Based on the trailer, I'm sure this is one of his best Bond wardrobes.
Well, the full trailer is out and it confirms that Bond's suits are, as predicted by many authors in this thread, rubbish!
The suits are way too tight and they already look out of date.
Frankly, they look cheap and that bow tie that he sports with his ivory dinner jacket looks like a novelty out of a Christmas cracker — it strongly resembles that worn by that iconic UK comedian, Ken Dod.
Happily some of his casual gear looks good and 'M' looks fabulous.
Why, oh why didn't they get the greatly missed @Villieurs53 to advise them. He had it nailed with his first post in this thread.
Yeeeea, shame about that
BTW, how would you know if Villiers53 was greatly missed, as he left months before you joined?
Although I have no desire to rehash the debate over the cut of Bond's suits.
I'm afraid a subject as important as 007's sartorial suiting can never go undiscussed.
The tight suiters out there will doubtless be eating their 'Mad Men' ties. By the time the movie comes out Danny's ball crushers will be on sale at an H&M near you.
Hopefully the movie will be great but I will be wincing every time Danny has to move in those corsets.
Happily I can guarantee Bond fans that he will be correctly dressed in my book!
DC is certainly rocking it style wise for Spectre! It is also great to see Bond in a White Tuxedo every now and then. I think the last time was in Octopussy!
A View to a Kill!
The white version has been seen in: GF, DAF, TMWTGG, OP and AVTAK...and now SP.
Ofcourse! I knew it was Moore though! ;)
A short summary:
Black Tie "Casino Royale", with peak-lapel collars, and classic bow tie (Brioni):
Black Tie "Quantum Of Solace", with shawl collars, and diamond-end bow tie (Tom Ford):
Black Tie "Skyfall", with slightly more blue dinner jacket, though classic bow tie (Tom Ford):
White Tuxedo "SPECTRE", ivory white 70's peak-lapel collars, and diamond-end bow tie (Tom Ford):
I think the strength of Craig's Bond's style is in his casual wear. I really liked his Harrington/Polo/Jeans outfit in the QoS finale and my favorite outfit from Spectre thus far is the tan suede jacket and navy polo he was spotted wearing in Morocco. I think Craig's Bond is really the first since Connery to show that you can be sharply dressed and stylish without constantly wearing a suit and sticking out like a sore thumb in every possible situation. Bond should always dress appropriately for the occasion.
DC if anything looks younger than he did in CR LOL. He must have sold his soul to the devil.
Bond does indeed where quite a few suits, which I for one am happy about but they are varied and also, Bond wears at least 4 different outfits which aren't suits in this movie so you rest easy.
Glory be to the father that you'll never direct a Bond movie then.
DC is looking much better in all the suits here compared to SF - based on the brief clips we've seen in this new stunner of a trailer. I can't wait for the release date.
I think he should wear a suit when the plot requires it. His attitude and the way he wears his clothes is what separates him from blue collar heroes. Even when he wears a Speedo in TB or when his clothes are tattered like in DN.
Exactly right imho. He is not a male model poser. He is a man of action with class....which means the right outfit for the right occasion is 2nd nature to him. SC did it best (and you noted excellent examples). PB did it worst (almost always in suits which I for the life of me could not understand). DC seems to be going back to the SC approach (suits where required, and smart casual when the situation demands it).
the thing that gives me pause is the scene in the trailer in Mexico City where Bond is attempting an assassination in a full suit.
This montage says it all. The only one that got it remotely right is Brioni in CR.
The rest is for the read and laugh file and as for the ivory one (yes it is ivory guys NOT white or cream) it just makes hemlock like Villeirs3.
As the great, departed Ken Dodd said in one of his posts, getting away with the ivory is an advanced sartorial skill and Danny just hasn't got it.
It just makes him look like a waiter and remember what happened in CR, somebody chucked him their car keys, it could happen again in Spectre with him wearing this!

Ralph Lauren fashion show 2015:
Bond wearing a suit is a visual short cut for class and style IMO. It's also the least achievable look to everyone in the audience. A savile row suit is both expensive and British. Ie out of reach of the vast majority of the audience.
