After LTK, YKMN and SF I think its one of the best post Barry songs.
  • These discussions are now not even relating to the spectre theme song. I mnow we have little to go on, but we all might as well come back when there's some grounded proof or new rumours.

I actually don't think AWTD is the abomination that others feel that it is. The somewhat disjointed structure matches where Bond is following the death of Vesper. I don't think the duet approach was successful an hurt the final song.

I agree. I think Alicia Keys would have made a better song by herself

And I think Jack White would have been better off solo.

True, it has wandered a bit. There's little to discuss about the SPECTRE song so nothing wrong with opening up the topic a bit. As soon as there is real news about the upcoming title song, 'm sure we'll have plenty to say about it. we'll see you then ;)

If it is primarily a singer who has also acted in some films it would almost have to be Timberlake or Beyonce. Neither of them have hit it big in films yet, but they are both pretty huge in music. EON could do a lot worse. I think Beyonce would cover a lot of bases and would be my pick between the two.

Just noted Jwestbrook's mention of Prince. He could work well too. I don't think Lopez has much musical talent, but I could see them using her for a song with a Latin edge given it follows the PTA in Mexico. EON has milked this for a long time, who ever gets the job better have come up with a great title song.

That's the exact reason I suggested Shakira. Shes got a much more global appeal than Lopez [/quote]

    You're right. I agree.

Paloma Faith says she has some big announcement for later today. Still hoping she'll do it.

I have an alibi for that.

  • It's not her. She just announced she's going to be a judge on the voice.

But at least it was a great discussion. It shouldn't be too long now till we get something better. I cannot wait much longer, I just hope it happens in September and not a few weeks before the films. Is it even possible they could do it earlier this time.
  • Interesting to see how most, if not all, the "rumours" about the movie itself turned out to be true once we had the final word on them, while there's not a rumour that sounds more likely than the others as far as the song is concerned. It shows IMO the movie business is an industry, while the music industry still has room for craftsmen. It is ironical then that movies are much more considered "art" than music is now :)

    @Thunderfinger

you have impeccable music taste (like me he he...)

Laibach is one of the best EBM artists of the 80's. Front242 was another favourite of mine.
    As is Camouflage and AndOne.

Yeah, I saw Laibach in Oslo in 1994. Will check out Camouflage, never heard them. Front 242 could also have done a great Bond theme.

Lady Gaga, looking great, came on to present grants to “the next generation of musicians and actors” including the Young Musicians Foundation and the Music Center Spotlight Program. HFPA members I spoke to seemed the most thrilled to have her at this party though I am told Gaga’s people approached the HFPA, rather than the other way around. But does she also possibly have a project this year that might be considered for Golden Globes later on? Speculation was swirling – as it has on the internet – that Gaga may be providing the next iconic theme song for a Bond film, and that would be for the upcoming November release SPECTRE. Hey, it worked out for Adele , who won an Oscar and a Globe for her Bond song, Skyfall. Nothing has been announced yet so it was just idle rumors, but sometimes these kinds of events can offer clues in the awards game. Makes sense for Bond though so we could be seeing Gaga at the Globes come January.

Lady Gaga would be the perfect coup.
Just imagine the media coverage that would get.
And furthermore we would receive a great Bond song, so much is guaranteed. Gaga never ever disappoints.

I still believe she doesn't suit the Craig movies though, Lady Gaga is over the top, larger than life and very unique. Nothing like the current Bond movies.

In the end it will be ole Adele again belting out a new tune for Spectre. You'll all see.

Yes the general quiet surrounding Adele does suggest she might be the one. It would be the perfect way for her to announce her return to the public gaze after disappearing and having kids. It makes sense.
  • Yeah, I still hope its not her though. I want something fresh and exciting again. Something that sounds completely different. I hope for Lady Gaga.

According to this, J.A.C. Redford collaborated with Adele and Epworth on the actual SKYFALL song orchestrations.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adele

I didn't know that. I knew that Redford arranged the part of the score that references the song during the movie (when Bond arrives at the casino). That's interesting to me. I wonder if there has been time/scope for Redford and Newman (I hope) to work with the songwriters more closely on Spectre. If it's Adele again, then that seems a real possibility. I am sure that everyone involved in SF must have felt the failure to properly integrate the song into the score was a massive missed opportunity.

    It's an exciting prospect.
  • Lady Gaga would be cool, amazing voice and she's proved with Tony Bennett she can do classy stuff other than Dance Pop. It'd be a big opportunity for her career change and of course it would bring worldwide attention on SP.

I think they want a guaranteed hit. Lady Gaga can deliver that. Not many artists have the international name recognition and the ability to deliver hit after hit.
