Why are we not discussing the fact that filming begins in just 4 days??

    Good question.

If I remember correctly Craig won’t be part of this brief Norway shooting.

QOS really was the best, wasn't it? :)

Hated it when it premiered because of the editing (95 cuts in the first two minutes fx). If I look past the editing today, it's probably my favorite of the Craig era: Bond really kicks ass in this one, there are some great location and stunt work, the score is probably the best since TND and so forth.

And...it has its own thread at Mi6 ;)

You're quite right, btw, if we look past the editing, it really is a brilliant Bond film.

Will they, though? Filming can be very secretive if they want it to be ;)

Well, they cannot be filming on monday. We not even had an announcement of a countdown for reveal.

Thing is, they can, and a reveal may not even happen.

Hey, managing expectations here, that's all. It's like in the theatre business, in the end it all works out just fine. Until then, anything can happen.

Mind you, I really want a bloody press conference. But hey, if they don't do it, I get it, I get the reasoning behind it. Not the end of the world.

As far as I understood it there was still one or two major parts to cast. And until that happens they won't hold a press conference.

They’ve done it before. Like for the Palio scenes of QoS. Back then they also officially started filming at Pinewood without even a proper title announcement if I’m not mistaken.

We will get a press conference around the official start date...

Spectre is best and Tomorrow Never Dies is a nonsensical garbage? I think you've got it backwards.

Yep. At least TND had a double meaning to it. We haven’t got a clever title since that one, actually. Bond’s family motto, childhood manor, a latin frase, a location’s name, an evil organization,... none tried to be clever. Well DUD tried and failed just because it was a stupid stupid film.
    +1. Thank you!

I'd say TND is a rather weak title. Tomorrow Never Lies would have been much better.

IMO we've had a few great titles in the last two decades, in fact only DAD is downright bad. TND could have been better, but at least they tried to get something evocative. SP is too generic, but sort of works in the context of the franchise's history.

Am I the only one who enjoys Craig’s films in this order?

    1) CR
    2) QOS
    3) SP
    4) SF

Skyfalls editing was absolutely amazing, perfect flow but it just felt off. Not sure what it is but it doesn’t feel like a Bond film. Fantastic movie but I enjoyed Spectre more.

Yeah spectre has some issues but it really did feel like a Bond film for me.

Especially Bonds escape from the lair!

    24. SPECTRE

This might change for the 3 above but I hope we get nothing below the bottom one in my lifetime.

I think it will be a tough task, I have QOS in my top 10 but all this it's the best of the DC era lovefest is getting nauseating.

We have a thread to cream your pants about it with it's regular champion to reignite whenever it dies off.

I feel Bond 25 will be as good as Casino Hopefully. It needs a great start and end to his trilogy, then ill be happy. If he has agreed to this one it must be a great one.

I don't understand why people really enjoyed QoS. I am a huge, huge bond fan, but I could easily see how it's one of the worst bond films of them all. There's so much in that film what made me hate it, from the poor directing, camera work, to disjointed scenes. I understand writing strike effected this movie, but it was so forgettable. The villian was the worst uninspiring villian in the entire franchise. So dull and forgettable. Even agent fields dead on the bed copied the scene form goldfinger. So unoriginal and rushed. Am I missing something here ? Q0S and die another day are the weakest two for me.

The order of Daniel Craig films I personally find the best in order.

Casino Royale - Still the best,
    Skyfall Comes close.
Spectre - loved this as a guilty pleasure bond film. Feels like a bond film the most.
QOS - forgettable in nearly every scene, apart from a few key scenes.
BOND 25 - hopefully as good as Casino Royale, but with the fun, bond nature of spectre. Gadgets, etc.

Quantum of solace has one of the greatest car chases of all time.

    The opera sequence was fantastic.

I loved that one scene where his credit card gets declined he says “Tell them I am going to Egypt.”

Elevator scene where he takes out 5-6 agents like it’s nothing? I have never seen Bond ever do that in a film.

The film has an exotic/different soundtrack also.

I just think in general the movie is super unique it has its own style and it’s a fun movie.

I have a hard time watching Skyfall 2-3 times a year but Qos I can watch every two months throughout the year.

That's interesting. I just did not like the unique style it had. I found it not enjoyable due tothe poor camera work. That car chase was not thrilling due to the camera work for me, personally. I found the Spectre car chase better, as it was more unique and bondy. If you dont have a memorable or decent villian, then I dont think a bond film can be good. The villian has to be as good as 007, so they say, and that's not what Qos had. If I had to choose any memorable scenes from QoS, the only one that stands out to me is the flight scene. When I think of QoQ, I just remember the desert. I did like that aspect of it. I hated the sound track, was appalling if you ask me and felt rushed like the movie. Im glad you and others enjoyed it though, but it's certainly the weakest in Daniel Craig's series personally. But the thing is, if a film has moments I hate, then it can spoil the entire film for me. QoS had too many of them moments that made me dislike it. A few good scenes cannot save it, even Daniel himself admits there was trouble with the film in various interviews. He had to try write some of the film, and he joked about him not been a writer but had no choice. Spectre so much more enjoyable. It had a memorable opening sequence which just feels very bondy. QOS opening was just a generic car chase. Nothing stood out to make it feel like a bond film. Thats what makes bond films special in action. They do something interesting, like the helicopter doing barrel rolls in Spectre, for example. You get my point. And click ha.

But when they took the same imagination of Goldfinger with Agent fields, that was it for me. It was uninspiring, cheap way to try make it unique when it's not. I dont mind them inspiring scenes from other bond movies, Skyfall did it as a celebration so that was great, but this was not to my liking at all. Sorry. I went out of the cinema that day, thinking. They have completely run out of new ideas. Felt far more generic than a bond film should.

Am I the only one who hates QoS hear ? Is anyone else same as me.

Well he shot Mr. White and was taking him to be interrogated, on the way he gets ambushed by Spectre...

Camera work was intentional. Some of the action films that came out around that time used the same fast cuts.. Batman begins and I believe a Bourne film??

Shaky cam was the cool thing to do.

I actually really hated the use of it for the sienna scene. Car chase I liked the fast cuts it felt like I was there, it’s so loud, the Aston’s engine roaring is fantastic.

Don't get me wrong, it had that powerful feel of aston and that, but I agree with you on the chase sequence. That camera work was horrible. There was no need to continue that constant cut of scenes and shakiness on the foot chase. Thats been a complaint by many people so look how skyfall fixed it and it was spot on. Even spectre. My favourite two from Daniel are casino royale and spectre, then skyfall . Loved Spectre as a guilty pleasure due to gun barrel returning, the opening sequence, and the sound track. I loved that opening day of the dead sequence and sound was spot on. Thats going to take some beating for me.
