    I disagreed at the time, hoping substantial news might be along soon. But we're in a stagnant phonie-war type situation now. The atmosphere in this thread is fetid and depressing.

    While I like Thomas Newman's SF score, his work on SP felt like his heart wasn't in it. I remember being pulled out of the PTS as soon as that section of the SF score was repeated, which is too bad because much of the score throughout the film is quite good and atmospheric.

    Having said that, I'm with many people here that I'd like to see David Arnold return for B25. His live CR concert suggests he'd be willing to return. I also doubt that Newman would return without Mendes, but then again, SF did earn the franchise's 1st Academy Award nomination for Best Score since TSWLM, so maybe that prestige will be too much for EON to pass up.

    Precisely. Well said. At least this thread has ongoing discussion among members expressing their views on what they want to see from B25. Most of the others are pretty much dead these days.

    It did the same to me too. The Bond theme bit was excellent but when it segued into the rehash post-couch fall I was taken out of it.

    I agree on the ambient score being rather atmospheric. I quite like it actually. I'm just not keen on the action scoring he came up with for the film (including during the car chase, plane chase and the PTS copter sequence). If he's back I hope he is more inventive and inspired this time out, and I hope they give him enough post-production time to get it right.

    I don't mind this thread. I've enjoyed the speculation and the debates about where they should go from SP and what that film did right or wrong and what should carry over. I find the constant bitching about it more tiring than the thread itself personally. Don't like it, don't read it. If you're waiting on real news @jake24 will update the tirle when we get some.

    In the last few months I've watched FRWL, TB, TLD, LTK & TSWLM (in honour of the 40th anniversary). They were all very satisfying experiences and reminded me of why I love this series so much.

    I actually watched SP as well in the last few months. I forgot to mention that. It went ok. Saw some things I didn't notice before. Still not keen on B25 being a continuation though. Rather it be an SF style standalone sendoff, no matter how unlikely that may be.

    It's an interesting idea @Gustav_Graves, but it's quite difficult to get people to coordinate viewings at one time. I for one tend to view films on a whim. Whatever takes my fancy on a particular night. I prefer for it not to be an exercise.

    I can find lots to like in all of the ones you mention above (some, like MR & TMWTGG are actually films I subjectively really enjoy), even though they are a bit low on my official rankings as well.

    Taking this back to B25, I'm in a bit of a pickle. Part of me really wants a return to the old school light hearted take, but a part of me understands that it's best for the Craig era to close out in a more gritty, reality oriented manner.

    That is basically the only value of DAD, as well. Without DAD, there is no CR. I guess they did big course corrections after TMWTGG and QoS, too. EON is alright at learning from their mistakes. Whenever a film is received in a lukewarm fashion, they really step up to the plate next time.

    When Adele won an Oscar for Skyfall, I felt it well-deserved ... yet Writings On The Wall also did win an Oscar, so ... they mean nothing. Bring back Arnold, please. I am listening to his QoS soundtrack right now and it's great ...

    This is exactly how I feel about it. CR and QOS seem to be in a completely different 'world' (there must be a better way to say this) then SF and even more so with SP. And for Craig I prefer the take from his first two entries.

    What is it with this fixation on David Arnold. There are so many other great movie composers. Yesterday I posted this picture about Trekkies. But in a way, this also applies to many Bond fans these days:

    He's a composer who understands and respects the Bond Sound. The very groundwork John Barry established. He has a great respect for John Barry whom was also his biggest Inspiration. He has a respect to the legacy to Bond music and actually gave a damn about the score. He took the concepts Barry created and updated for the modern age. At least he could compose a memorable Bond score.
