What if it turns out Bond shacked up with Monica? Makes a whole lot more sense!

That one, I can buy. Because his association with Madeleine as "lovers" made no sense.

I'm a pretty big fan of Monica Bellucci, but I'd rather B25 not have the same cast as SP. With all the talk about Madeleine possibly returning, Waltz, Hinx, and now Monica, it's like hoping Carey Lowell and Talisa Soto had returned in GoldenEye and being baffled when they didn't.
Aside from MI6 members, Bond included, I prefer that each Bond film have it's own individual cast and characters. I suppose in today's cinema climate that's asking too much. Besides after 4 years I doubt the general public will be pining to know what happened to Lucia, Madeleine, and Waltz's Blofeld.
Perhaps better suited for the "controversial" thread, I'll even go as far as this: if Blofeld does return in B25, I'd rather he be played by someone else.

Giacchino would be a great fit for Bond. He fits franchises and respects their established themes like a glove.

I simply can not believe that Nolan would 1. be bothered to make Craig's last when it's clear he wants to start fresh, and 2. would ever even consider remaking On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which is his favorite Bond movie. He's bold, but not that bold.

    A. Who says Bond 25 will be a remake of OHMSS? It could very well be that they look a bit more to LTK. Letting Bond getting married at the very start of the film. Killing off Madeleine at the very start of the film, like they did with Della.

    B. It is kinda appealing to a director if he's given the assignment to direct a majestic and terrific send-off for a Bond actor. It has been done before only once in a rather mediocre way with NSNA. But again, like I said so many times before, no Bond actor has been sent off in an unforgettable way. So Nolan could actually be tempted into such a project.

    C. Big advantage is, that the final 3/4th of the film could actually be a great story. It could get more focus and better narrative, if we get rid of Madeleine Swann at the start of the film.

    D. Daniel Craig returns for God sake. Embrace that fact. Because we all know what that means. Try to think progressive. Try to be a bit more positive about whatever idea the producers are thinking off. It might actually work. Our desires as fans are known, but we aren't in the director's chair. And at this stage it's just unconfirmed news.

If they kill off another one of Craig's leading ladies, they're establishing a dangerous trend of using women as throwaway female characters to serve as cheap emotional weight during the Craig era, and that is a big problem for a franchise trying to rebrand Bond "girls" as Bond "women" and convince viewers feminism can exist in the franchise. They shouldn't kill Swann, or the leading Bond actress, at any point in Bond 25.

To your second ("B.") point, Nolan has suggested, and it's been reported multiple times, that he intends to introduce a new take on Bond and the franchise if he gets a chance, and last we all could check, he wasn't interested in doing a Craig movie. That could have changed, but there's no significant evidence, quote, or report to suggest any change.

How many women have to die so that James Bond can feel important? It's honestly becoming a dangerous and disgusting trend.

I am fully embracing Craig's return. Just do something with him that isn't something previously done in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, License To Kill, Casino Royale or Skyfall.

Breaking news Donald Trump will write the script and Elon will co write.
  • All guess work. These "insiders" are never accurate. I am willing to bet my life Bond 25 has no rocket / space element. What this is, is journalists jumping on prior Craig comments. In which he said a few years ago "sending Bond in to space, I am for that" this was a joke about not repeating what had already been done under his tenure. What can I said Bond news sells newspapers.

Also, this came out the weekend of what would have been Roger Moore's 90th birthday. There was a renaming of a Pinewood stage after him and a memorial service. The attention should (and really is) on that, rather than this pish posh.

Point taken. Musk should probably concentrate on making Tesla profitable than contributing script ideas.

I'd say that's happened already with Severine in Skyfall.

We've read Bond's psychology well enough to know the kind of man he is. At least in Craig's era, as the others were purely drawn to be pulp fiction untouchable heroes (as opposed to Fleming's down-to-earth character). We certainly don't need to go deep down into that territory, again. Enough is enough.

It all depends what you throw at a character. There's always stuff to explore if you put a character in a place/situation they've not been or dealt with before.
Is there any more one could throw? We've explored every side of him.

There's always something. For example, Bond has loved and lost, and Tracey in OHMSS or Vesper in CR were the big ones but before Bond entered a committed long term relationship with them, they were killed. So Bond's longest relationship with a woman was with Judi's M - and we know how that ended. So these rumours about Bond being finally settled and married and out of Mi6 - perhaps for sometime, would be a whole new experience for him - and maybe he will struggle with that. Just saying - there's always something a character hasn't faced before.

If there is any truth to Bond marrying Madeleine, etc etc, and that is a very big IF at this point, without something to substantiate it.......
but if it were true, it might tie-in with setting up the YOLT Shatterhand story, ie recreating the post-death-of-Tracy scenario, leading to the assault on Blofeld & Castle of Death.

Personally, I do think the new film will be called Shatterhand, and have thought this for a long time, in fact going back to the time of the leaked SP scripts, however I don't think you need to kill off Madeleine, and certainly do not need to remarry Bond, in order to do something interesting with the Shatterhand-Castle-of-Death story.
And I think Barb&MGW know this true, so I predict no Bond-Swann marriage.
Just write her out. There are plenty of ways to do that.

Quoting the article: "Bond needs to keep up with the times and will be looking into Elon Musk’s world, spacecrafts, planes that can fly across the earth in an hour, cars turning into submarines."

It's complete BS, but Hell, that sounds like my kind of Bond movie!

    It's like a 21st century Moonraker.

I'd be really happy with that.
