And the Laz-er. :)
Also, @Birdleson, I "love" THE LOVE BOAT. Used to watch it when I was a kid believe it or not, hahaha.
How dare you! How can you bump up this fabulous thread. The best I have never seen before!
How could I miss it? Now I have to read through GODAMNTWENTYFIVEPAGES of pure bliss!
Why @Murdock Why??
And yes, Dalton is a goddamn disgrace in GoldenEye !
Negativity only thread! Fantastic!
One thing that gives me the right arseache is @Murdock calling anyone who dares to slate SP a whining baby.
... That's what this thread is for, right?
You mistake "negativity thread" for "insulting thread" obviously.
I'm happy for you that you are content lapping up whatever EON serve you but some of us wish for the series to reach greater heights than it is currently doing.
We criticise because we love Bond and think things should be better.
=D>
I know this post is 2 month old, I'm sorry, but I just had to. I hate DAD too - the only Bond film I can say that about.
The same applies to the people who criticise Skyfall. They thought things should get better and got it with Spectre.
Just because the self-important Skyfall fantatics think Spectre isn't good doesn't make it true.
You persist in trying to provoke me. I'm not lapping up a goddamn thing. I've been very happy with what EON have been doing. Sorry EON broke your toys but they aren't going to make everyone happy. I don't know what some expected. I don't now what greater heights but I think they are doing just fine. There is criticism and their is excessive nitpicking to the bone.
I HATEHATEHATE Daniel Craig, how could he do this to me.
I never really bought him as James Bond and Skyfall the dreary, drab snot was the last straw.
And then he does Spectre, where he delivers the best Bond performance since Thunderball, the most fun and spectacularly action Bond since GoldenEye, walking self-confident and smooth and cool through the scenery looking fantastic. And now I want more of him!
I HATEHATEHATE Daniel Craig, how could he do this to me.
I didn't expect the character of Blofeld to pissed all over by making him Bond's brother.
I did expect that with three years they could have come up with a script that didn't feel more rushed than the QOS one which was hampered by a writers strike.
Is asking for some truly memorable action and a third act that doesn't implode like a collapsing star excessive nitpicking?
Don't get me wrong SP is a very solid entry. Certainly top half but it could and should have been better.
Like an Arsenal fan you're happy with 4th every season (and 4th every season is nothing to be sniffed at) but it's just that some of us strive to win trophies.
They didn't make Blofeld Bond's brother. Blofeld said his father told him to treat Bond TREAT him like a little brother. That's not the same thing. They took a stab in the dark and did something different with the character as they should have. Would you rather have had the African War Lord version or the Female version Logan thought of in the early versions? At least we got something a little more true to the source. It's a radical departure yes but nothing so out of the proportions people are blowing it out of.
Well as I've posted in earlier the Movie industry isn't a perfect one. It's volatile, nothing goes perfect in it these days. Especially Sony. I'm sure under a different distributor partnership EON would have most likely put out a better product. Those little things have to be taken into account.
Hey I agree, The third act was a little rushed but that's not that had nothing to do with the issue's I'm having here.
I don't watch sports but I'm a BOND fan. I've been happy with 90% of all the Bond movies released in the last 50 years. Granted I'm 24 years old and have a personal bias and love of this franchise, I prefer embracing and discussing the positives of the series instead of dwelling on the negatives. As seen in the past with every low the series had there was a high to pick it back up so maybe, just maybe Bond 25 will be just what every fan wants.
Thanks for pointing out the bleeding obvious. Brother, foster brother, just someone who visited their house a few times - that all just boils down to semantics. The fact is that they present Bond and Blofeld as having a personal relationship with each other which is utter bollocks.
You make it sound like those were the only choices and going with the brother angle was the best of three shit options. Why not just go with a normal Blofeld and scrap the brother bullshit?
Which source would that be exactly? You must give me the name of your occulist because having read all the Fleming books many times I fail to recall the scene where Franz and young James hang out at the Kitzbuhel pool hall or go on the pull drinking Hoodch and dancing to Come On Eileen at Chasers nightclub in Kufstein.
I don't know much about the film industry but I don't really see how a different company putting up the money would have suddenly made Logan and P&W write a much better script.
But the only way you make anything better is by analysing the things that didn't work and trying to improve them not patting yourself on the back and saying well done for that. Even OHMSS is not perfect and has things that could be improved and surely the Holy Grail we all wish for is a perfect Bond film?
When I first heard about it I didn't like the idea but as it's executed in the film, It's okay with me. I'll gladly take it over bumbling Blofeld in drag any day.
Well for all we know they were the only options thanks to Logan's incompetence.
I guess that all boils down to semantics. The backstory is different but the way Blofeld conducted himself was more in line from the novel character.
The leaks caused quite a bit of controversy if I recall correctly. At least P&W saved the script. It's not perfect but I was happy enough with it.
But I haven't seen a whole lot of analyzing besides a small few. Others have been acting like rabid dogs and can't stop beating a dead horse. I'm not saying you are in particular but in general that what I see going on here. There's constructive criticism and whining rants. People learn from their mistakes the don't need it yelled into their ear. YOLT puts me to sleep sometimes but that's a 49 year old movie, ranting about it isn't going to change anything.
And I think for many Bond fans their first Bond movie is perfect.
Glad this "negative" thread is back up and running. So here is my negativity for today:
I hate Bond "turning Japanese" in YOLT so much. It had its moment, that film (including glorious soundtrack and scenery) but then that bit came along and it was darn near a Monty Python moment for me. Terrible! And hard to get out of one's mind.
