What about Craig in his late 40s, early 50s, seducing Kate Beckinsale, an actress in her 40s. Cast appropriately, and with sexiness in mind, it all works out.
Kate Beckinsale would be a great Bond girl she is one of the most beautiful actresses ever.
but i also support the idea of a 50 year old Bond the age range of the Bond girls is wider.
If we got a 30 year old Bond they could only cast 20 something actresses but with a 50 year old Bond they can go from 20 something to a 50 years old Bond girl.
Spectre had Lea Seydux who was probably 25 and Monica Bellucci in ner 50s and Die Another Day Pierce was 49 with Rosamund pike who was 22 and Halley Berry 40 and Both Bonds looked with their respective Bond girls.
Especially Pierce Brosnan with Rosamund Pike who looks a little more mature than she is, she was 22 at that time but looked 30 years old.
Exactly. There's no good reason for ridiculously big age differences in Bond movies. (In some movies there are... and in some cases even if there aren't to begin with, it can be made in a way that it works, and some creepiness can be part of the story, too.)
It can get creepy and unconvincing pretty easily. I always wonder how the men who find it normal to have it one way - older man with younger woman - would feel watching movie after movie after movie another way around, the woman in her 50s (or 40s or 60s) and a man in her 20s or something. Story-wise it can be fine and part of the story in some movies, but that's one thing. Having it as a norm is creepy - both ways.
I also agree with @Szonana's point that it's not just about age, of course, but how young or old people look. And indeed, Seydoux looked even younger than she was, which didn't help at all.
...is gorgeous and awesome. :) And, as it happens, 47.
This has been so far the exception not the rule.

He would fit the younger Bond bracket, is relatively unknown - I never heard of him until a week or so ago (!), he's good looking (I suppose). I guess if he suits B Broccoli's vision of Bond he might have a chance of getting the part. And if he can act the part that must improves his chances.
... yep... but more sulky.
What a post ;) I doubt, they need to play the jealous game with him. He is not the kind, you can get with this sort of game. Mark my words
BB has made the right decision with Daniel Craig. The 6th Bond actor was as good a choice as were his 5 five predecessors.
So I am certain the 7th Bond actor will be chosen wisely too.
Even if it's a name I will have trouble with I will wait and judge once I have seen the film.
I did the same thing in 2005/2006 and leaving the cinema after Casino Royale I knew something special just happened, even if I considered (back then) Craig to be the weakest link in an otherwise perfect movie.
So bring it on dear Barbara. I am ready. I will accept whomever you choose.
Even if it's bloody Jamie Bell.
I'm sure the right director and screenplay could even make damn Jack O'Connell into a proper Bond.
Jamie Bell doesn't sound like a James Bond actor. Jamie? Now if he changed his name to
Butch Bell
then yeah, give him the part!
:P
Since Craig, I expect more than a guy who looks good on a mag cover. I want a more extravagant choice, a more unconventional choice. And preferably a few years older too. I don't want to hate on Turner, I merely find him a boring, tasteless choice for Bond.
It's obviously not all about just looking good in a suit and being smooth, although those are both prerequisites.
One has to embody the character. It must come from within, and must be believable and credible. Moreover, this embodiment must occur within the confines of what the film franchise allows, and sometimes that is highly restrictive.
Therefore, the actor must be able to convey accepted Bond mannerisms and behaviour in a subtle way because he may not be given a scene or an opportunity where more overt expressions will be possible.
Very well put, sir! =D>
You should watch BBC's Being Human. There are three series of it with Aidan Turner in the lead as Mitchell the Vampire.
Aidan Turner sells dark, gritty, violent, psychotic as well as witty, charming, suave, handsome.
Mitchell is one of my favourite TV characters ever. I guess most of the people who are in favour of Aidan have seen that great TV show.
True, and true but also extremely subjective. The is no actor who will fulfill this criteria for everyone.
If Craig quits and Bond 25 is out winter 2018 I'll imagine the deadline for casting the new Bond is autumn 2017. About a year or so from now. Daniel Craig was announced 14 October 2005.
A year or so isn't that long to wait! I reckon a few new names will be mentioned before the deadline. But Craig could confirm his return in 2017, of course.
He was good in And Then There Were None but he played a stereotype. This is where the rumours started.
I have to disagree here. I think Turner brings more variety than any other name I have seen mentioned. If you see his interviews, he clearly is very comfortable in his own skin, and loves to have a laugh. However, he has that dark intensity and a piercing stare that could put a shiver down your spine quicker than a November morning. I think he covers those bases well.
