Is this version online? If so where and how final does it make Bond's exit at the end? I'm so worried this will be Craig's last.
Craig is signed on for Bond 25, and nothing has been said to claim otherwise... so unless something changes, he will be back at least 1 more time...
Also how comes no-ones talking about Oberhauser's actual scheme?
Oberhauser's scheme is to unify and control the intelligence community through MI5 and the Nine Eyes organization, and also shut down the 00 program - with his puppet Denbigh in charge of it all.... there is no specific threat that is to occur once this happens - but it's the idea of a terrorist organization secretly in charge and in control of the world's intelligence - and with Spectre, they could cause global panic and hysteria.. a very Tammany Hall-like situation, just with global intelligence implications
I really like this. Not only is it on a larger scale compared to other schemes we've had recently but it also connects the two parallel storylines that happen during the film (Bond out in the field, M dealing with Denbigh and Nine Eye). They all start off separately and conclude at the end.
On a separate note, now that Irma has been cut, I'm really hoping we get a proper female villain/ henchwoman in Bond 25.
The fact Ernst knew everything about Bond's location and health in real-time thanks to the nano-blood was even a major plothole IMO in the early scripts, when he left Bond to die in the furnace - and suddenly he stopped looking at Bond's health data ! How convenient, Bond could then escape and "surprise" him later because Ernst "thought" he was dead because he left him to suffer and die but had to leave ! Wow.. months of writing for that ? The nano-blood is still in the later script, but it is far less used - in the earlier script, Ernst would torture Bond and see his pulse rate increase on his tablet, or he would use the tablet with Bond's data to try to guess if Bond was bluffing, etc.. - it is even a kind of oddity now IMO, it's here rather as something that survives from earlier scripts.
What I find interesting is that they initially were planning to have M as the mole. That plays into the comments directly from EON in 2011 when Fiennes was cast, and they said his role would be 'darkly complex'. As I've said, there was nothing 'darkly complex' about Fiennes' role in SF. It seems to suggest that they may have always wanted him as a turncoat baddie in the back of their mind when they cast him for the role of M, and when B25 was meant to be a one-two from B24. Fiennes declining to be a bad guy in SP meant they had to contrive the Denbeigh workaround to have a suitable inside man to blame. I wonder how much screen time that took away from other plot points and characters, including Blofeld as a result and what delays it cost.
Yeah! That's a simple but great idea! Better than the e-mail for sure.
Dear aaron819
Could you please send me a link to this script please.
Thanks
Send him a private message, don't discuss it here in a thread.
I think there was an interview with Craig a while ago where he said that Casino Royale was maybe too much, and that these are family movies, which means the violence would be toned down.
Well from the timing, it looks a lot like it was because of Fiennes' refusal that they had to call Purvis and Wade... The mail about Sam Mendes "freaking out" they could not convince Fiennes to play the bad guy is within 1 or 2 weeks of the P&W announcement IIRC.
Them originally planning to have Mallory as a traitor is another sign that this could be Craig's last imo.
Blood splatters are mentioned in certain deaths but I don't know how that will pay off on screen.
If it is Craig's last I hope it's not the end of his Bond universe and just him passing the role over to the next actor but in the same timeline. I don't think it will Craig's last but I also hope that after Bond 25 that we get a continuation with the new 007 and not a full stop, I really don't think rebooting so soon after the series was relaunched is very healthy at all.
I'm just saying I'd prefer no more reboots for sometime yet please!
I'm glad Ralph stood fast and refused to play the villain, what a waste of what could become a real impressive run for him in the role, if this was Logan's plan then I'm glad they dropped him and bought P&W back to rescue the script. I'm beginning to believe the best aspects of Skyfall might have come from them and not Logan, something I've been suspicious of for a while when concerning Haggis on CR & QOS.
I've just been sent the December script (thanks again @aaron). I'll read the full thing later but I took a peak at the ending and I think it's still clear Bond is retiring. When he throws his gun away he says to Madeline it's because "he doesn't need it anymore".
Whether it's Craig's last or not, he definetely seems to quit MI6 at the end so I'm really curious about Bond 25. My guess is that SP is the last Craig film and we'll get a soft reboot for Bond 25 but I could be wrong. If they don't do that, and bring Craig back, then I'll be interested to see jow they follow this.
