The only thing I may see an American actor becoming Bond is if he was an unknown who would not be associated with American movies, TV series, etc. Maybe an actor version of Raymond Chandler, raised at some point in the UK.
It would have been reasonable to say that hell will freeze over before they'd cast a 5'10 blond-haired kind-of-funny-looking guy as Bond, but it's happened and it's worked out fairly well.
Still don't think it's likely, but anything can happen.
What I love about this is how "The Look Of Love" is playing. Clearly someone was knowledgeable in Bond stuffs to catch that the song was in the unofficial cannon, but still a Bond film, Casino Royal '67.
If you're referring to Cavill, he's very British. He'd also make a great Bond.

Australia. From 1975 and celebrate today his 38th birthday. What mean he turn 43 in 2018 and be 43/44 when there end filming for a Bond movie in 2019. Stil getting actor from the 70's is not easy. This is a minimum, because we must keep in mind the 7th actor possible start in 2021 for a movie in 2022 and we must have actor born in the 80's. Actor from 1986 be 32 years old in 2018 same age as Sean Connery started. But there have 5-8 year to search for actor who play the 7th Bond and if there haven't cast Ryan Gosling (1980) yet then Daniel Radcliffe (1989) always be around to save the day in 2022.
I didn't suggest Dinklage could or should be Bond. I said that he removed any apprehensions I had of an American to take on the role because he's able to pull off a British accent quite brilliantly. If a non Brit is cast, as long as he can act and pull off a convincing British-appropriate sounding accent, I'm cool with it.
Yes, you at times treat your own like garbage, so I can only wonder what trouble a Yank would rustle up.
But who the hell else could've been McNulty. The Wire literally is the most perfectly casted thing of all time.
That's the thing. Nobody but Dominic West could have been McNulty.
A Wire Bond crossover or a Wire Pokemon crossover? I love The Wire, but the realistic universe of the series wouldn't work very well with Bond's escapism. That said, I could easily see the Bond franchise inspired by some elements of the TV show: the Greek syndicate, Brother Mouzone, etc.
Charlie Hunnam
I suppose he would carry on the DC look. Haven't really seen him act in anything so I couldn't comment on that.
He played Nathan the schoolboy in the original UK version of 'Queer as Folk'. That was 1999 I think
(Actors learn other accents and languages for roles, so dont give me the "he's not british" rant.)
If anything he's possibly too tall, at 6'5".
He does have a certain Bondian look, but as he's not British is clearly not suitable.
:P
An actor who I think may be on the radar would be
Nicholas Hoult
He's still only 24, but beef him up, give him some time to mature a little more, and come Bond26 he might be ready to slip on the shoulder holster and dinner jacket?
And he's British so wins alround.
Being that Sean Connery is Scots, and Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, then he most definitely is British.
Lazenby being Australian, and therefore a commonwealth country gives him the ok.
Brosnan has no excuse, but we like Pierce so, you know.
;)
Of course this is all in jest. Should an actor be suitable, then he clearly has the right to play Bond. It's only when people start trying to tamper with the look and background of Bond too much that I have an issue.
Brosnan is not always very popular here, and I have read a few times that his accent was sometimes too American. He is Irish of course, but he may have been the most "American" Bond actor so far.
At his age, it's not going to happen.
Agreed. 5 or so years younger and i'd have said he'd have had a good shot at it. Personally, I would like to see Tom Hardy have a crack at it. I'm guessing we're looking at around a 2020/21 release for Bond 26 so Hardy will be about 42. Will all depend what EON are looking for.
I'm not a big fan of Henry Cavill so he certainly wouldn't be my pick but I think he'll probably be the bookies favourite as we approach Craig's last film.
I think the next Bond will most likely be in his 30s when cast, or at the most early 40s, and is at the moment a complete unknown.
Agreed. Gosh, that means the next Bond will be younger than me!
