Waltz can be left behind, SPECTRE should be brought back so audiences can really be sold on them as a threat. It's very possible, and I trust Fukunaga to do so, but if they want to make this a stand-alone (apart from Madeleine) I'm happy with either.

Regarding 2022, yes the filmmakers have reacted to events (or allowed delays for their own purposes) the past 12 or so years. On the other hand their original plan was for the follow-up to Casino Royale to premiere May 2008. An 18-month turnaround.

The process hasn't so drastically changed since then, whatever the gaps of 3 or 4 or 4 plus years between films. If they want it and conditions are right, they can make it happen.

There are no sureties, just possibilities this far out.

Lernaean Hydra's head, or in this case, SPECTRE's head has been cut off. One that thinks for many took his place, one that is way creepier, one that makes Blofeld seem like an embarrassment, and he is dealt accordingly and killed of screen while in custody. SPECTRE lives, and their number 2 (Malek), who is an OCD blind genius with a penchant for camomile tea, is assigned to cut all past embarrassments. As Oberhauser, Bond is such an embarrassment, and must be killed with no more delays.

lol, or something else entirely different :)

Hey guys, with the current trend of back to back films. Avengers/ Harry Potter/ mission impossible. And knowing how reactionary bond films are, when are we likely to see that. B26/27?

Never. Different types of production and philosophy. As fas as I know, they've considered it once and didn't do it. Probably never will.

Bond 25 will start filming at the very latest March 25th though I am guessing it may be earlier

And while I haven’t heard anything about waltz returning or not I wouldn’t be surprised if he did

The thing that we should remember is that the whole team is trying to make Bond 25 as good as it can (even if they won't necessarily succeed), which means that it will have the rather tight continuity that has been followed so far between all the Craig films, in spite of SPECTRE being shoehorned in 2015 after they bought the rights back. If there are loose ends for Spectre, it's very likely that they will be addressed in some way.

The great thing for Bond 26, the new actor and the new continuity is that the scripts will be allowed to make liberal use of SPECTRE or Blofeld right from the start... or be allowed to let them rest for a while, if the story doesn't need them. They will then be part of the franchise DNA.

It just occurred to me that if they are in part remaking YOLT more book accurate, of coarse they are going to have a child actor involved. Because bond has a kid in that one. There was a rumor when Boyle first came on board that the purvis and Wade Script was half OHMSS and half YOLT. And now thinking of it since there is all this talk of child actors, it does make sense why that would be the case. I mean assuming it’s just not a flashback or something.

Exactly, just way creepier. Even more so. Love Lynch, btw.

Has no one posted this? Malek is the villain for Bond 25. http://collider.com/rami-malek-bond-25-villain/

Has anyone else noticed the woeful reporting in @MI6 article on the Rami Malek and Billy Magnussen news?

    https://www.mi6-hq.com/news/casting-continues-for-bond-25-newly-oscar-crowned-rami-malek-back-in-contention-190228

    Yikes.

The amount of spelling and grammatical errors is terrible. Many of the sentences don't scan at all well. Additionally, there are numerous erroneous claims.

This isn't even GCSE English standard.

    I love camomile teeeeeea!

To be serious, I do like it when the villains have a obsession for something, like Goldfinger and his gold, or Stromberg and the ocean. Can't see camomile tea being a central element to the plot though!

Malek is confirmed? Ok then, just be as good as Benecio in LTK, and I'm satisfied.
I'd say confirmation is all but assured at this point. Collider is pretty solid when it comes to this, and Rotten Tomatoes has also added it to their news round-up. Malek is in. (=

Yes, I believe we've got our villain.

Given that Madeleine is back, it's natural that there will be other connections with the previous film. I expect the villain played by Rami Malek to be connected with SPECTRE. If they do it properly and suggest how powerful and dangerous the whole organization is, they can even bring Blofeld back for the climax, as he won't be regarded as the prick with a USB drive on his ring from the previous episode but the head for a formidable secret society.
    Agreed.

I think if they bring Waltz back, it will be in a Silence of the Lambs-type scene. I imagine it'll be akin to Alice Morgan in Luther. It'll likely be nothing more than a cameo.

Waltz had his chance. I want them to give as much possible screentime for Malek to shine.

Also, according to Lipstick Alley, Fukunaga and Kirstine Froseth flew by private jet to Norway.

There is speculation that filming may be taking place sooner rather than later there...

Kind of suggests those that said filming like @peter were right but why let that get in the way of your smug satisfaction of your so called scoop hey?

Oh I see, Malek not yet officially confirmed still. But quite likely.
And of course filming can happen in two different countries at the same time.

I would say Malek is a shoe-in (99.99%), but given the way preproduction for this film has been...

I'm actually surprised by this news regarding Fukunaga, with all the filming rumours going around, it seemed like second unit would take control of this Norway sequence, but I guess not :)

A flight from London to Norway (Oslo) only takes a couple of hours I think.

As I mentioned to some before (and maybe on this thread), early last Wednesday I got news that Malek agreed to B25 pre-Oscar ceremony.

If true, I just speculated to another poster: is this another case of Daniel Craig getting pieces of talent on board his 007 projects-- like Mendes and Bardem?

Since Craig and Malek have been at some of the same awards shows, especially the Oscars, I'm waiting to hear how a slightly "tight" DC approached Malek about the lead villain role in 25.

If so, Craig does genuinely earn his co-producing credit!

(the chances of Malek being the villain are very high, and, barring something quite catastrophic (a la Pierce Brosnan circa '86), I guess we should have this expectation too).
