Lots and lots of great places for that in the Norwegian mountains.

The problem with C is that it was telegraphed from the off. If you want a ‘mole’, that’s completely fine, if a little cliched, but don’t cast Moriarty.

Despite being a consistent defender of SPECTRE, I'd have to agree with that one.

Well, Fukunaga likes weird, but that is a good thing in my book. A pint of the exotic and strange against the backdrop of normality is what Bond is all about, IMO. Sometimes, it borderlines the oniric, but never to a point where it's OTT. Scaramanga's golden gun and private island, the komodo dragons in Macau, villains with deformities or unusual habits,... all too many to enumerate, of course, but you get the gist. I'm all for weird ;)

You have as much chance of being correct as anyone making predictions at this point given how little we truly know. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing though. I'll take weird over boring or predictable any day.

Spectre wrapped up Craig's tenure right down to the title sequence homage. I just think this film is gonna feel tacked on if it's not done perfect which in effect may come off as weird

I'm hoping that when they have the press conference, we'll also find out whose going to be behind the music and the costumes. I imagine they won't announce it, but we may get some extra information in the articles that will be going around.

Might be a little too early to find out about the composer. I would expect us to learn who the costume designer is, though...and confirm the production designer.

Maybe M, Q, and Moneypenny can ski down to rescue James in that cabin? Tanner of course will be snowboarding.

The MI6 own holiday huts in the area, and they have all brought their entire families there. They are all in on the action, even little Bill Tanner Jr.

So, potentially we're looking at a spinoff centered on Billy "B.J." Tanner Jr?

    Great news about Norway.

I still hope Malik is just a rumour. He looks too youthful and can't picture him as being menacing against Craig. If he is cast as the villain I'll be open to the idea of course, but I can't say I like it now.

Now about the Shatterhand title, and I know it is probably just a rumour gone wild. But I have an hypothesis : could it be a working title "promoted" to official title?

But let's be honest. How many Bond villains truly are menacing, especially in a physical sense? Few of them could actually stand toe-to-toe with Bond.

Dr. No? Menacing only because of his metal hands. I'll say no.
Red Grant? YES. But is he a villain or a henchman? Rosa Kleib? Only because of a poisonous shoe.
Goldfinger? The man is overweight and has a serious case of the yips on the golf course.
Largo? Another overweight villain. He only looks like a badass because of his eye patch.
Blofeld (Pleasence)? No. He's ugly. That's it.
    Blofeld (Savalas)? YES.
    Blofeld (Gray)? Absolutely not.
Mr. Big. YES. I'l buy this.
    Scaramanga? YES.
    Stromberg? Seriously? No.
    Drax? No.
Kristatos? Maybe. But I'll lean no.
    Kamal Khan? Puhleeeze.
    Zorin? Absolutely.
    Koskov? Not really, no.
    Sanchez? I'll lean YES.
    Trevelyan? Absolutely. YES.
    Carver? Nope.
    Renard? YES.
Graves? Toss up. I'll go with YES because of the fencing duel.
LeChiffre? No. The guy is a wimp, true colors seen when his mistress is threatened.
    Greene? No.
Silva: YES. He's a former agent.
    Blofeld (Waltz): No.

Point is, most of these men are threatening because of the muscle behind them. Goldfinger and Odd Job, for example. I can absolutely see Malik as one of these deviant brilliant villains, propped up by wealth and a henchman.

I was not talking of physical menace. Not exclusively in any case. Pretty much all the classical villains are menacing. It has nothing to do with how much of a physical match they are for Bond. Many are just creepy as Hell and that is enough. Le Chiffre, Kronsteen, Rosa Klebb, Blofeld in all his incarnations save DAF (and even then), Goldfinger, Drax, Kamal Khan, are ALL menacing. Either it's their appearance, either their aura of power, either their perversity, they have something dangerous about them.

Stromberg and Largo particularly had this crazy look about them. Something in their eyes.

    karl-stromberg.jpg

That said, I believe @Ludovico and @TripAces are both actually talking about the same thing. Menace can be expressed by madness, physicality, intelligence,... We've had variations of that in all the past 24 films, in some way or another.

Watching M:I Fallout again and really the action sequences in it are superb and just keep on getting better and better - the Halo jump, the extended Paris motorbike chase, the London footchase and the helicopter sequence and final fight are all superb.

In terms of action, I hope Bond 25 goes big like these sequences and gives the stunt, vfx and second unit teams a good workout.

I know Bond is somewhat about action for many fans, and this is an old debate, but for me it's all about the suaveness and the thrills, being it sexual or about the dangers of espionage. For me it has always been about style, even the action must have something to do with style over form. Bond taking a tank through a Perrier truck or diving a lotus into the sea,..., confronting a femme fatale at a sauna and being crushed by her thighs, ... Or even spending some leisure time at a casino, for his own pleasure. Winning the villain's car, the villain's girl. Whatever it may be, it must be done with style. Something the other so called action heroes don't have. Ethan Hunt surely doesn't, but I'm the last person who wants to talk about the M:i films here. Bond is Bond. I remember thinking that the plane through the house in Austria would be made this way, as an action scene done in Bond fashion. Well, at least the parachute scene in Rome was a bit fun. A bit, but not too much, being it followed the much talked subpar chase.

That looks a better fit to me. The other rumoured Norwegian location was nice, but fairly generic (it could've been Canada, the northern USA, other parts of Scandinavia, etc.). For me, if they're going to use Norway at all - and I very much hope they do - they should really go for dramatic landscapes.

Norway is far less generic than any part of the USA and Canada, surely.

Then there’s a great deal of the USA and Canada that you’ve never seen.

Yes but that's not the point: the USA has often been done, obviously in many movies. And Canada was often used to pass as the US in movies and TV series. In any case, Norway is much more exotic and lesser seen in movies. Hence my comment.

I don't want to see Yank Land in Bond, but there is no question Hollywood has only showcased at best 10% of USA.

Maybe because it is familiar to Americans and they want to see something else on the big screen? Just a theory.

You're probably right. I'm an European, and a europeist at that, and although I've traveled the world, the last place I want to see in a Bond flick is north America. Even if that means they'll keep coming back to Italy over and over again ;)

While I was pleasantly surprised by enjoyment of MI: Fallout, I actually thought it was visually quite bland at points. Looked more like an entry in the F&F franchise. I think Sandgren will do something incredibly marvellous with Bond 25.

Yes, can't wait to see the first picture of Sandgren work. I'm dying for some killer cinematography. By Bond25 eight years will have past since a Bond film wooed me with its visuals, frames, colours,... I hope Sandgren gives us something truly special.

So far, the dream team for me is Fukunaga/Sandgren/Burns. Now, for a good composer. Also who's the art director/production designer, do we know for sure?

Possible new dates for the Italy shoot are the 18th of August to the 23rd of September. Originally reported by Italian press as beginning in April it seems it has moved to August. Could signify that Pinewood and Norway are first.
