but it ends up wandering aimlessly in the dark."

But the overall film got slated and has an impressive 5 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. :P
It's possible he's improved a bit and will make a decent Superman (I can't imagine he'll come close to Christopher Reeve's version) but I don't think he's got the presence or confidence factor to pull off James Bond. Many people regard Pierce Brosnan's Bond performances as a bit smug but that's how I imagine James Bond to be - a bit smug, a bit "I'm really great and I know it." Cavill seems a bit too mild mannered a chap to pull that off. More Clark Kent than James Bond, perhaps?
I'm sure Man of Steel will be a big hit so Mr Cavill should have a strong career ahead of him.
I think Clive Owen would/could have been the best choice but he's outside the right age bracket to replace Daniel Craig. I suspect Cavill won't become Bond, it will be some other relative unknown. It's a shame former Doctor Who actor, Matt Smith, doesn't have a strong Bond type face - he has got lots of on-screen confidence and charm. That's the qualities you associate with James Bond although you could argue Daniel Craig has sort of reinvented Bond's persona into a more blunt, semi-realistic version. Craig has been a huge hit with the public so the next Bond actor doesn't have to be that charming or refined or whatever older fans tend to associate with Bond.
I do remember Eon wanting to go with a younger actor for Casino Royale so who knows, perhaps the next actor will be fairly young.
Idris Elba could possibly do it, though his voice is a bit deep, and that'll cause outrage amongst the "BOND SHOULD BE WHITE/FLEMING WROTE A WHITE GUY/I CAN'T STAND SEEING A SUCCESSFUL *BLACK* ACTOR BECAUSE RACISM IS COOL" crowd.
Sticking to The Wire, wouldn't it be a laugh if Dominic West did it? He'd absolutely be the new Moore.
Guy Pearce would be amazing as Bond, but we've already had an Australian who, despite a fantastic performance, is often chastized even to this day. Pearce could literally be the best Bond ever but I don't think he'd be well-recieved by the fanbase for whatever stupid reason.
Luke Evans
Sam Claflin
Benedict Cumberbatch
I'm sure you all know the one I mean
I am a huge fan of The Wire and I admire Dominic West and Idris Elba a lot, but both are too old now to succeed Daniel Craig. And yes, I think Bond should be white. But Elba would make an amazing Mr Big.
Especially as I'm a purist and lover of the novels, and I do feel that Bond should be as written by Fleming; hence why Dalton, Craig and Lazenby are my favourite Bonds. I'm not outright opposed to a black Bond, because as long as the actor's good and can do a British accent (or, really, IS British as I can't see them leaving the British Isles ever again for a Bond actor) I'll still see his films and enjoy them. However a black Bond does contradict Fleming. But then again, Craig being blonde and blue-eyed contradicts Fleming just as much and you don't see me complaining.
I don't care about the physical features being non-Fleming as there are bigger issues at play, like the tone of most of the Moore era, how Blofeld was handled as a villain, the series and its treatment of Bond's pain over Tracy, and so on and so forth.
With this in mind, an actor comes to mind already: Ben Mansfield. I saw him in a West End production of One Man, Two Guv'nors last year (where Ben was portraying an antihero of sorts), and he was decent enough. Obviously, I would need to see more of his work, but he seems as if he is no stranger to tough guy roles and he fits the age of Fleming's Bond, more or less.
But yeah, I think the next Bond should ideally be around that age.
In the novels of Fleming, I don't think he goes any further than 40. And I completely agree, Craig's successor should be in his 30s when he gets the role.
Paul Haggis wrote Bond as 28 years old in his Casino Royale screenplay.
Haggis:
"We're trying to reinvent Bond. He's 28 - no Q, no gadgets."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4256024.stm
Not wishing to be anti-Craig but that was the proof Craig was miscast (age-wise) although I doubt Joe and Jane Shmoe cared how old Bond was meant to be in CR. The box office receipts proved it wasn't a big deal but in terms of what Haggis wrote - Craig was miscast. Craig was 38 in 2006 - the year of Casino Royale's release. Craig didn't look 28. Eon and MGM were fortunate none of the press picked up on that to cast doubt on Craig's casting.
It's possible Eon will forget about a 28 year Bond when Craig retires from the role and hire someone in their early to mid 30s.
I don't think he was miscast, simply the movie took a slightly different road from the original script. Connery was 32 in DN, in his early 30s, yet he plays an experienced agent who has been using a Beretta for ten years. Craig Bond could be a few years younger than he looks, given his line of work, not as young as 28 but maybe mid thirties, a believable age for a rookie operative who has been in an army for a while.

Perhaps Henry goes to Tim's hairdresser? :D Spooky similarity in the hair.
