Far better. Actually, if done correctly, this might actually work. I may have freaked a bit after first learning of this. The stuff about bond/ kid/ family would be an unmitigated nightmare though.
It even offers them an opportunity to "fix" both Swann and Blofeld at the same time, if a younger Blofeld is involved in this operation. Because I don't think that Léa Seydoux will have a large part in this film (how boring would it be to have her dating him for five years and having a "normal" relationship?). Blofeld would need to be shown as a ruthless, brilliant mastermind, rather than the creator of "Operation Kid Brother", and he would appear as a real threat.
Plus it’s probably going to look amazing with Sandgren as our cinematographer.

So if malek is the villain I wonder how he fits into this
  • I don't like this recent development at all. It's really hard to get excited about a Bond girl you didn't care for getting increased importance in this next movie. I may end up liking it in the film itself, but the idea is not one I'm fond of.

In the flashback, it was Malek's father who came to kill Mr. White. Instead, Maddy found her father's gun, and blew away Malek's old man. We FF 30 years and Malek comes back to be the author of all Maddy's pain; in short: he kills Bond.

Then Maddy hunts down Malek in a modern adaptation of YOLT and strangles Malek in a castle in Norway (back where it started)...

    Awesome stuff, @marketto007.
  • What if -- and this is a big what if -- this just spoiled the ending of the movie and:
It is a The Dark Knight Rises type of ending with Bond retired living with Maddy and their daughter at some exotic country?
I think in that case Craig's era will indeed be self contained, and it kinda has to be in a way since they acknowledge Bond's aging in SF.

One thing that was never clearly communicated or properly explored was Quantum in relation to Spectre, therefore there could be a good plot point around an internal power struggle - given Blofeld’s status.

Seems a bit naff to consolidate both organisations together.

Could Malek or the main villain have been a senior operative? A ballsy move might be to do a FYEO and ice Blofeld in the PTS at the hands of someone who is a subordinate. Can’t imagine Waltz agreeing to the mind.

    Seems the options are
    1. Kill Blofeld
    2. Ignore him and move the story on with no mention.
    3. Ignore him but play some general lip service to the character.
    4. Have him bust out of MI6 clutches like Silver in Skyfall.

What over angles for Blofeld are there?

While I recognise your disappointment, I don't think it is a bad idea to give Madeleine a bit more character than what she had in Spectre. It may end up giving Léa Seydoux a bit more material to work with, which could make you look back at Spectre a bit more positively. I certainly think it's a better idea than killing her off in the pts.

I’m still hoping they are going to cancel B25. It’ll be a bit hard if they start filming in Norway though. ;)

Not sure at the moment @Blofeld0064. Not that I'm very knowledgable on these things, but I assume we probably won't know until he actually appears.

Wow, just saw this on Archivo007. Apparently a French Casting Agency confirms what we were speculating yesterday.

    Make Madeleine Interesting Again!

Now, it looks like they deleted the tweet and the casting call. Hmmm.

I think so. They appeared on the site of a Norwegian newspaper founded in 1902. Also, this is where the tip about the scene comes from and the shooting dates are 25-31 March. Makes sense to me.

Not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, it'll probably make Madeleine a more interesting character and make up a bit for SP's many shortcomings. On the other, I don't even wanna see her in the damn film to begin with.

Of course, they had to delete the tweet. Whatever the film this casting call was for, it took place in January. If they don't delete it, people may see the tweet and try to apply for their daughter regardless it's too late.

Ah, my bad! Forgot to check the date. Makes sense.

Does True North = Blue Harvest?

Is/was it a production title for Bond 25?

There is a subtle flashback in OHMSS. Bond stares out the window in M's office and a flashback image of Tracey being pulled unconscious from the avalanche is reflected in the glass.

And in MR, Bond, trapped in the centrifuge, recalls short and sharp images of Q demonstrating the wrist dart.

But this Bond 25 rumour might be the first time we get a full on dramatic flashback.
If not already mentioned, consider the Casino Royale pre-title sequence, flashing back (and forth) to the first kill (and second).

Also in Die Another Day Bond flashes back to his North Korean torture with scorpions as he stops his own heartbeat and escapes from the hospital ship in the kerfuffle when they resuscitate him.

And separately--gosh and respectfully. Mathis wasn't a code name.

Anyone know what "True North" is?
Romerikes Blad writes that they have gained insight into the application Truenorth Norway has sent to the Labor Inspection Authority on behalf of the film production - B25 Limited. There, it is confirmed, according to the newspaper, that parts of the 25 film about Bond will be recorded on Romerike, within the market boundary in Nittedal from 25–31. March this year.
From an above linked article; I don't know much about this kind of thing but it looks like a production/casting company based in Norway. I have no idea what should and shouldn't appear in spoiler tags at the moment.

No need to spoiler tag your comment. Truenorth is a production company in Norway that I believe is managing the affairs for the Norwegian shoot.

As for what needs to be in spoiler tags - plot/scene spoilers (like the ones discussed in the last few pages, character deaths, and plausible theories based on leaked subject matter (also in the last few pages).

I forgot about that. I wouldn't be surprised if they comment on B25.

What kind of event is this exactly?

That, I’m not sure about. It is just my understanding they will be in attendance. Personally, I was hoping it’s to unveil the next Aston Martin Bond will drive in B25.
