I agree... on paper, this is my favorite cast since CR. Lashana Lynch, her part, is my only concern.

Rewatching the press day, Naomie Harris was the only one who was great... energetic, articulate, positive... if Moneypenny’s role gets expanded, I will be okay with it... she made me come around to it :)

I watched the interview with DC talking future Bonds and his role. Poor guy couldn't even muster a sentence without stuttering.

I actually think Lashana Lynch was all of those things, but was quite limited by what she could say. With Seydoux and de Armas, I think it's a language barrier and also not wanting slip up and say something they shouldn't. It'd probably be easier for them to discuss things in their own native language.

I think Craig's era is over story-wise, but at the same time I don't like any of the other "candidates", so I'll be glad if he stays.

How whiney Daniel Craig killed James Bond

The Sun and the Mail seem to have gone full anti-Craig mode. I dunno, did Dan say he won't read those newspapers? :P Did he insult them or something?! I'm sure Craig is aware of the press backlash and will call it a day after Bond 25.

Perhaps there is a kernel of truth about Craig being difficult and the press know about it and they're wanting Bond 25 to fail or not to do too well and this will mean Craig not coming back for a sixth film.

If there is any truth to Craig controlling much of the production and being difficult, it looks like Bond 25th will have a rough shooting schedule but that won't matter to Joe Public. If the trailers look cool and the hype does its job I expect Bond 25 - The Eclipse Of Shatterhand :P - to do big box office.

I don't think it matters if Bond 25 does less than a billion dollars worldwide. Some movies don't even get theatrical releases. They end up in the dark recesses of Netflix and no-one watches 'em! It's all relative. If Bond does 700 or so million - I'm sure it will be seen as a hit.

Man, if Craig was difficult why would now, 5th film in, suddenly be the reason he’s being jettison? It’s ridiculous. If you don’t like him, fine, but stop trying to come up with absurdities for why this is it.
He said it’s his last, but we know Barbara LOVES him.., she will want and ask him back and make it both a personal plea and financial gain... what he decides from there I think will be down to how much he enjoyed Fukunaga and making B25... if it was magical, I see him returning, if not, it will reaffirm his impulse to exit.

    We shall see...

Bang-on @DoctorNo .... Anyone who works with Craig, and I know a couple of the lucky bastards, have said the same thing: polite, respectful and a true professional. One of the guys I know and I am working with on a project of my own, is one of the biggest second unit guys (with an academy award to back up his talent), says Craig is a gamer (which means he dives into everything).

I have heard nothing bad about the guy.

I do believe, unfortunately, this is his last. So, as Bond fans, lets enjoy it-- and drown out the sewer-garbage from TNYP and it's ilk! This is the man who rode in on CR, QoS (I still love it), SF... (and yes, a weaker effort in SP)...

I think CF is hitting this, with DC, out of the park (feels reminiscent of the CR hate-bating). Get ready haters...

@peter I don't hate him I just think we might want someone new to change things up its like any other bond like moore brosnan and list goes on

While I think these tabloids take it way too far, I think these forums protect Dan a little too much. I agree with some parts of these articles. I get that Dan is introverted, reserved, etc. So am I. But he's definitely had this kind of whiny attitude since the beginning.

    Examples?
  • Shardlake wrote: »
I'm not putting a link but it seems the Sun are running with the idea that Dan has taken control of the film, the launch was a flop, they don't have a clue what is going on and all the crew hate Craig.

They are also comparing EON to MCU and the hype juggernaut of Endgame . Possibly some lazy hack has been listening to some of the verbal diarrhoea that certain members spout here when they feel like kicking the series because it doesn't deliver on their expectations.

I don't know the idea mayeb to spur him onto produce a CR standard performance by bad mouthing him but the press really don't like Daniel Craig.

I imagine he's going to smash it out the park and leave those talentless copy and pasters eating their words.

They'll be eating out of his hand come release when the film is grabbing raves across the board.

The Sun and the New York Post, both owned by Rupert Mudoch's News Corp., are doing stories along this line. (I won't post the links, either).

I don't have an issue with Arnold. His best work is very good. And I like it when he's given the chance to work on the title track and work the themes into the score. Worked brilliantly on CR (although much less so with TWINE). TND would have been much better if Arnold's Surrender had been used for the title sequence. Ditto SF and SP would have been elevated with Arnold on board - imagine what he would have done with Adelle's song theme throughout the movie - not worth thinking about the missed opportunities.

