UK viewers just been informed that the show Superman and Lois Season One starts airing on BBC1 1740 Saturday 4th December.
Some more Superman 78 comic book stories, perhaps? I actually hope so.

On the whole unfortunately, I think the film saga leans a bit more on the disappointing side, particularly when up against its DC counterpart Batman. The first Superman movie starring Reeve is still the best and far and away most captures the spirit of what it should all be about. Still need to watch the extended version! I personally really enjoy both the Donner and Lester cuts of II and find they each have some pros and cons.
After that it’s pretty inconsistent though. I thought Returns was decent and did a few things I really liked but it still lacked a real wow factor to it and could be quite average much of the time. III has too much unfunny camp but earns solid points for the evil Superman and Lana content. Man of Steel is fine as just any movie, but it’s really far too dark in tone for a Superman film. Then Quest for Peace is just one of the worst films I’ve ever seen that can be laughed at through at times at least.
I really hope there’ll be a new director with great vision that will come along to do this series more justice than it’s seen in many a year. The series deserves it. Oh and the Animated Series starring Tim Daly is definitely best content I’ve seen on screen of the character besides the first two films.
That animated series by Bruce Timm does an amazing job of utilizing the Superman lore. That and John Byrne’s run on the comics.

Big +1. One of the biggest issues is the under-mined lore and lack of classic villains that could be adapted well. I’d love to see Darkseid and the ones you mentioned. Lex Luthor and the Joker are excellent characters and villains and deserve to hold the titles of arch nemesis for Superman and Batman, but I’m ready for them to have a rest and make way for new baddies.
Big +2. In my Superman (and Supergirl) movie script ideas, (I have 3 written down for now), there is no Lex or Zod. We would also move more into space for fights. The only time that I would want Lex Luthor around is an origin story for a modern day version of the character.

4) Superman II (Lester)/Superman II Donner Cut *each has elements the other does not. The best would be a mix of the two*

More or less how I’d rank, aside from the three hour cut. I like a lot of the deleted material, but holy moly do they stretch out sequences like the plainclothes police following Otis for what felt like an eternity.
One of the greatest scenes never to appear in a movie.

The above reported 10 million dollar deleted scene would have softened the blow for the crap scenes that followed early on.
rehashing previous plots (namely the villains).
Bringing back a previous cast member (Marlon Brando as Jor-El).
A failed relationship.
Family problems.
A rescuing montage.
Over powering a hero character.
These are just some of the reasons why SR is more of a landmark movie than people realize. I have always enjoyed it for what is, same with the Jurassic World movies. But at their cores, they are all just Member Berries movies.
It’s crazy because during pre-release Bryan Singer seemed like he had genuine reverence for the Donner film, but SR doesn’t really feel like it belongs in the same universe. It’s also just a flat looking movie. Nothing pops like in the first two Reeve films. It’s like someone went to post production and dialed contrast way below acceptable levels.
I know right? Kryptonite almost kills him in one scene...then ten minutes later he lifts an entire continent of the stuff!
First time I saw Superman Returns I hated the kryptonite continent thing.
Then I saw Man Of Steel & Superman Returns didn't seem so bad....
Yeah, pretty good in fact. The crushing nose was a good touch.
I never felt so empty at the end of a movie, but what was worse was that I couldn’t even admit that to myself. I would soon rewatch it multiple times in theater and on DVD hoping I would end up loving it. I used to go online defending it, claiming it wasn’t terrible, but that it was pretty good and that the sequel to it will make it all better! Just have to wait for Bryan Singer to make that Tom Cruise Nazi movie first and then we’ll start hearing pre-production news!
And nothing happened.
I had a similar with MAN OF STEEL, but more subdued. I wasn’t as hyped for that as I was for SR, but I hoped the best for Cavill and thought Snyder would make a proper post-Crisis film. Movie wasn’t great, okay, but the sequel will make everything better! And then we got this…
Woof! When audiences began laughing at the Martha scene I knew this DCEU was crashing and burning.
I liked that is showed the problem of Superman's strength that other adaptations hadn't shown- he is strong enough to pick a plane up but he's only the size of a man: if you hold a plane by one tiny man-sized pressure point on its wing then the wing will break :)
I liked the MCU films ( Until its end with Endgame ),but everything since ( with the exception of Spider Man NWH has been just woke garbage.
