This is what I meant when I said EON won't paint themselves into a corner with an ending that is definitive by having it's star NOT ABLE to return. The filmmakers want us to wonder what will happen after seeing SP, to speculate. Not to tell us it is not possible for his return, therefor taking the will he or won't he out of it. And for all of Craig's fans of his Bond, right now I don't think that is the wisest move on EON's part.
As of now, it ends on a cliffhanger, but one that leaves the door wide open. But if Craig says he's done, then another actor will befitting in M's office in Bond 25.
I don't mean anything against dmwalker, but I think "the throwing the gun in the river" already answer's this entire question. Can't see another huge twist on top of that or in place of that. That alone is enough.
The Moore movies were balanced enough up to TSWLM, then it got a bit on the silly side.
Dalton's movies were balanced enough, even LTK which only was a bit too violent.
Brosnan's first 3 movies are probably the most balanced of them all and absolutely perfect in that sense. DAD of course went to the silly side.
The Craig movies, sadly, are not balanced at all.
CR was balanced enough not to hurt the movie.
QOS not at all, the worst of them all in that sense.
SF is a mess of gigantic proportions, they tried to put in everything and failed at most.
It is a pessimistic, gloomy affair overall.
Which doesn't mean movies like MR, DAF, DAD or QOS are not good overall! Just not balanced well.
You have a point.
I was tempted to say "up to MR" but I think MR was the transition from well balanced to a bit too silly within that movie.

EDIT: Not sure if this is the correct spoiler thread for call sheets- mods please move it to a more appropriate one if necessary, cheers.
I could not disagree with you more. Movies such as dad and the others you listed are unbalanced, sure, but it isn't that only that makes them bad movies. They are bad movies overall. Cr is bond back to his bare essence, absent of the gadgets and not quite as adherent to the bond canon. But it does NOT, by any means, abandon the canon at all. It feels very much like a bond film imo, and is my second favorite. Qos is badly balanced and a terrible movie, so I agree with you on that. Sf, however, fits very well within the bond canon, is as "classic" as GE, TSWLM, etc. and is one of the best bonds to date.
Given in the December script, there is nothing indicating in the story whether it is a word or acronym, I hope this means they reinstated that small but really nice piece of backstory that explains the organisation's name and insignia in the Craig era from the October script - the photograph of young White and Oberhauser in the Foreign Legion in Morocco which has the name of their platoon "Les Spectres de Pierre" and an image of an octopus with its tentacles around Earth on a mural behind them.
I think people mistook that there will be two songs in the film, to be that there were two songs recorded. Second song is no doubt Dusty's original Spooky.
It has been leaked already? Good job, Kim!
Yes, with Blofeld in custody and the MI6 team having all the necessary data to take down to remaining SPECTRE bases. The story is over, but it leaves the door open for a possible YOLT-esque continuation, but it works just as fine and is just as satisfying as the end.
Well I wouldn't say that it's obvious. Yes, I agree there probably will be a continuation, but I think they wrote the ending to be intentionally ambiguous. I'm not sure if Craig himself knows he's coming back so I think this ending could work either way. You could have Bond throw away his gun, resign, and move on with his life OR you could go the OHMSS path that seems to be the general assumption for Bond 25. I personally wouldn't mind having the Craig era end this way. It's basically the same way they did the Nolan Batman trilogy.
Did you read the Esquire Interview?
“I’m a huge Bond fan,” he says. “I love James Bond movies."
Will he miss James Bond, when it’s another actor carrying the Walther PPK, at the wheel of the Aston Martin?
“Yeah, of course I will.”
Does this sound to you, that he's not commited to the Bond movies?
Remember, he did this interview in early July 3 days after shooting for SPECTRE finished.
He gave more of himself then any other, so thinking about being done should be allowed.
Also we dont know, what is really going on behind the scenes and how much of ghat reflects in his thoughts.
Well, you kind-of DO know what's been going on because I've been TELLING people what's been going on. It's just that you didn't believe me and resorted to insults, along with a few others here.
I did but re-read it and acknowledged it in a different light. I agree with you and have my impressions in tge spectre production thread.
Agreed. It could go either way. If Craig does do B25, I think both the Swann and Blofeld's story lines will continue. It really seemed to me that this was possibly a 2 part story. But who knows. Probably Craig himself doesn't know yet.
You said the script wouldn't make it possible for Craig to return.
Craig himself said he wanted to retire as Bond as soon as QOS was released in 2008. He says that almost every year.
So as Craig says in that interview: "We'll see."
And we will see in 2 years.
Have some people really not understood, that this was spoken in jest and was never meant seriously?
He just finished shooting spectre and the movie isn't even in theaters he's probably exhausted and people are already saying what about the next one... I think he meant to say "I can't even think about doing that right now"
So he wants to relax a little before they start pre production next year on the next one big deal...
So about the co-producer status that is on the poster, I'll use spoilers again then (!)
