Good point. He is great in The Social Network, too - one of the best films of the last twenty years.
These guys also aren’t tarnished by association with trash reality TV.
As far as debating the idea that popstars/musicians couldn't be viable Hollywood actors in general, I don't think that stigma exists anymore. It may have a couple of decades ago but I think we're long past it. I guess the most impactful, recent transition would be Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born - can't believe I forgot that one.
Yup.
Well yes this topic is specifically about casting Bond, but the subject of entertainers becoming actors applies no matter what their nation of origin or the role.
As far as reality TV, that is a relatively new, within the past 20 years, format. I don’t see a reason to exclude someone who got their start there. But, we all have our personal preferences.
Most actors rarely become decent Hollywood actors, it must be noted.
Exactly. Or appear on ‘kitchen sink’ low brow soap operas like Coronation Street or Hollyoaks.
I agree with you here. My point is that trash reality TV isn’t usually a great platform for discovering talent. Quite the opposite usually. But I suppose an exception is always possible.
Sure, but Daniel Craig was in Heartbeat, y'know- you can't always judge someone by where they've come from. Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar.
Was he?! Ha ha. And our friends in the north! I quite like Heartbeat, I’ll admit that, as it’s retro and of course.....set in Yorkshire.
Jennifer Hudson is a fairly bland actress/ celebrity or whatever IMO. Totally forgettable. I’ll have to google that Oscar as I’m very surprised! I assume she came from a reality show though......so good point.
You are right though, I have slightly pre judged, old fashioned and snobbish attitude to ‘reality tv stars.’ Which is probably wrong.
But for me, reality television is the lowest form of entertainment. It lauds crass behaviour, glorifies abuse, elevates shallow personalities and promotes dysfunctional relationships.
According to Wikipedia Aidan Turner is indeed slated to be Bond in 2025. On the right hand box Turner is listed after Craig.

Never seen it. But heard good things. I would watch it. I like quality drama with good acting certainly.
Shows how wiki is open to incorrect edits!! Ha ha ha.
I thought it was pretty funny. I guess anyone can go in and make up some bulls**t on Wikipedia. LOL.
Unsolved Mysteries is not exactly highbrow, but I admit a guilty pleasure.
Someone would have had to be a Nostradamus to see McConaughey as a future Academy Award winner bast on this performance.

I do rate McConaughey. Great actor.
I like true crime dramas. I was mainly having a pop at X Factor, love island, TOWIE and other such rubbish.
Agreed but compare to popstars, they are far more decent.
Ha! That's great.
I mean, not for the guy he was playing obviously.
Don't forget a lot of popstars come from drama schools just like a lot of famous actors do. Billie Piper is a good example; she's a brilliant actor but started out as a pop singer.
Of the Bond’s I think Sean had the most and in part accounts for him being generally thought of as the best.
True. But Roger oozes star quality.
Now he would have made a good Felix.
Pierce has that star quality too.
