That's certainly not an uncommon opinion around here it seems, but I'd say it's still arguable! DAD may be over the top silly, but it has Gustav Graves ( :x ) and can be quite entertaining, where as, and I'm ashamed to admit, one or two of the Moore films nearly put me to sleep ;)

Perhaps Bond took them after Klebbs death as a souviner and gave them to Q cos he thought he might find them interesting?

I like this thread. While I have my favorites, I feel like anyone who says "he sucked" or "he was boring" is only selling themselves short.
I had a serious problem with John Cleese as Q though......'carry on-esque.'
As for my own reasoning for why I like each actor, here goes the list.
Sean Connery: Cocky, Invulnerable, Patriotic and Indomitable Man with Class!
George Lazenby: A very good fighter.
Roger Moore: Humourous yet deadly, Casanova, Reasonable, and a man who loves his job.
Timothy Dalton: The edginess and the kind way of treating his female companions (i.e. Kara Milovy) was enough to like him.
Pierce Brosnan: The suave man of action, a professional secret agent with his head always in the game. A mixture of Connery and Moore. What more would I want from a Bond?
Daniel Craig: Another good fighter, and someone who hates bureaucracy and modernism.

Timothy brought Ian Fleming back
Pierce did the best with what he was given
Daniel is the every man Bond.

Roger Moore......terrific sense of humour and fun.

Brosnan......the safe pair of hands and the 'leading man' 007. He hasn't the toughness of Connery or the suaveness of Moore for me I'm afraid.
Do we though... I mean do we have to? What's wrong with having a strong opinion one way or another?
The simple test of who was a good Bond and who wasn't/isn't is quite straightforward really - do you feel like you are watching 007 when you watch the film?
Of course it's subjective, it always will be.
* Connery - yes, for all but DAF. This was some jowly, sluggish playboy, not James Bond
* Lazenby - yes. He was athletic, graceful and had one of the best screenplays & scripts to work with. Would have been a disaster in a lesser Bondflick such as TMWTGG however.
* Moore - yes, other than his debut. After that he worked to his strengths and made the role his own.
* Dalton - yes. He was the purest celluloid incarnation of Fleming's vision.
* Brosnan - no, other than for brief moments in TND. Pretty but neither really looked nor behaved like 007
* Craig - yes. Never quite looks like 007 (nothing to do with hair colour), but most certainly acts it and makes you believe he has become James Bond.
DAF, LALD, TWINE & DAD just don't feel like James Bond is actually in it at all, to me...
Ok this is not a ranking, im mentioning each one in the order they appeared in the series.
Sean Connery : he gave us James Bond without him the series probably wouldn't have continued but his fantastic performance is part of what made the prodcuers continue and feel like they had a franchise.
He is the perfect package of looks, sex appeal, charm, sense of humor but can defend himself pretty well as an action man someone who can kill the bad guys in cold blood.
George Lazenby: he gave this role more sentivity and heart. He was all charm and sweetness,he was able to be serious but in a different way than Sean Connery.
Roger Moore : he was the king of sense of humor.
He truly gave his films truly his owm spin, all his films have the Roger Moore stamp very well marked.
Timothy Dalton : He was the ideal fleming Bond.
His strenghts were in excelling with action, physicality and being not afraid to kill in cold blood when it was needed.
Pierce Brosnan : he was the whole perfect package mixing all the strenghts of his predecesors but more than anything he is the Modern Sean Connery and im saying it as a compliment.
Daniel Craig
He was the most Bad ass Bond definitley being the best at being Dark and a man of action.
What he lack in charisma, sex appeal, charm and humor makes it up for excelling in the other side of the character.
Well, my appreciation of Craig just keeps growing. QOS is steadily rising for me to the point that my last rankings needs to be rearranged soon. It's inside my top ten now.

He gave us the best Bond (Dr.No to TB), he gave us the worst Bond (DAF).
George Lazenby
He received the best Bond movie ever. He managed not to damage that movie, for that we have to thank him.
Roger Moore:
He showed us that there can be a different take on Bond that is believable, successful and loved.
Timothy Dalton:
He is the Fleming Bond, sadly cut short which was not his fault.
Pierce Brosnan:
He saved the franchise with his perfect mix of Connery and Moore while still having his own identity. He is all in one.
Daniel Craig:
He is the serious, grim, relentless Bond. He never looks the part but acts the part and is the most believable 00 agent with a license to kill, even more than Connery.
Dan Stevens:
He is...will be...I'm getting carried away... :))
