Was it confirmed Mark Tildesley left production design?
If after five years they don't put something out that's near close to universal acclaim then no I can't take one more film. I'd rather they would have used that time to start fresh and make plans for multiple films. I don't think what worked in 2006 will work in 2020. I hope I'm wrong but we shall see
Sadly, I’m beginning to come down with this same bperspective.
Nothing pessimistic or Eon-bashing. It just seems that the momentum is slowing down massively.
Of course, we are talking about industry deals that ‘leak’ when studios permit them to. But Bond is such a large international enterprise and the total lack of news (or even gossip) suggests things have been halted.
It makes sense. Fukunaga joined the film 5 months ago. He’s writing the film and in pre-production. It’s a lot to do. I could understand the logic to push the film to later in 2020.
Perhaps even November 2020?
I still believe filming will begin in 46 days. For now there's no real reason to worry about. After the Sony leaks they're probably crazy about leaks etc etc. Having said that, I would accept a delay if they need some more time. No problem with that, since the goal is delivering a better picture.
DC Bond in 2020 comes from '06, but he has evolved. He is different. And this is the conclusion to that arc.
In the end, there's a lot of bitterness from a few about a film that hasn't come out. I personally have sincerely enjoyed and I have been taken on a wild ride for three out of four films.
The last one was a misfire.
The professionals over there at EoN aren't idiots. No matter what you think. They just aren't (and that's why we're on this side of the line, pissing and moaning about things out of our control).
CF is not an idiot (but is quite an impressive talent).
No matter what some may think, DC is not a thug and is quite an intuitive and intelligent man.
The people at Universal aren't fools.
The combined elements know what's at stake here. And every single one want a success for a variety of reasons. And they know how to create success. They've done it more times than not.
Winners only win after they learn how to win (which usually comes after a loss or losses). EoN knows this better than anyone. And that's why James Bond is still with us, and will continue to be with us for a very long time.
Respectfully, I think that is a major reach.
Just in the last month, we've had major casting news, several top-line crewmembers confirmed (DoP, 2nd unit), and it least one significant location rumor outside the UK (Norway). And that's only what we, the public, can see.
There's been zero indication that momentum on the production is slowing down. The most logical reason for the apparent quiet is that everyone's gone head down, trying to get major work done, and EoN and their studio partners are (understandably) playing all their cards much closer and more carefully to their respective chests on this one. Likely due to the combination of the Boyle situation leaving a bad taste, and the snafu on SPECTRE prior to filming.
Personally, I love that we know next to nothing. If I had my way (and could stop myself from checking), we'd continue that trend until February 13, 2020.
Nicely stated, @AgentM72 ... There are some people on here who are very impatient (I myself suffered the wrath of one of these posters when I failed to know anything about what was upcoming, and was then called a liar and an imposter).
Not only do we have what you've already mentioned, but we are aware that the stunt people are arriving in London.
I also would guess that this film (as I told a friendly poster today on PM), may be one where we have virtual globe-trotting where a crew goes out and shoots exteriors, while scenes will be shot in-house at Pinewood Studios. This keep things even further under wraps (and a budget in control).
That's a very nice view on things.
No such thing as universal acclaim, over bearing praise and hype sure, but not universal acclaim.
Indeed. And if I'm not mistaken, Skyfall is a great example of a Bond film that does a lot more of that than one might think just from a first viewing. Using the UK as such a prominent location in-film obviously helped that, but...there were entire major sequences completed without Daniel Craig setting foot outside Pinewood. MI6 re-training sequences and briefing. Shanghai office building. Macau hotel and floating casino. Silva's island. MI6 interiors in the third act. Etc.
EDIT: Another example rightly springs to mind, Die Another Day. An admittedly epic film in scale, regardless of your opinion of it. And an absolutely massive proportion of it was filmed in or very near Pinewood.
Nice to see some sanity rather from you both rather than this hysterical bollocks that keeps flying out of certain mouths.
I'm getting the idea that there certain people here that present a dignified front and supposedly are offering some balance, whereas if you read between the lines they are the biggest excrement stirrers around.
Just because some here lap up your thousands of post because you have next to no life outside the forum doesn't mean that others don't see you for exactly what you are.
Rubbish.
Agreed with you here, @peter (if that's even your real name) and @AgentM72.
I'm as confident in the progress as I was a month ago, two months ago, going back to when Fukanaga was announced.
For any nitpicking faults I may have with how EON has handled certain things, they're not as clueless as some would have you believe. And that extends to the rescheduled date. We've already had one unique mix-up with the great Danny Boyle, so if there were any potential for hiccups, there's no way they'd have committed to the rescheduled date so firmly.
Bond 25 will likely be a unique beast, but that shouldn't be a cause for worry. It should be a cause for excitement. Anything negative is just conjecture, based off of very little evidence or substance. It's understandable, I suppose; the Boyle stuff made us all anxious. However, there's a limit to that understanding.
I think you'll probably get that, so I wouldn't worry.
Perhaps. Of course anything is possible.
But a big clue that everything is moving forward as planned, is Craig working out and getting into his 'Bond' body again.
After the leaks fiasco that surrounded SP, I would imagine EON and the studio are playing their cards close to their chests.
If we really want another delay however, don't worry. I'm feeling completely confident Eon will keep this current tradition alive and delay B26 for us.
Insightful words of wisdom keeps falling on deaf ears. Mass paranoia ensues!
Some forum members:
Priceless
lol, I keep reading that as Connery. Well done.
She never suggested that there was a change of heart at any point following Boyle’s departure.
I agree, It would be a total disaster.
