This begs the question, in order not to be blindsided by a transgression or accusation, how deeply will EON delve into the private life of a potential Bond .
that comment misunderstands what has driven #metoo
just because someone has bedded lots women does not mean they're about to be trashed or condemned for their behaviour. as long as whatever he did was genuinely consensual and he wasn't abusing his power then i doubt anyone cares what he's done.
I'm sure his star status will have helped him along the way with the ladies and nothing wrong with that as long as he's not setting up sexual favours as a gateway to accessing contacts and casting opportunities.
I think he looks slightly odd personally and perhaps the least conventionally good looking of the names being cast around. I've only seen him in Cinderella where he was fine but that perhaps wasn't the best showcase for his talents
No, actually your comment misunderstands and misrepresents mine; it also injects the #metoo movement when it was not the focus.
As far as what constitutes consent, as time passes, that becomes a great area; what was a consensual seduction in the past could now be considered inappropriate or even assault.
We live in a world where sensitivites go beyond obvious, intentional or actual sexual transgressions and offenses.
My point is that the powers that be are going want to know as much as they can about an actor’s background.
I personally don't think it's a problem if those in positions of power within any industry are held to account.
if Madden has done something that deeply transgressed some boundary or abused his position of power then it would be better to know about it before he was cast.
but the fact he's slept with lots of women does not in itself represent a problem for anyone I think despite some of the hysteria and overreaction around recent events.
Absolutely...
I'm loving the Bodyguard and I think Madden would be perfect as Bond. Charisma and presence, he has them. Besides, he is Scottish and we know that has good precedent in the series.
Yeah it's solid, honest British drama.
Regarding Madden's type of beauty he's got a more conventional one than Craig. Maybe it's a more modern one than the other Bond.
I'm a bit indifferent when it comes to Hardy. Not the most Bondian look-wise, and I can understand those who doesn't want to see him as Bond at all – but if he was to get cast, I wouldn't be against it completely.
What would have been perfect though, is having Hardy play a physical and unpleasant main villain – perhaps even a British main villain?
While extensive, they can realistically cover them if needed.
people said the same thing about Craig. some still do!
I'm not a huge hardy fan but I prefer him over some lightweight like Cavill. his raf pilot in Dunkirk made me more sympathetic to him and Taboo is pretty good - held together really by his performance.
I wonder though whether he's not going to be too old by the time they recast.
Cavill isn't the greatest actor out there and the chances are nil that he'll pick up the role. But, if it were down to him and the rest of the suggestions made in here, I'll pick Cavill in a heartbeat. He just needs a good director to lead him through.
I also don't think Hardy has any problem looking/acting refined when he needs to. The man scrubs up good.
i would put cavill's chances as higher than nil. he came second to Craig for CR. he was Campbell and MGWs choice I think. and EON has a history of going back to second choices or guys they've had their eye on for years.
Eh? If he was playing a pastiche, why do you think that's how he would approach the real thing?
Not to mention he's a little too cockney for Bond.
Good job he's an actor then. He's also not enough of a secret agent for Bond, but he can pretend. That's what actors do.
I still wouldn't choose him if I had a gun to my head. =))
