I will say it's funny how some call for the closing of this thread when we DO discuss 'Bond 25,' saying that this thread should be closed down due to a lack of concrete information, or we only have rumors, or there's over 100 pages and nothing solid, etc...but then discussing DC and Marvel in here is okay?

Let's start steering things a bit more back on track, everyone.

What we will probably do Creasy, is close this and start a proper Production thread just as soon as the first genuine news items start to come through.

@NicNac why is this not a proper production thread?

I wouldn't do that. Would just update title. No need cluttering forum with dead threads.

Isn't this the production thread??? I thought the mods were helpfully against multiple threads on the same thing?

I just don't see the point. It would be redundant let alone unfair given the effort I put into it.

Last time we had a production diary which I think Gustav Graves put together, updating it whenever there were proper specific events.

This isn't so much a production diary as a speculation thread. 116 pages long and no genuine entry yet.

I thought a new one (when needed) would keep it tidy but If you guys want to keep this one going then I won't be a party pooper.

The Spectre production timeline opened soon after SF was released, and still remains open. Once there is was more concrete news, discussions started to generate. This thread works the same way.

Yes, production on the next Bond film hasn't started yet - so presumably this thread is currently in the stage of speculation about production of the next Bond film? So this thread is still presumably about the production of the next Bond film. The fact that we are still speculating says a lot about the production of the next Bond film actually.

I do appreciate your recommendation but as soon as actually news starts filtering we'll find new things to argue about :P.

Plenty of other things to argue about in the meantime. :))

A new thread would soon turn into the same exact thing. The only way you would filter out all of the news only posts is to lock it and have only one person posting the updates. Maybe have both, a discussion thread of the latest updates, and a pinned thread of only the news updates and no discussion.

Either way, I actually enjoy reading everyone's thoughts and it doesn't offend me if someone has a differing viewpoint. As long as everyone can accept criticism to some degree everything will be fine.

I do not think Sam Mendes would return for Bond 25. This may confirm it as he will be directing The Voyeur's Motel

He nearly walked out on Spectre, so I don't think it is likely he will be back for any Bond film.

Good. ...didn't think he would but good. B25 is nowhere near production so not sure how that article proves he's not.

    Still hoping no.

He shot his load with SF. That was the film he wanted to make and he gave it his all. So yes, I'm also reasonably certain he is 'done'.

While I've been impressed with Mendes run with Bond, I'm glad he's moving on to other projects.

SF was trial and error, with SP he delivered 100% Bond.

He has confirmed the same thing in the past when he said he was done after SF, but now having done two, I'm sure he's done for good, thankfully...

I think it was once or twice (max) when he said he wanted to quite after doing Skyfall. But, he insisted moving away from Bond this time on more than one occasion. So, hopefully, the word revolving around him is true. Even though I appreciated Spectre bringing back some of the old Bond formulas, I hated how the story played out. I'm very keen to see another Casino Royale in Craig's run. Same atmosphere. Same cinematography. Same pacing. Same amount of character development. And no romance or "emotional" story, please. Just a normal spy thriller.
