    I still live in the hope that we Will see more special features. We will perhaps get something new at comic-con?

    That's nothing new and should be all we get for the features until the next upgrade. I think the 60th anniversary would convince EON to open their vaults a little more, after 16 years!

    I dont know if this is the same anywhere else, but im in Duban, South Africa, and was told by 2 major DVD stores that all the James Bond Blu-Rays had been recalled. Until November 2012.
    Maybe they are re-releasing them idividually as well. I certainly hope so because i hate the packaging for the box set... And the lack of extras!

    I hope there's more extras announced. I've got the UEs of my 5 favourite films, and then all the special editions so if there's only the extras we've seen before and the few new featurettes on the set, the only reason to bother would be the better picture quality, which doesn't bother me that much. Bit disappointed if it's the case, was looking forward to Star Wars on Blu Ray, and James Bond on Blu Ray-thought it'd actually get me into Blu Ray, but don't appear if they will. Just hoping that the Indiana Jones Blu Ray release is better!

    Well, at the time it is two new featurettes about the 50 anniversary and we are going to get the videoblogs from Skyfall. Other then that, nothing. Not even the extended material that we got for CR is on this set.

    Yes, which is why I'm worried why that's all we'll get...most of the material on the set are from the SEs and UEs, SEs released around 10+ years ago, UEs 6 years ago. I was delighted to buy the UEs 6 years ago, not so fond on getting the same material repackaged 6 years on for what should be a special event!

    It just seems like all the old material in a new place, and I do believe my old collection (DN - CR) works well enough for me. Even the CR UE I have on blu-ray is better than what I was given in that set, and I can only surmise the version of QoS I have on blu-ray is probably the best I'll ever see, in terms of special features.

    I've got to admit I care more about video and audio quality over bonus features. I don't want commercials talking about how everything is remastered, I want clarity.

    Well, I'm bothered about it too, Canada, but just the UEs are good enough for me in terms of quality now. Not sure how much more the picture could be improved.

    It is the 50th anniversary. Come on, we should get something more then the featurettes, deleted scenes etc that we have seen soo many times. Just look at the Star Wars blu-ray set that was released last year, or at the Avengers Blu Ray box. Those stuff are hilariuos. But we Bondfans get material that is from 1999 or 2006, just re-issued.

    I am so dissapointed on EoN if we don't get more special featurettes!

    Well prepare to be dissappointed then as the spec of the box set has been released on Amazon and lots of other sites. Theyre not suddenly going to announce a load of extra documentaries, deleted scenes etc.

    What you see is what you get - discs that are 6 years old, just in Bluray.

    And in CRs case theyve actually gone backwards by giving you less. The CR special edition should be the template - they shouldve given every film that treatment for the 50th then they might have convinced me to buy it. As it is I'll just get OHMSS,TLD and GE as theyre the ones I'm really missing on Bluray. Then I'll probably pick up the rest bit by bit in a year or so when they come down in price.

    I think I'll save my money for the Indy box set as say what you like about Lucas but he usually dangles some nice carrots for the fans to get them to buy.

    Along with Die Another Day but that happened with the UE release and now we'll never get those missing extras back.

    Don't get too excited, my money's on the discs being identical to previous releases.

    Exactly. They're hardly going to leave off stuff like deleted scenes, screen tests and loads of documentaries from the original list of extras and then suddenly reveal them now. At best you might get the odd bonus thing like a different trailer or, more likely, the exact same discs that we already have.

    Just had a quick squizz on the BBFC page to see if anything new had been submitted with the upcoming blu ray release.

    So far the only things of interest is the 142m 15s runtime on OHMSS as listed. When has it ever been THAT long? Blu Ray menu transitions for said film have also been submitted. Exciting.

    TND has also now been passed as 12 on blu ray as opposed to 15 (ultimate edition dvd)...will this still be the uncut version and the BBFC have decided to downgrade the rating as it really isnt all that bad?

    GE remains as 15 with Strong Violence warning listed

    In addition all Bond Movies ready for Blu Ray release have been submitted throughout July to BBFC with Video and Online submissions listed. Looks like UK might be getting the streaming experience too.

    That's it for now...will keep looking. :-)

    Yeah but my UE DVD states a running time of 136 mins. The faster rate couldnt account for 6 mins surely?

    Although I would say the chances of us getting a extra 5 mins of new footage from nowhere are as close to zero as winning the Euromillions. They wouldve at least mentioned it as an incentive for people to buy rather than just slip it under the radar at the last minute.

    BFI screen online lists OHMSS as 140 mins. So no, there is no new footage.

    It's all to do with PAL (region 2) speed up. PAL runs at 24 fps (frames per second) instead of the standard NTSC‎ (other regions) rate of 25 fps. This amounts for a run time of 96% the standard total on region 2 DVDs, making their run times 4% shorter.

    For example, Casino Royale, a 144 minute film is only 138 minutes on the region 2 DVD because of this.

    That 4% accounts for 6 minutes, which is quite significant really. You would never guess it would be that much.

    EDIT: OK, much of this has already been said but hey, this is my take on things. At least I got an opportunity to share my useless knowledge. ;)

    Yes, but if you look at the blu-ray of CR run time is 144mins because of this, so OHMSS would be about 6 mins longer, frame rate makes quite a difference on a film 2-and-a-half hours long. Just can't wait to see it on blu-ray.

    Thanks for all the explanation with regards to length of the film etc.
    However, here is the most bizarre change so far
    BBFC rated Diamonds Are Forever as '12' for Blu Ray release earlier this month (main film not extras)...it has been PG for years and years...what made the BBFC change their mind?

    My only possible suggestion is Ms O'Toole's high def breasts in the pool! :-)

    Also for all those wanting to collect Bond on Blu Ray seperately due to owning previous titles and not wanting to pay for a full box here is some news (USA at least) that might mean you are in luck.

    I think all the films will get an individual release next March, when Skyfall is released on BD.

    This links seems to suggest EON have something up their sleeve.

    I hate the prospect of waiting for GE to be out in blu-ray another four months after it is released this way. Oh well, if that's what I have to do, then that's what I have to do.

    True. Any thoughts on DAF? Seems a really curious decision especially when more voilent films are being downgraded over time..this goes up?

    It's to do with the special features, I reckon. They've been re-evaluated and as a result, the film's rating has been pushed up.

    That was my initial thought too but this is for the film proper, the extras get their own listing. Ive emailed them anyway to get particulars. Keep you posted. ;-)
