I can't even think who I had as a front runner choice back for Bond in Casino Royale
I know Daniel Craig was an out of left field choice. So will it be the same with the casting as Bond #7?
Plenty of good candidates, but non that I would say puts them out in front. Sure Aidan Turner has plenty of fans. But then so does Henry Cavill.
Personally I think we're going to get another surprise casting choice.
After watching Last Night In Soho yesterday I find myself reassessing my opinion. Claflin only has a cameo but he's very Bondian. Maybe he was helped by the 60s setting and the way the scene was lit and would look different in the cold light of day. I really would have liked to see more of him to assess him further. However, based on that one scene, if he can maintain that look he's become a genuine contender in my eyes.
True. I genuinely don't think anyone other than Barbara Broccoli would have cast Craig as Bond - and that didn't work out too badly, eh!
Agreed ! And please bring Ms. Taylor-Joy along, too ! However, are you sure he exists ? (and not just because of the spacy aspects of Last Night in Soho) Orrrrrr, is that Willem Dafoe digitally tallified and de-aged ?
Is this true no but do I wish it was true absolutely
I don't understand what people see in Hardy either. I mean if some complained about Craig not being classically handsome, imagine Hardy as Bond.
On a side note, I am rewatching The Bourne Identity and for the life of me I still can't figure out what people found in him that would have made him suitable as Bond.
Somehow I don't think any of the "big names" will get the role. In any case, if asked I'd suspect Hardy would feign interest to be polite, but I'm not sure he'd really want it.
‘ It’s such an iconic role, It would be an honor to be considered…’
It was Croupier.
I hope when they cast Bond #7 they strike a good balance between Bond's inner conflict and the cinematic version of what Bond is. I think that's Craig greatest success with the character. I don't think Page or Cavil have the acting ability to show the inner conflict within Bond himself
It's a fair point my friend. I'm only judging that on what I've seen the actors in and obviously my own opinion. Page I know less about admittedly, but everything I've seen Cavil it's just surface with him, he would have made a great Bond straight after Pierce but the films have changed massively since 2002
That guy in Nip/Tuck who also played Dr Doom made a similar mistake.
James Bond is that kind of job prospect you must shut up about it if you're being considered. At least that's the default position.
Does EON put out a casting call or do they int call in those who the want to evaluate?
I doubt it is a casting call. Every male actor would respond to it 😂
My guess is they maintain an ongoing shortlist and once they have decided the general direction they want to take the series in, they will then align that with their list at the time and go from there.
