Yes, it really is!
I really wonder what type of villain he could play.
Maybe Teri Hatcher could just come back as well playing Paris Carver? They could say she never died.
So I'd say there are more risks with reintroducing characters here, especially anyone from SP.
Fukunaga may be able to pull it off, and I commend him for taking the risk. However, I'd have been happier had he started with a clean slate.
PS: I like the idea of Seydoux as trojan horse villain. She has a mischievous way about her, including her look. This was most apparent during the entire train sequence. That could redeem SP to a degree, because it would validate why she had absolutely no chemistry with Craig - it's because she was acting it.
That's what excites me most is I am not sure what he could do with an evil type role. He is a talented actor so I think he could give a great performance
Just to summarize recent reports for everyone:
Léa Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie harris are the only returning cast members confirmed at this point.
Jeffrey Wright, Rory Kinnear, and Monica Bellucci are NOT in the picture at this stage (that we know of).
According to Variety, Rami Malek is (or was) being eyed for the villain role but scheduling will most likely prevent that from happening.
Aside from that, the same report claims that production has begun scouting two potential actresses for Bond girl parts - an MI6 agent who works with Bond, and another mystery role.
This MI6 agent role seems to be more of a colleague than a protege based on Variety's description.
It's also worth noting that all the Cashley rumours pre-dated Boyle's exit and change of script.
Yes!!!! Bond could start out by dating Paris' roommate and get involved with her himself. She then meets a media mogul.
Another thing: Rami Malek is of Egyptian descent. Saiid Taghmaoui is also of Middle Eastern/African (in this case Moroccan) descent. Do folks remember when he claimed to have been approached by Boyle?
Regarding a potential Middle Eastern villain, there are definite similarities worth noting here. I recall reading a source back when Boyle left that they couldn't decide whether to go Russian or Middle Eastern for the villain.
Perhaps this villain was the Golden Idea we were told about not the plot but the character of the villain.
Maybe Craig could wear his skeleton costume in the PTS again?
The taste of last August is finally no more. This is it, folks. We're ramping up and it's only going to get more interesting from here. This film's on track, and after a wait that was certainly a little too long for comfort, we're about to begin that wonderful process of a new Bond film being brought to the screen.
Looking forward to it.
