TBH, it would not be difficult to do better than the last couple, as Bardem and Waltz were both damp squibs.
That's some impressive cars mentioned right there! Wouldn't mind seeing Bond drive a vintage Jaguar E-type in a future film. It certainly beats the look of any modern car (as does the DB5 for that matter):
Is it possible to be a fan of cars, the 50s and 60s too, and still not want the DB5 back in the near term? ;) If so, I certainly fall into that category. I like the car, but don't think it's all that in comparison to some of the other cars from that era, including the E-type. As far as Astons go, I prefer the DBS from OHMSS. I'm also a big fan of the 'folded paper' aesthetic design from Giugiaro, of which the Esprit is one of the more famous iterations.
If they must bring it back I can live with it, but I'd rather we not get any more overt fan service for it. They shot it all with SF and CR imho, and so now it just seems a bit overdone to me. That's not a knock on the car in this instance, but more the way the car is used on film. The way it was utilized in TND would be fine for me (discreet) going forward.
That's Connery in there, in the movie Woman of Straw. Love that film. I know this is the wrong thread, still...
Yes, we've discussed it before ;)
See – it would be perfect for Bond!
Never seen Woman of Straw actually. Must get around to doing so soon.
That sounds promising! :-D
Me too.
We've strayed a lot from the thread theme. I feel that it was my fault so this is me asking for a recoup to form ;)
So, about the 25th...
That was the gif I was looking for ;) Thank you!
1. Shatterhand sigh nooooo
2. I like Rami Malek and feel he would be a fine villain
3. The first person who gets to 1999 should add a world is not enough quote
Not very Book-Bond, but Connery did wear one in GF, Craig in CR, Pierce in GE, Dalton in TLD,...
I'd welcome it back. I wear three piece suits myself almost everyday.
Although it abused its sprezzatura :)
I'm almost always positive about Bond and I agree with you. I also want Christoph Waltz as Blofeld and Jeffery Wright back as Felix and I'll be more excited.
In fact, I am asking the moderators now: if EON officially announces that the title of Bond 25 is Shatterhand, please delete my account automatically.
Book Bond typically wore light two-piece suits; he would have probably regarded three-piece suits as a bit stuffy or over-formal. Movie Bond should follow suit when a younger actor takes over.
Woman of Straw is indeed worth seeing, and Connery gives a fine performance as a handsome dirtbag of a villain. But his greatest performances are likely in The Offence and Robin and Marian.
I now am hoping Bond 25 for Shatterhand
Shatterhand
You'd hate to see him go
Nah, but seriously, I think the title works. It sounds dynamic and bombastic. There was a time when these were characteristics of a James Bond movie.
Well, but book bond had his old Bentley, and that reminded him of other times. The 30s actually. That was a 23 year old car by the time CR came out. And by the rate cars were modernising in those decades, that's almost as having a car from 1964 in a 2020 film. So, I'm all for the DB5 being always present. Same thing with the ppk.
Still hoping for The Death Collector, or The Garden of Death, or something creative, though.
