They are also something the newer and especially the latest Bond films will never be -- familiar.
Or at least not right away.
Translated as please Daniel Craig quit so my boy Aidan Turner can become Bond and make all my dreams come true.
Oh @Mendes4Lyfe your posts in this thread get more unsubtle each time.
It’s like a forum bot that’s programmed to vomit up a re-worded declaration every 20 posts.
So were Q, Moneypenny and retreading the DB5, don't forget it.
Q was fine but Eve Moneypenny was a meh idea which ultimately didn't go anywhere or do anything groundbreaking. And the DB5, that's not a new idea. That's fan service.
Lets not get personal chaps eh ? we are all on the same side.
I could’ve done without all of those, personally, but when @PeterGreenhill made his comment I presume he was referring to the fact, in SF particularly, Mendes delivered a quite unique Bond film. It harbours an artistry and aesthetic we hadn’t seen before - and simultaneously played with expectations. To me it absolutely ‘feels’ like a Bond film, not because of the DB5, or Q, or whatever else (I hate the DB5), but because it has the requisite sense of class and style - combined with an atmosphere and tone not seen in the series before.
I dont mind the DB5 in SF because at least it has a purpose,a reason for being there,in that it gets Bond to Skyfall, blasts loads of mercenaries to oblivion, and gets blown to crap by Silva because he knows how much it means to Bond.
In other films its just a product placement and i hate that.
On a bank holiday Monday in UK? I don't think so.

This guy again seriously?!
I can feel my chest growing hair. =))
I nearly fell out of my seat laughing at that moment. The dramatic music and look of concern on Bond's face because of the death of his car (!!) is beyond ludicrous. Another reason why I can't stand SF.
Oh gosh, I never saw it that way before. I'll never be able to watch that scene the same way again. :))
Er,it was meant to be a tongue in cheek moment old chap.
Needless to say, I prefer the low-key approach in FYEO when the Lotus explodes.
I agree.
Had totally forgot about that. My issues with the Mendes films are never-ending…
Eh ... not convinced.
