Makes me think of the fuzz over that Tintin story some years ago. Should the old Bond films (or any of the novels for that matter) be banned or censored for not being politically correct? Just can't understand some people…
Not any less stupid. I’ve seen a thousand movies that feature different perspectives from my own, and I’ve enjoyed many of them. Just because you disagree with a character’s actions or the film’s culture doesn’t make it a “bad” or “offensive” thing.
true, whats mind boggling to me is when people bring sexism in movies up and think this is somehow an intelligent and needed contribution to the whole MeToo debate... which deals with real life problems. People should stop mixing movies and reality.
Every action hero in every movie kills tons of bad guys, somehow that does not bother anybody... it's ridiculous to bringing movies up in such debates.
Doomed. RIP one of my favorite pastimes (good thing I like to rewatch films).

If it isn't a black transgender woman with an eating disorder and in a wheelchair, people will riot.
I was going to post this and you beat me to it. "Anecdotal" evidence isn't evidence of a mass uprising against Bond.
Also, Bond has been criticized for more than 60 years. Here's one example, from April 1958, a review in the New Statesman about the novel Dr. No. It's often cited (and briefly quoted) in books about Bond.

And here's an October 2015 article by the same publication with many of the same themes as the recent "Millennials vs. James Bond" stories. As I type this, it's No. 1 Most Popular story on the New Statesman website. This recent surge of stories is nothing new and warms over themes of criticism going back years.

This makes me wonder if anything similar has been done to Norwegian translations as well. Only have a movie tie-in edition of Casino Royale and an edition of Live and Let Die published around 1970, in Norwegian. Most likely the latter that would have been shortened.
Off the top of my head, I can only think of two instances in which a woman threw herself at Bond, with no apparent agenda (Plenty and Bebe). He flat out rejected one of them, and almost did the other. Are there others?
No. That was not rape. I'm no lawyer but...
That's a bit trickier. He forced himself on her, for sure, but after the kiss we have no way of knowing what happened next or what PG's response was.
This is a tricky one; today I have no doubt that it would be handled differently. At the time, and in the context of the film it boils down to two alphas trying to impose their dominance over the other. They are in a rough business; Pussy is not a naïve, weak woman. She and Bond are dancing a dance that isn't always tender.
