I proposed this roughly a year ago, and everyone disagreed. Lesson learned for the next one, I hope.
Having said that, I'm with many people here that I'd like to see David Arnold return for B25. His live CR concert suggests he'd be willing to return. I also doubt that Newman would return without Mendes, but then again, SF did earn the franchise's 1st Academy Award nomination for Best Score since TSWLM, so maybe that prestige will be too much for EON to pass up.
The Oscars are overrated Arnold! Arnold! Arnold! Arnold!
It did the same to me too. The Bond theme bit was excellent but when it segued into the rehash post-couch fall I was taken out of it.
I agree on the ambient score being rather atmospheric. I quite like it actually. I'm just not keen on the action scoring he came up with for the film (including during the car chase, plane chase and the PTS copter sequence). If he's back I hope he is more inventive and inspired this time out, and I hope they give him enough post-production time to get it right.
For me, the fun started when last month the Bond 25 release date was confirmed @BondJames, and when Daniel Craig said "Yes!". As of today, I am still wetting my pants for it :-P. I started writing articles for the Dutch Bond site https://www.jamesbond.nl/author/g-j-waterink/, I am buying coffee table books of Bond again, I just bought the upcoming Dynamite Comic "Casino Royale"......That's what happens to me. I turn into the weirdest Bond nerd once arelease date is known :-P.
@007Blofeld ...THIS
So my answer. Is SOMEBODY in here going to share with my excitement for goodness sake???!!!
I'm more hesitant (given what little we know as of now), but look forward to it of course, as a lifelong fan of the series. In the meanwhile I have the exceptional back catalogue of films to keep me busy whenever I need my fix.
What films have you watched recently? Bond films I mean @bondjames :-)
You really chose to watch the finest of the bunch I might add ;-)
I actually watched SP as well in the last few months. I forgot to mention that. It went ok. Saw some things I didn't notice before. Still not keen on B25 being a continuation though. Rather it be an SF style standalone sendoff, no matter how unlikely that may be.
You know what we should do next @BondJames ? A sync-watch event of the worst of the worst Bond films. Like....YOLT, DAF, TMWTGG, MR, AVTAK, TND, DAD ;-).
I can find lots to like in all of the ones you mention above (some, like MR & TMWTGG are actually films I subjectively really enjoy), even though they are a bit low on my official rankings as well.
Taking this back to B25, I'm in a bit of a pickle. Part of me really wants a return to the old school light hearted take, but a part of me understands that it's best for the Craig era to close out in a more gritty, reality oriented manner.
Oi. YOLT is fantastic.
Wow! Consider my ticket already bought!

@Gustav_Graves yes I share the same excitement did you listen to the craig interview?
Nepotism. And Barry, and I'd venture to say Arnold, if they reused a track, would at least rescore it.
This is exactly how I feel about it. CR and QOS seem to be in a completely different 'world' (there must be a better way to say this) then SF and even more so with SP. And for Craig I prefer the take from his first two entries.
Four...
What is it with this fixation on David Arnold. There are so many other great movie composers. Yesterday I posted this picture about Trekkies. But in a way, this also applies to many Bond fans these days:
Nice stance you're taking against those who disagree with your views. It's not our fault Newman couldn't cut the mustard.
