Least violent Bond Film?

A lot of people had opinions on the "most violent bond film" and i ask, what is the least violent, or just the most tame bond film? It's a weird question but boredom makes you do such things. I'd probably put the Man with the Golden Gun or Moonraker, even though both have their violent moments. they just come off very PG to me. Any opinions?

TMWTGG definitely - funny I was just thinking about this myself. Bond watches violent actions throughout the film (as we the audience do too) but only actually kills one man - Scaramanga. No other Bond film has so low a death count.

On the contrary I find the violence quite visceral and nasty in DAF.

Personally I find OP to be one of the least violent Bond films.

    Vijay.
  • Probably Dr. No for me. Ms. Taro doesn't even get killed--she's arrested, for Pete's sake!

    I would say DAF

Dr No has few kills, but I still consider it one of the darker entries. Bond kills by knife and strangelation in a way which seems very real on screen, and Quarrel is put on fire. And that's not to mention the obvious elefant in the room, te kill that might be his most coldhearted in the series...

I'd rather go with Goldfinger or Golden Gun... although the latter one has Moore beating up Maud Adams, a scene that is strikingly out of place in such a lightharted film.

    The headshot in the train....

  • Bond movies suppose to be violent thats how Fleming intended it even in the books.
Fleming, we learn, was a violent sadomasochist. He drank too much, cheated on his wife and liked Slapping Women.

Not to mention he would occasionally drive through yellow lights.

This is a tough one. FYEO perhaps? I can't remember anything too brutal in that film. Correct me if I am wrong please!

Good one. It's cold-hearted certainly. Difficult to pick one that is least violent.

I'm not too sure. It did give me violent urges...
  • And so is Gonzales shooting down the Havelocks...

Gonzales' own death is pretty sudden. A crossbow bolt to the back just as he's diving into the pool.

My first thought was DAF. Most of the violence is after-the-fact and the worst is probably Plenty.

Yeah, and she was a dope to not just get TF out of town after being thrown out a window. Andrea in TMWTGG was trapped.
DAF is my choice then I guess.

  • Disagree about DAF. You've got Kidd being lit on fire, Plenty being drowned, Blofeld's double shot in the head with a piton, black humor surrounding the death by scorpion, Mrs. Whistler hauled from the canal, and that nasty Q-gadget snapping on that guard's hand in the PTS. Plus the fight with Franks was fairly brutal.

Goldfinger is my choice for least violent. After the fight with Capungo in the PTS, there isn't much to get worked up over. Most of what violence there is in the film is pretty comic-booky: Goldfinger waving his arms while being sucked out the jet window, gold bricks bouncing off Oddjob's chest before he's electrocuted in a shower of sparks, Kisch hollering and flipping mid-air as he's thrown from the top of Fort Knox. Not to put down any of this stuff. It's all lots of fun, just not particularly violent. Even when Tilly gets knocked down by Oddjob's supposedly razor-brimmed hat, she's perfectly intact, not a mark on her body. And her sister dies rather non-violently by suffocation of the skin. Even when Solo gets shot it's in a very calm and non-violent way; the shot is even silenced so as to diminish the effect!

Oh, and Goldfinger snaps a pencil at one point. So, I guess there's that. ;)
