Dramatically, wouldn't you say?
May I remind you that this is a film being penned by P&W, those world renowned purveyors of screen writing quality.
I give them more credit than most to be honest. I don't think they're amazing writers but they do a decent job and every now and again they do really well. I'm not expecting it to win any awards for the script but I think a lot of the marketing will focus on it being Craig's final Bond film which could lead to a lot of buzz around his performance, and if the film is good I don't think a nomination is out of the question. Purvis and Wade wrote CR and that got him a Bafta nom. I think if Hugh Jackman gets a nod for Logan this year then Craig could be a shoe in if they play their cards right.
'Based on the novel by Ian Fleming' I believe it stated in the CR opening titles. Credit where credit's due and all that.
I get where you are coming from though. The breakdown after Tracy dies, the rebuilding his life with Molony and in Japan, the final showdown with Blofeld and then the amnesia, leaving us with a husk of the man we all know and love sailing off to Vladivostok, gives more than enough material for an good actor to get his teeth into and a nom is not impossible.
And its not even the P&W factor that is the biggest sticking point as they have shown that they are competent enough when adapting Fleming directly with CR. If we were doing a straight up adaptation of the YOLT novel, albeit with a few more action scenes etc bolted on a la CR, I'd be very optimistic.
But the elephant in the room is the acrobatics the script will need to perform in order to get us from the end of SP to the events of YOLT. The contrivances of having Blofeld escape, Bond and Madeline living in happiness (marriage not particularly necessary) and Maddy killed all in the first act just to set up the starting point for the events of YOLT would be tough to pull off in the hands of good writers let alone P&W.
I'd like to think that they can pull it off (EON have a record of pulling a rabbit out of the hat when things are looking bleak) but some of the decisions made on SP were so appalling I have grave misgivings about everyone at EON HQ apart from Ralph Fiennes to be perfectly honest.
Actually what about Fiennes as a shout for director? From his veto of M being a traitor he clearly understands the characters better than anyone else working for EON.

I predict a similar timeline to Skyfall - Director named Dec 2017/January 2018 / Title cast announced Nov/Dec 2018. Production commencing shortly after.
Interesting, so nearly two years in advance of the actually release date? Not long to go then! ;)
Dan's stunt double on Casino, QOS and Skyfall replaced by Gordon Alexander, Andy Lister and James Embree in Spectre.
Whenever I read that quote there was the name Campbell in front or behind it. Maybe you could post just one link in which it is said by Craig ( even though I have a hunch that all I get will be insults). Also, doesn't it speak volumes that from the moment on he was established he stopped the heavy bodybuilding.
In SP we don't even see him topless (I'm sure much to your chagrin). Make you wonder why, doesn't it?
A large sex scene with Belluci was cut out to a. shorten the picture as running time was too long, and B for the middle eastern audience. It is well documented Craig spent a few months in New Zealand in a gym in preparation for the role

In Skyfall he was suppose to be washed up and losing body mass it was to fit the story.
As you can see here from the skin tight N-Peal turtleneck he is wearing in the promo poster he is still built https://www.thefashionisto.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/007-Spectre-Movie-Poster-2015-Daniel-Craig-800x600.jpg
Still expect the words 'Live and Let Die' to appear over that image ...
I am not one for Homage but did like that promo shot for Spectre.
Ever heard of Photoshop? Mind you I'm not disputing that he bulked up muscles for Spectre but to get a six pack it takes much more effort, and somehow I don't think he is still willing to give this effort.
He puts loads of effort to it.
One thing you cant fault Daniel on is his preparation and dedication once he is committed.
He gives everything to be honest.
Why he will be hard for EON to replace, the next actor has to buy in and make it there own. Days of an Actor turning up reading lines, sitting out of stunts and not having any say on wardrobe etc. should be a thing of the past. Craig's laid down the standard, if you want to be Bond speak up and own it.
One minute he's too bulky and Bond's physique shouldn't matter, the next he's clearly not putting enough effort in because he doesn't have a six pack. The guy can't win.
He's not as big as he was in CR because he's ten years older, so it's harder for him to achieve those results. Simple as. There's no grand conspiracy with him bulking him for the beach scene just to trick the audience into finding him attractive then not putting enough effort in and covering up for the rest of his movies. And even now, he's still in better shape than almost every single other Bond actor was in their movies.
@Germanlady never paid any attention to this guys posts before but if this is the sort of crap you've had to deal with then I feel for you.
Don't know about this to be honest. I think there is a danger of an actor having too much control. If the ridiculously skinny fitting suits are Craig's choice for instance then they should stop taking his wardrobe advice.
I also think that it's important to remember that EON will listen to who they want to. DC is BB's golden boy, her number one choice and he gets input because she seems to really like him and have a lot of respect for him. While Brosnan for example was apparently very vocal about his ideas and reservations during his era but he was Cubby's choice really and was never close to the producers, so he got ignored.
An actors job is to turn up and say their lines. They can try to throw themselves into it and get involved but at the end of the day it comes down to how much say the higher ups want them to have. Otherwise what are they meant to do? Refuse to shoot a scene and be outed as a diva?
I find it quite interesting, how many of you comment on him just as you a really knew him.
All you actually know about him is what he says in interviews ( and he seems to contradict himself quite often ) and what the public relations department lets out.
He gets to do it because the films deliver the $$$ look at what his films have made for the franchise.
I did know him,we went to school together.
The injuries he has sustained during filming of Casino, QOS then Spectre are testament to how much he puts in. All through stunts he choose to undertake himself rather than sit out and let the double do it. Unheard of for the title character, but Cruise made such a big deal over doing his own stunts on MI films I am pleased Craig has stepped up for the franchise by doing the same. I don't hear contradictions, a lot of the time I hear him responding to speculation like "is it true you wrote on Spectre", in which he was hoenst and said "I would call Sam in the middle of the night with ideas, and we would discuss them the next day, I wasn't writing down dialogue if that is what you mean".
