Fingers crossed maybe it’ll be an unveiling of the Aston Martin they plan to use in Bond 25.

Hopefully, I'd think they'd be another reason for Barbara and Michael to be there, but I guess they could just be there to celebrate the history of their franchise. Although again, there have been plenty of events before this that they haven't been to.

Baz comes through with a big Thursday night scoop -- Babs and CJF are wooing Lupita Nyong'o for Bond 25!

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6731973/BAZ-BAMIGBOYE-Queen-Olivia-Coleman-hopes-reign-Oscars.html

Inspired choice if they can land it. And based on the fact that Baz is reporting it...well, that would suggest to me they've landed it.

I mean frankly, I’m surprised he’s that far if it’s true. Lupita would be an inspired choice. Stone being uninvolved is not a surprise.

“Maybe” ;) I know it doesn’t excite me either.

I'm hoping if she is cast she'll be given a femme-fatale/villain role, as it would distance itself from her role in Black Panther, which already had her in a few Bondian-inspired sequences.

Maybe he hasn't had to change as much as previously suggested. It could be a Paul Haggis situation, where he does more for the characters and dialogue, rather than having to change any plot details.

To be honest, that suggestion is probably going off her role in the previous two films.

A wonderful actress, and absolutely stunning. I just hope she is cast :)

Lupita would be a great choice. And as @Denbigh suggested, a femme-fatale type role would be cool.

I really hope so. I remember when she was first announced to be cast in Star Wars, I was really hoping she was going to be cast as a villain.

We have no idea if he really started around the time Rodrigo Perez wrote about his involvement or well before. He's supposed to work on the script for four weeks. It doesn't mean writing for four weeks totally isolated from everybody else, delivering a draft on the last day and leaving. He has to give them the draft, so they can read it, and then he needs a few days to make new revisions where needed.

She's almost the only female figure in his life outside of his girlfriends. If, as some predict, Madeleine goes kaput early on, Moneypenny is the only existing character he's intimate enough to share his pain with. Q would feed him with stories about his cat, and M about the time he tried Minoxidil. And Tanner, well, he's Tanner. Felix Leiter may be a friend, but are they really in touch? Weeks or months later, Bond is back into service, goes on a mission, meets a strange woman, and...

I do find it a little interesting Tanner wasn’t confirmed to return while all the other MI6 regulars were. My feelings would not be hurt if he doesn’t come back.

I will simply never understand how the franchise could be so lucky as to secure actors of the caliber of Harris, Fiennes, Kinnear and Whishaw for supporting roles, and yet people feel they should be used less.

I'm fine with it being a difference in opinion. And I'm certainly not judging those who do feel that way.

I just genuinely don't get it.

It's nothing against the actors. I think it's just that people like myself wanna see more time given to James Bond's mission. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them to use them to their full extent, but it's when a whole subplot is given to their characters that people get frustrated, because so much more time could be given to the Bond girl or the villain.

A lot of the problems with Madeleine Swann could've been solved if they'd just focused their time and attention on her, rather than on a subplot we didn't really need. I understand the whole Nine-Eyes thing, but there were other ways they could've introduced without giving a quarter of the film to the MI6 crew.

Bond is supposed to be a loner, who's almost never teamed with anybody else in MI6, apart from some liaison agent, preferably female, he will be involved with when he reaches some foreign place. The PTS in Skyfall is interesting as it hints instead at a group effort at Istanbul. Bond is indeed concerned with the fate of Ronson who's dying, Eve arrives to chase the killer, that's an operation that involves an actual team.
But some people are concerned that spending time with supporting characters does lessen Bond.

That's my mild complaint for Licence to Kill--OO7 as too much of a team in the pre-title sequence, he's diminished.

I definitely don't get that from the Skyfall pre-title sequence, since he's really out there as the tip of the spear and engaged. And every Bond is regularly assisted/outright saved by his associates.

She's probably the younger mi6 protege if that's still in the script.

Some good points @HildebrandRarity, and in Skyfall, it was necessary. The urgency of the situation would require more than just 007. MI6 needed to get that list, and needed the capabilities of more than one agent.

Plus it was necessary for the introduction of Eve and the plot, whereas in Spectre, it wasn't necessary and it dragged the plot down. Again, I know Nine-Eyes was part of the plot, but that felt like it was done more for the benefit of having more of the MI6 regulars, than for the benefit of the story and the film.

In Spectre, MI6 itself was under attack from C from without and within. That's a thematic reason to involve the HQ staff directly, to show him shutting down their activity on the way to their near extinction. They find a way to fight back while Bond deals with the larger, outside threat and it comes together at story's end.

I'm fine with these characters being given their due if they're written well. It's just that with the exception of Wishaw, they haven't been so far.

Kinnear is a pretty good actor but his version of Tanner is a damp squib.

Well I hope Bond 25 doesn't give us another "MI6 is under attack" storyline.

Yeah, I expect that's cleared up. And time to get away from London and the UK, definitely.

It should be the non-intelligence bureaucrats attacking MI6 again.
