Fair enough, Roger Moore is an outright legend and a wonderful human being and all that... But could he HANDLE HIMSELF IN A FIGHT?? Huh? Touche! You guys didn't think about that did you!

Just so long as nobody talks about Fight Club, I won't blame Moore for that conversation.

I have been pretty clear that I am no RM as Bond fan. That doesn't mean I dislike him
or think he's a lousy actor. I'm sure we'd get along quite well if the opportunity arose.
For me and many others, his interpretation of Bond didn't suit us. The series definitely turned with DAF, and Moore was the right man at the right time to build upon that new direction. Unlike SC who began as a virtual unknown, Moore had name recognition going in to LALD. I get the decision. A fictional character is always going to reflect to an extent the attributes and qualities of the actor playing him. There is plenty of precedent for such changes in film history: Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Who, Jack Ryan, etc. As Moore made the role his own, the writing embraced his personality and traits more and more.

It appears we live in less tolerant societies. Today it seems everyone is angry and pissed.
"My Bond is better than yours." "My faith is the only faith." "My wealth, my pigmentation, my gender, my sexual preference, my my my is the be all and the end all."

To blame RM for everything does him and every one of us who didn't care for his interpretation a disservice. Like it or not, this is a site whereby art and artistry are critiqued, reviewed, and evaluated.

In the final analysis, I am not an RM fan, no matter how many millions love him. I couldn't have been more pleased when he left the series. But unless you're married to him, he's your dad, brother, or uncle, or just your best friend, it's probably best you don't take the critiques, reviews, and evaluations personally.

Very true Crabkey. But it also cuts both ways, why are some people
( who also don't know him) decide to Personally be nasty and cruel
About him, knowing full well it annoys so many fans ?
Sure many probably didn't like him as Bond but they can be adult in
How they express themselves, keeping it friendly and adding to an
Enjoyable discussion and exchange of views. ;)

    Sure many ;)
I think the comment blaming Sir Rog for global warming and the oil crisis were particularly unkind.

Ah ! Martin your back, I'm sure you did find them unkind, as you do seem to
Be lacking in any form of " humour" , like you mate you regard insults as a
Form of humour, so when you come across a piese of satire you are confused. ;)
Still stick around many at MI6 have a great sence of fun, I'm sure you'll pick it up .

I blame Roger Moore for Everything...

Or Nothing! Seriously, if it weren't for Moore's Bond, the game Everything or Nothing wouldn't have Jaws or Nikolai Diavolo (who was the protege of Max Zorin). I can't hate him too much.

I blame Roger Moore for taking Bond films to another, rather sublime, level with TSWLM and causing me to still have that film in my top ten ... indeed probably for the rest of my life.

And I blame Roger for making me keenly aware of whether a man can raise one eyebrow or not.

Indeed. Of all Sir Rog's henious crimes, single handedly writing, directing, filming and doing all the stunt work on TSWLM must rank as the most dastardly. What sick mind would dream up such pastry-infused 'entertainment'? If I have to see one more shot of that PTS I'm gonna do something bad, like put the DVD on and watch the whole film. Makes me want to puke. Apparently he also stars in the movie as well. What a d*** - casting himself in his own movie as a walking pastry.

I blame Roger Moore for making critics say this about OP
"Starring Roger Moore and his stuntmen".

How dare you Sir Roger due to your overstaying your welcome, you had critics say this about AVTAK
"they spent more time filling in the wrinkles in Roger Moore's face than filling up the plotholes."

    What doubelohdad has gone?

You know I'll almost miss his tedious 'flopping about like a pastry' posts. They were a constant in a world of flux.

Today I just found out my boss stars in extreme gay porn so anything is possible. Honestly I'm not even joking.

I blame Roger Moore for inspiring me to acting classier, more polite, and more eloquent as both a child and an adult. To think I could've ended up as crass and obnoxious as so many of my other Brooklyn friends.

I blame Roger Moore for keeping the Bond series going, thus providing hundreds if not thousands of jobs during times of economic hardship during the 70s. What a jerk.

I blame Roger Moore for his tireless UNISEF efforts over the years. Who does that guy think he is helping impoverished children. [-(
