More like honey I shrunk the suit

Where 'tight' on DC works is shown with good effect in the second teaser pose and the still in the snow of Austria where he looks straight out of a real life SAS mission.

When he then dons a tight suit to me he just looks like a hired heavy / thug / bouncer who's never normally seen wearing a suit and is uncomfortable doing so - maybe it's deliberate to accentuate his physique but there's no class or panache about him.

Those suits definitely don't look comfortable enough to sleep in like Terrance Young made Sean do.

Kind of hard to look classy when you have a heavy wire attached to a harness wrapped around the top of your body, with a heavy machine gun hanging on a strap from your shoulder, hoping over a fence and walking along a long narrow strip 4 flights up. He's doing a difficult stunt, and expecting his suit to hang perfectly in these pap shots coming from a lousy angle is a bit much.

I hate the tight suits too, but when he is doing stunts like this with pap cameras pointed up his ass, it's asking a bit much to have him looking "immaculate." I'd bet part of this stunt will be recreated in the studio to allow him to hop gracefully over the fence, with the cameras obviously shooting from a far more flattering angle. Sometimes the clothes criticism in here is right on, but this criticism, not so much.

Fair point. I'm seeing the opportunity to view the clothing being filmed as there seems little opportunity to do so. I just don't like the gorilla wearing a butler shirt and tails look

Coming from someone who doesn't mind how the suits fit, why must everyone continue to discuss the same idea in this thread? We all know Daniel likes very form fitting clothing. Daniel can pull it off, and sitting here complaining isn't going to change anything. Perhaps for the sake of variety, we could talk about the pattern on the suit from Mexico which looks like a sort of Prince of Whales pattern (just my guess).

I understand that many of you are very passionate about the way Daniel has his suits cut; however, we all understand that. I feel that we should discuss the type of knots that are used in the ties or, perhaps try to find little details such as cufflinks used, rather than saying the same thing over and over again.

This is just my two cents. Please no one take offense.

Thing is, this thread has the word 'style' in the title. Guess we could talk about the colour of Daniel's socks though

I understand that; however, saying the same thing over and over again is pointless. Style is more than the way something fits. Style is every single little part of what is being worn. From, a dimple in the tie to yes even the color of socks being worn, style is not just the fit. All I'm saying is there is plenty of things we could talk about rather than stating the same facts that everyone has already read.

I think a lot of the comments have rightly focused on the tailoring, which I personally feel leaves a lot to be desired - however it does look better than SF at the moment which is something I guess. Tailoring is a very important component of 'style' for an English spy with heritage like Bond, so understandably it has had some focus on this thread.

I'm sure we will move on once other photos appear.

I'm happy to discuss his socks too if we get a photo of one. ;)

The style is the overall effect of the whole ensemble no matter how nice the dots or dimple of the tie or indeed the length of the socks. That effect has clearly polarised opinion on this matter and talking about the smaller specifics just ignores the elephant in the corner of the room.

I would say, with my own purely subjective personal opinion, that at least the colours being worn are more visually appealing and compliment DC's build more than those in SF.

I get it though, everyone's taste and style is different. The problem seems to kick off when these differing views meet in relation to Bond. The style of Bond matters. I really cannot see many would get too intense in feelings about what type of suit Tom Cruise may wear in Mi but hey, I haven't looked, maybe they do?

Well said. Bond is Bond - with history, heritage and a certain English class - he must also be progressive however, but within the confines of timeless elegance imho.

Actually I agree totally about the coloring. I thought the light grey suits in SF really washed Craig out. The very unflattering hair cut and white beard also aged him badly which was probably Mendes intent, but it didn't serve Craig very well. He looks much better in dark colors.

On the subject of Cruise. I'd guess there is probably zero discussion of his suits on the MI sites. If you want to get upset about how a suit looks during a stunt, there are pap pictures on the MI5 thread that have his suit jacket flapping up around his head during the plane stunt and a huge stunt cable attached to his back.

The Mexico suit looks very good. Still a little Lagerfeldian with that point collar shirt, but way better than what we've seen in Rome.

