What makes you say that? Was EON not pleased with his performance?
It was a mutual disappointment with how the character turned out, I think.
This is why I believe Shatterhand won't be the final title. You can't do it without Waltz. And the Malek rumours definitely don't support that.
And if the story of YOLT was changed so that Blofeld wasn't Shatterhand, I don't think fans would be very happy.
I just know he was not a very respectful guest in the EoN house.
I suppose if the story really begged for him to return, he will be back-- but I seriously doubt it (unless in flashbacks, but even then, I seriously doubt it)
That surprises me. He spoke so highly of EON and Barbara and Micheal. He is a very convincing liar or oblivious to his offence.
I heard he was a shit on the set, so my belief is: if he's back, he plays a very minor role (unless EoN is fooling everyone), or; Blofeld will not be in B25 at all.
Not knowing anything about the upcoming story, I still would bet on the latter.
That's disappointing for an actor of his prestige and caliber. Oh well onwards and upwards. Perhaps with Malek they will get ahead of the game with a great actor playing a villian. Lately they have cast individuals already known for playing villainous characters
Also did anyone else note Baz's presence yesterday. Might this Thursday come with a scoop from Daniel, Wishaw or Malek? Just a thought
In Waltz' defence, the Spectre set was not the best set to be on at times. There was intense pressure on the production after the Sony leaks and when you throw a blindingly subpar script into the mix it only makes things worse. The point still stands that he is a professional and should act as such, but he's also only human. I don't have a lot against him after Spectre. He could have turned in another Oscar-worthy performance and it wouldn't change the film one damn bit.
As @peter said, if he is to make any sort of appearance, the odds are that it'd be fleeting.
I'm falling down the middle with Malek at the moment. I wouldn't be over the moon with him being cast but I'd have enough trust and patience to see what happens if he were to jump on.
Aha I see what you did there! I'm hoping that Waltz at least gets a surprise appearance, as Blofeld is still alive.
It's sad to hear, but it may explain why he also isn't in Quentin Tarantino's last two movies. Maybe their egos clashed.
Skip the first 15 seconds.
Perhaps not Bond, but a...Rogue Agent?
Whatever he said, can't be as bad as "I'd rather slash my wrists than do this again". EON seem pretty forgiving.

Not this again!!
Didn't you get the memo?
Production Weekly. Repeatedly.
The only sure things in life are death, taxes and unhappy Bond fans
So there are really dozens of canned producers out there. Figured ;)
Brilliant, that.
Only when the output from EON is subpar, as it has been of late.
