    What's interesting is that after Boyle's replacement, you'd think they'd go for a staid and steady hand. However, Fukunga is probably more edgy and irreverent. Either he has a great take on thescript or Eon are intent on having a rocky production.

    I would say YES. "Mental-illness" related with some horror vibes, especially.

    IDK... Fukunaga seems like the perfect choice for a proper YOLT adaptation. Just saying...

    He's a great choice IMHO but, given the circumstances, there is no reason we should assume he was their first choice. Another few weeks and Ken Loach would have got a call. :-)

    His explanation for abandoning IT only two weeks before production is a little odd, no? The producers were afraid they couldn't control him, that he would go "rogue," so he had to leave? Doesn't make much sense.

    In the Guardian article that you posted earlier it mentions that he was brought in after the True Detective scripts were written and was able to put his own distinctive aesthetic stamp on things. Presumably this played a role in their decision to bring him on, along with perhaps something in the script idea which they think he may be a good fit for.

    I don't mind a February release date actually. The last DIE HARD movie, A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD was released for Valentine's Day instead of the traditional summer slot and it was one of the best Valentine's Day outings I ever had.
    Okay, that's a bad example.

    However, one of my all time favorite movies, DRACULA (1931) was also a Valentine's Day release. Nice to have Bond join in on the romantic fun.

    I'm pretty happy about this news. I've never seen TRUE DETECTIVE, but have been curious, so now is a good time to see what I've been missing.

    Fair point but given their situation, I think the only thing that we can presume is that his diary was free.

    This news took me by surprise this morning! But a good one. True Detective S1 was amazing.. That's all I've seen of his work. The only thing that worries me, is I thought he left production of IT (2017) over creative differences.. Hope this works out! Release date in February is something different too! But I'm optimistic with this news.

    I do wonder how this release date might affect getting us getting a 60th anniversary film for 2022? Been 10 years since we had a two year gap and it seems less and less likely.

    It's cautious excitement for me. Fukunaga is a superb choice, but he's got a tendency to leave productions. Hopefully it works out but I'm prepared for the worst.

    We can but live in hope,its definitely do-able if its late 2022.

    So happy about the news. Welcome to the Bond family, Cary!

    Some quick-hit speculations from me:

    -I never thought they'd go for this kind of shooting/release shift. That they would choose a (mere) three month delay vs. summer or November tells me they have many elements in a good place but really care about getting the specifics right. I didn't believe it a possibility simply because it seemed like too good of an answer to happen.

    -Very excited to the see the box office experiment of an established cinematic brand of Bond's calibre releasing in February. New brands have had tremendous success there of late.

    -Cary's work screams a perfect Bond candidate to me, given where the franchise is at. (EDIT): He directs with such depth and introspection, but doesn't sacrifice the visceral energy of the experience to do it. Exactly what 007 needs, IMO.

    -Can't wait to find out if the delay might allow Dennis Gassner to return to the project, or if EON pushes for Arnold to return out of the desire to see a reliable hand guiding the film musically. Just finished reading Burlingame's The Music of James Bond, and his history makes it clear Cubby wasn't shy about asking John Barry back into the fold directly -- at various points. Can't help but feel (hope!) the producers might be looking for a similar, familiar presence now. They both attended his Casino Royale Live event at the Royal Albert Hall last fall, so one would assume the relationship's very much still active.

    Yes. YES. This is the feeling I've been missing. :)

    This will be the first Bond film to be released in a year ending with a 0. After that all they year numbers have been covered

    Couldn't be happier with this news! Hopefully this release date works out for Bond as much as it has for Deadpool.

    Delay is litle bit disapointed, but there always make December 2019 there are finished earlier.

    A very young and more violence directer in my opnion and Beasts of No Nation (he also whas dop on that movie) trailer look like a bit Edward Zwick, Kevin Macdonald and Martin Campbell. A bit of sarcasm because it stars Idris Elba.

    Will Jenny Eagan (Beasts of No Nation) will be costume designer. Cow Boys and Aliens (With Daniel Craig), Iron Man 2, Pay Check and Catch Me If You Can. She possible also have been a choose with Bart Layton. She worked on American Animals. And she worked with the Coen Brothers.

    Nothing that's been officially announced that is. WB and Disney have the date staked out too for a DC Comics film (rumoured to be the Cathy Yan-directed Harley Quinn spinoff Birds of Prey) and an untitled live action film respectively.

    Catch Me If You Can & Iron Man 2 both had some pretty stylish suits and clothes so I'm open to her. It's a good point about the costume designer, because we know Temime is out (thank goodness as far as I'm concerned). I'm looking forward to the announcement of who gets this gig.