    Looking dapper as ever! :-bd
Yes,Craig looks real good in these shots. Love the way that suit looks, with or without harness.
I forgive him for the Rome photoshoot.

Looks similar to his suit from the ending of Casino Royale. I approve. :D

Maybe just the moment the camera was triggered to me the suit makes him look old and heavy. The jacket is too short that when he lifts his arms it's riding up and making him look top heavy. Nice colour of blue, right in fashion.

The suggestion that we talk about Bond's style and ignore fit seems a bit odd. Fit is the basis. If you're wearing something that doesn't fit it doesn't matter what the pattern is or how many dimples your tie has. It's a bit like saying "sure Craig isn't wearing trousers with his suit, but lets ignore that and discuss the print of his underwear."

Matt Spaiser of Suits of James Bond has cast his well-trained eye over this latest 'effort' and, let's say, he isn't complimentary. Have to agree with him...100%.

It's too early to comment, but just based on SF, I'd prefer if they fired Temime and brought back either Frogley or Hemming for the next one. Both did excellent work on QoS & CR respectively. I really liked the style in both those films.

I couldn't disagree with MrSwinderman more. Fit is everything - if your clothes don't fit you correctly it is impossible to look remotely stylish.
This decision to dress DC in this tight garb is a misguided sop to youth fashion and is completely inappropriate for 007 or, indeed for a man of Craig's age.
Furthermore, it is already on cat walk retreat and is regarded as an embarrassing epoc.
We need to launch a mission to get 007 a proper tailor and do away with all this nonsense.

Style is definately the fit, my tailored suits certainly look and feel better than the 'off the rack' ones. However, I'll reserve judgement until I see the pieces in the film.....you can't really tell from these images.

Ahhh the old "its too tight comment" .... With all respect, usually used by someone without an impressive figure and jealous of someone with a figure to show off. I spend alot of time working out and its usually my paper weight, or over weight friends who razz me about wearing suits "too tight".

Bond is classy, but needs to look like he could beat you to a pulp. I think the Tom Ford look of SP and SF suits Craig best. Love it. Dresses should show off a women's figure in a classy tasteful way... suits are the equivalent for men.

I will say I do prefer the SP colours so far as opposed to the SF ones. The "washed out" comment was a good description.

    Great styling IMO.

haha sometimes the truth is bold Nick, I've been reading this for a long time. Figured I'd just call it as it is. Where I may meet half way with Villiers is that its questionable for a man nearing 50 yes. Although I suspect the age of Craig's Bond is a tad younger than Craig. Open debate on that one, but when someone suggests Tom Ford isn't a proper tailor I raise an eyebrow.

Either way, glad its an intense topic. Bonds a men's fashion icon, sets a lot of trends and is worthy of being debated! :)

It's differing opinions, it's not a "fact" that it isn't as as much as it isn't "calling it as it is" - @999 and @doghouse - please respect that not everyone agrees with you, but it doesn't mean that one opinion is right and another opinion is wrong.

I don't really see how disagreeing with someone who says that critique of the suits not fitting only comes from old fat people is in anyway incorrect. In "fact", I know it's not correct.

There was more to his opinion than that. The latter part is his opinion...

This is the debate, not the "overweight" part that you're picking out.

You guys are dreaming if you think Craig or any future Bond actor is going to be wearing bespoke. It's just too time consuming to make bespoke suits that can satisfy the quantity of suits the movie demands. Someone like Fiennes' M can get away with it because ge's doing next to nothing but with the action and stunt doubles Bond's suits will never truly be bespoke fits. Which is a shame but I fail to see why the suits can't be better fits though. QoS had Craig wearing the best suits in terms of fit so far for his tenure as Bond. Howver, I'm not overly fussed with the SF and SP suit fits but it is a tad annoying that it is possible to have Craig wearing sharp and close to the body suits without looking tooooooo tight or on the ill-fitting side. But as I said, real, full blown bespoke suits just isn't going to happen.
