That's what always pissed me off in the aftermath of die another day. Pierce gets the boot, the writers stay, and the producers whined about not knowing where to go after they'd gone too far with die another day. It's their own damned fault!

I blame Tamahori for either directing her to portray the words with that emphasis/attitude/personality or for allowing her to do so.
As a director of quite a few student films back in the day, I must agree. There is always that useful phrase "Take it down a bit."

And FOUR effin' years went by to decide where to go.

I can't stand The Man With The Golden Gun. It's everything a Bond film shouldn't be. It's a disgrace to Fleming. It had great potential but squandered it on stupid humor. Bond wearing a third nipple, JW Pepper's silly return and the biggest problem of all. Mary Goodnight. She kills the movie with her stupidity. Anya and Jinx are Shakespearean grade compared to her. I think this movie created the "Stupid Blond" Stereotype. This movie is shameful. Moore and Lee can't even save it. I compare this film to CR-67. No wonder half the cast was so angry you could see it in the performances. Moore is pissed at goodnight when they meet and Bernard Lee is pissed at everyone. Even Lois Maxwell was irritated.

Die Another Day might be mediocre but it's way better than TMWTGG.

I had DAD firmly in the 23th spot, until I viewed TMWTGG again.
Say what you want about DAD, it's a solid movie until the invisible car appears.
Great fights and Bond is actually spying. TMWTGG? No action, and I never bought Christopher Lee (as Scaramanga) as a serious threat.

Nic Nack? Mary Goodnight? JW Pepper? Come on!
    The Funhouse? Lame.
The Solex? It comes out of nowhere...

Of all the questionable Bond film moments there are, I HATE Jaws turning good. I mean, it almost ended my Bond fandom back then. Only positive 'back to basics' reviews made me see FYEO, and even then I was only mildly placated.

That was beyond the pale. You just do not do that. Did that with May Day, too

I call it the 'Vader syndrome.'
But it only works with him.

At least they made Jaws a villain again in the Brosnan era. ;)

Die another day, moonraker, and quantum of solace are painfully horrific films

F*cking TWINE. Dear God... How can anyone like that movie? The villain is so painfully obvious, and nobody suspects it except Bond, who then drops it two seconds later, and picks it back up again five minutes after that. And then you've got Renard, the man who winces more than once in the film, despite not being able to feel pain! Who's the obvious traitor in Zukovsky's casino? The guy with all the f*cking gold on him! Every bloody thing in the film was so obvious, and nobody ever seemed to realize it! Christ, I hate TWINE!

Amen to this. TMWTGG is just boring and aggressively unexotic despite its settings.

DAD also has serious problems but I think Brosnan is one of the better elements (he's far better here than in TWINE). Yes, Berry is terrible, but so is most of the cast (Will Yun Lee, Toby Stephens, Rick Yune, Madonna, the Hong Kong hotel guy, the guy in Cuba, the list goes on and on...)

I have never understood the hate for Dalton. His performance anticipated the entire Craig era. And he had some *really* nice, believable chemistry with Maryam D'Abo--and she didn't even die in the end!

You can actually Punch him like that in the game for fun. :)) Jaws will usually clothesline you if you do it. Or try to bite you.

In the game, Jaws rips out a big electrical pylon your supposed to push him into via punching.

TWINE is easily top ten for me. Slightly Over complicated but compelling story, great villain, great action, great locations.

    Thank God!
  • The usual suspects: DAD, "California Girls" in the AVTAK PTS, the slide whistle in Gun's car chase sequence, and the Tarzan yell in OP. Also not keen on M's feminista takedown of Bond in GE--not to mention Bond's lack of a forceful response. Arnold's TND score and Conti's scoring in the first third of FYEO are aural nadirs, along with AWTD and Lulu's TMWTGG.

Do we actually need a thread like this? Only going to cause problems i'm sure!

It's necessary because a few threads got derailed badly from someone constantly hating on Moore.

That's not true! Roger Moore is by all accounts a very nice man. It's his soft, soft, soft, embarrassing take on Bond I have an issue with.

It takes a clown to beat another.