However I feel it's unlikely he will return this time or probably ever. Why would Fukunaga use Arnold when he can work with anyone he wants? And I suspect the same will apply to future directors as well.

Because EON have a habit of returning regular Bond contributors, regardless of who the director is. The titles, the script (P&W are brought back yet again), and the music. I reckon judging by this trend, Arnold will always be the default music guy that EON revert back to.

The only thing I want is Bond 25 to be a great film and a solid send off for Craig, to never return again. Craig has had his time and like @Univex has stated, it's time for Turner to take over infused with fresh inspiration. At least Turner has an inherent charm like Connery and Moore had. Out with the old and in with the new.

I don;t find Lynch as attractive as the other three, but she's very charming. I can see why Fukunaga gravitated to her. Also I found this interview and she seems to hint at her Bond cast at around 6:00 minute mark. This video was uploaded on 6 March.

Also, a new story in The Mirror, that is a fairly big spoiler...................

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/film/bond-baddie-rami-malek-killed-14793044

    - Malek's character gets strangled in a grizzly death.
    - Bond will die at the end, possibly by being poisoned.

Fresh article today, jamaicaobserver.com, Babs & Michael on why they choose Jamaica

    What's in a location?
The producers discuss why film Bond 25 in Jamaica

    https://jamaicaobserver.com/entertainment/

My guess is when they start shooting today it will be at the fake villa somewhere along the coastline of Port Antonio/Portland. Clue? The five star hotel Trident with the actors (map) is in that costal area. Pure logic tells me they won't drive very far to the location.

Been trying to find the villa (small sandbank really) with the help from the snippet of the set building/sandbank/leafy lagoon shown in the press conf. Not an easy task.

Wild idea: Someone should email Observers journalist who interviewed Babs/Michael and ask him politely more about the area, possible location(s), sending us (this forum) fresh pics/vids, etc, unless there's already some hardcore fan in the area?

I might be wrong but I think EON are the source of all these rumours that keep being put out.

After having their dirty washing very publicly exposed over SPECTRE, having correspondence between studio executives about how the script is working and also having early drafts leaked.

I think they are actually keeping the story well and truly under lock and key and pushing these stories out to the right places, I figure we are going to see more and more of these so called possibilities.

EON is being smart here, in this day and age trying to keep a secret is nigh on impossible but if you flood the internet with BS it pushes these tabloid hacks from pillar to post looking for tit bits. When BB & MGW have this locked down and they'll reveal what they need to at the right time.

Don't believe that story for one minute.

The guy has never said he doesn't like playing Bond. He has never shown it, either. It's all misinterpretation of proxemic, wording, shyness,... He does like to play Bond. He has personally adopted many traits of the character, has bought an Aston Martin at some point, uses Rolex and Omega watches on Nato Straps,... It all gives him a kick, I tell ya.

Brosnan was the same, he kept and wore his suits, had the Vanquish until it burned to ashes,... Sometimes he appeared to be fed up in many interviews post TND, but they do like playing Bond. They all did, even Lazenby, it got to his head. Even Connery knows it made his entire career.

Now, playing coy about it is an exercise of modesty. Would you all prefer that it went to his head and he was a cocky bastard about it? Cause down the line it's bound to appear someone like that. Then we'll be ailing the modesty days and traits of Daniel Craig.

I'll say this again, he does like to play and be bonded with this character. It's all misreading and wrong analysis by the same people who were never comfortable with him being Bond in the first place.

I'm not his biggest fan, that's for sure. But that's to do with his image and with the way I imagine Bond. I like to identify with the character, even physically, and I can't with someone who looks he came in from the cold, from Siberia maybe, I don't know. But I do appreciate his contribution, and I think he is a superb actor if given the right material to work with, has a superb voice and mannerisms, which harken to the panther like Connery. So, I'm all for having him do another after the 25th. If he doesn't, I won't loose sleep over it. But I'll tremble to think which choice they'll make next. Can be far worse. Much worse. The only candidate I like so far is Turner.

But to get on topic again, Craig does like to be Bond, he doesn't like to show it though. I've seen him be modest about many other things. And he reacts the same way. It's just the way the man is. Leave him be. And rejoice about his new film.

By the way, he doesn't read us. But if he did, this would be his face. Bored with yet again the same detractors and comments.

I was sold on Craig when CR was filmed. He put all into it. I lost Craig watching SPECTRE. Beside all other flaws of that movie his performance felt lukewarm to me and his famos interview fit to that. So it‘s not often I agree with you @PanchitoPistoles but this time I do.
