I think Boyle's Bond will be one of the biggest "What ifs" in the history of this franchise..

    I really wanted to see Boyle's Bond :( :(

P.S. What detective movie is the title of this thread referencing?

2019 will be met. Shooting will be delayed until January (not a big deal since the cast and crew would have been assigned a Holiday Break anyways).

Is this just a hunch or inside info.

    PM me.

I think that if they begun shooting in January, it wouldn’t be an issue meeting a November release. Quantum of Solace began filming in late January and still got released in mid November. Casino Royale started filming in January as well.

    Correct.

Please refer to the first page. It's a murder mystery directed by Rian Johnson.

Seems the Boyle/hodge idea made its way around & was deemed very good & had some impact. I believe it since eon jumped on it. And now it seems we're back to a script by p&w.

Must've been too radical & would have looked odd compared to Craig's 4 other films.

I’d say filming starts in January (like CR); plus the cast n crew, going with the original schedule, were to get a holiday break in Dec and Jan...

The release dates will be met

I’m all for multiple people writing to improve a script, but you always the run the risk of a Frankenstein monster depending on the people at the top’s decisions/taste. I have to believe the contrast or elements that Boyle wanted will be known after B25 is released and then we can judge...

Sounds like Boyle wanted to be more faithful to the books which I’ve always wanted but Eon won’t have it. Disappointing. The films will never be as good as the Fleming books.

If this is all true, then they better use some of those good ideas in the film. What a waste otherwise. Losing a good Bond movie just sucks.

A James Bond page on Twitter claims they've heard rumours about Boyle and Hodge's script and that the story elements sounded very exciting. To tease, and then add no more is torture! Lol.

I've said it before but Boyle is all about plot. He'd only be on board if he felt he had a good story to tell - unlike Mendes for whom the plot was entirely secondary. A shame he didn't stay to see through his vision.

I’m trying to stay hopeful that some of this script/story can survive into Bond 25. It all sounds so good and original from what everyone has indicated. Going back to P&W after SP just sounds so boring and wrong... ugh.

Ok then ... if JamesBondlive on twitter/ our folks in charge of this website here (same people, I just learned) would give us some more info, it would be appreciated.

I know there is some link to EON, however close or far, I do not know ... with the people who own or run this website. That's fine. Them tweeting that Boyle's idea was great is fine with me. But we still do not know if EON is going to use most of his script, darn near all of it, only bits and pieces, or what.

To say "what could have been" purposely leads us to think Hodge's script will not be used OR at least the exciting main idea will not be used. I simply want clarify on that.

    @NicNac, @DarthDimi, @Benny and higher admin. powers that be, @JamesPage ~
If the people who run this website have the info available, it would be best for everybody (just my opinion) if they would clear up the particulars about the script:
    (without spoilers!)

    1) How much of Hodge's script will probably be used, as it stands now? 50% 80% 10%

    2) Is the main idea that had EON excited and sold on this script now gone, for sure?
And why would it be gone? EON owns the script and can use any part of it they want to. Why would EON toss that idea if they liked it so much. They don't have to.

    3) Are P&W coming back at all? I am fine if they are, either for main script or additional work on Hodge's script. Other writers confirmed yet?

I'd just like this script cleared up a bit (without spoilers) ... and the new director confirmed this month. I think both are possible to be achieved.

@4EverBonded Thank you for that post. I’d love any clarity we could possibly gain on the matter.

They can do it, apparently they are at least somewhat aware of what is happening, the bare bones at least. So give us a bone, I say. ;) Otherwise we will keep chewing on each other - ha!

A lot of clarification is needed. I wish EON would give us something official.

Uh-oh, despite what @Pierce2Daniel wrote earlier, @jamesbondlive is absolutely credible. It's foolish to assume the administrators of this site would post these tweets based on an anonymous message they have received through twitter.

I have no doubt that @peter is correct and EON is still intending to release the movie in 2019, but it won't be the edgy, high-octane, groundbreaking Bond film we were promised.

We need to know if the main idea is thrown out. I personally hope not. Why would they not use it? I really want an answer to that. It bugs me as it makes no sense to me (they loved it, so why not use it?).

Bottom line is a great script, no matter who writes it - but I sure want more info, and I think they can give us more in a fair way.

Thanks, @AgentJamesBond007 - I forgot James Page (though I've known that from years ago). I just added him to my above request for info.

When Peter Morgan left in the middle of Skyfall, not all of his ideas were completely tossed aside so I'm sure there will probably be some Boyle and Hodge ideas leftover.

I want the main idea clarified - if in or out.

I don’t think Boyle was a great loss.

I mean, do we really need more “edgy”?

A template Bond like the Glen films would be great.

EON shouldn’t fall into the trap of trying too hard to carve out new territory. At this point, a comfortable pair of socks will do. A film that doesn’t need to focus on Bond’s vulnerabilities or emotions.

I was happy to have Boyle - I thought that could be interesting, fresh. I was curious. But now I am more curious and wanting to know about Hodge's script. I do trust EON to get a good director.

A Glen-esque template for Craig to go out on would make me all too happy.
