Arctic Monkeys, ideal time for them to supply the theme.

    Yes, it really is!

I'm not excited Swann is back but if they kill her off early on maybe it could work.

Depends how they want Craig's Bond to go out I guess.

I have no doubt now that B25 is going to show Bond happily married. He's found the happiness and solace he was looking for. Then that gets disrupted/taken away from him and he looks for revenge.

Does Swann get killed? Or may be there are children... I am cringing slightly at the thought.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

Does Craig's Bond get a happy ending? I think that was SP and B25 is going to go dark again
Yikes... this sounds like the last Fast & Furious film, including the baby part.

As for sequels not repeating the same mistakes, Bond has truly learned this lesson well. Calm down folks, wait for the final product before judging! At least we're finally getting a new James Bond film! Isn't that what we all want?!

What does it matter if characters return or not? CF is likely to make a film as different from what Mendes did as Mendes' films were different from one another and from what was before.
Yes, this is what Im hoping for.
What do you mean hoping for? It is obvious as the bright day that Mendes brought a lot of his personal style to his films. CF is likely to do the same with his own style, but for sure he is very different from Mendes. Regardless of good or bad, it´s out of the Question that B25 is going to be a different Kind of film than SP.

I really hope that Rami Malek makes time as I think he would do a great job as the villain.
  • Isn't this what that CashleyPersia guy said earlier this year?

An MI6 agent that Bond mentors and another woman with personal ties to Bond?
Holy moly... CashleyPersia might have been right after all. This is probably the original Purvis and Wade script.

  • Maybe Swann returns in a Teri Hatcher in TND role.

Maybe Teri Hatcher could just come back as well playing Paris Carver? They could say she never died.

What does it matter if characters return or not? CF is likely to make a film as different from what Mendes did as Mendes' films were different from one another and from what was before. Even if Blofeld returned, in a different film with a different approach he would be different too. Dench's M returned for CR as a different character from the M she played in the Brosnan films. Even Tanner was three different people. What's going on in people's heads?
I think there is a difference in this case. It's the fact that these characters exist within the context of a continuity narrative. Either character based, or plot based. That frames the viewer's expectations. Such a scenario never existed in the past, where they pretty much changed course as they wanted to. Seydoux in particular is meant to be an important person in Bond's life (or at least that dirge from Smith suggested this).

So I'd say there are more risks with reintroducing characters here, especially anyone from SP.

Fukunaga may be able to pull it off, and I commend him for taking the risk. However, I'd have been happier had he started with a clean slate.

PS: I like the idea of Seydoux as trojan horse villain. She has a mischievous way about her, including her look. This was most apparent during the entire train sequence. That could redeem SP to a degree, because it would validate why she had absolutely no chemistry with Craig - it's because she was acting it.

That's what excites me most is I am not sure what he could do with an evil type role. He is a talented actor so I think he could give a great performance

Was Tanner confirmed as well as coming back? Too many different reports

Just to summarize recent reports for everyone:

Léa Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie harris are the only returning cast members confirmed at this point.

Jeffrey Wright, Rory Kinnear, and Monica Bellucci are NOT
in the picture at this stage (that we know of).

According to Variety, Rami Malek is (or was) being eyed for the villain role but scheduling will most likely prevent that from happening.

Aside from that, the same report claims that production has begun scouting two potential actresses for Bond girl parts - an MI6 agent who works with Bond, and another mystery role.

It's fascinating to read again about this female agent (protege?) and villain. Could this mean that Jolie and Lily James are back in the mix?

Being that Craig started as Rookie Bond, they could pretend B25 is set before the Events of the Brosnan era, and tell the Story of how Bond and Paris got together in the first place ;-)

Cashley basically admitted to being a troll, so it's safe to say the Lily James, Angelina Jolie rumours are complete BS (same goes for the protege stuff).

This MI6 agent role seems to be more of a colleague than a protege based on Variety's description.

It's also worth noting that all the Cashley rumours pre-dated Boyle's exit and change of script.

Yes!!!! Bond could start out by dating Paris' roommate and get involved with her himself. She then meets a media mogul.

This is true, but he seems to have been reasonably close to where they are reportedly headed so I'd imagine there was some truth to something at least.

Another thing: Rami Malek is of Egyptian descent. Saiid Taghmaoui is also of Middle Eastern/African (in this case Moroccan) descent. Do folks remember when he claimed to have been approached by Boyle?

I can't conceive of why Cary would choose to put Madeline Swann in his movie. This makes me think he is on a tight leash, and EON have insisted on certain aspects of Purvis and Wade script are included in the final film. Think back, way before even Boyle was on the scene. All the reports claimed that the story was an adaptation of YOLT. If that's the script they returned back to, then I think Madeline HAS to be there.

Maybe Cary is doing a shot for shot remake of SPECTRE in which he gets rid of the brother gate angle in the torture scene, and wipes that film from Bondian history ?

I wouldn't give the Cashley similarities too much thought; the idea of a female agent working with Bond is pretty vague and that approach was also teased with Boyle's draft (though at that point the agent appeared to be of Russian descent).

Regarding a potential Middle Eastern villain, there are definite similarities worth noting here. I recall reading a source back when Boyle left that they couldn't decide whether to go Russian or Middle Eastern for the villain.

Perhaps this villain was the Golden Idea we were told about not the plot but the character of the villain.

I wonder if the gun-barrel is going to have THE DEAD ARE ALIVE caption again?

Maybe Craig could wear his skeleton costume in the PTS again?

I just want to say that this week's deluge of news was such an unexpected, pleasant surprise.

The taste of last August is finally no more. This is it, folks. We're ramping up and it's only going to get more interesting from here. This film's on track, and after a wait that was certainly a little too long for comfort, we're about to begin that wonderful process of a new Bond film being brought to the screen.

    Looking forward to it.

Variety has just confirmed this is not SP 2 or YOLT. If there's a female MI6 Agent, assume that is the lead (pray not a young protege), the mystery character is the temptress, Rami Malek (hopefully) a new villain; Swann likely small role: dying, leaving, going back to in the end or trojan horse villain leading him into trap. The MI6 Team return doesn't make it SP 2, it makes it a JB movie, you know, M, Moneypenny, Q (regardless if you like the actors or their screen time).

True. I also don't believe they would bring back Seydoux if they didn't find something at least remotely interesting with her character. I predict she won't have any more screen time than Lucia.
