And you can't really detail a production when one isn't even going on.

Hence, renaming this into a 'Rumors/Speculation' thread, or opening up a thread for this discussion to take place in. A Production Diary is great, but it only really works when there's real news and an actual production to discuss.

@Benny It's called "Bond 25 Production Diary" because there's a timeline on the OP that is consistently updated with each piece of news.

@Creasy47 That is what the beginning of all Bond film productions are like. This is first and foremost a speculation thread. Once more concrete news is released, we speculate based on that particular discussion.

Opening up or reopening a preexisting speculation thread will have the same members posting news/rumours and the same members expressing how undeniably true they are. Let's not let all this effort go to waste.

But Jake, your updates are not news, just rumours or not even.that. I would think Bennys idea for this thread was good.

Well, no: the speculation for the last few movies at least included some straight forward ideas and guesses, not all this bookie nonsense and back and forth over the same few actors, over and over and over. Beyond that, it's just certain members attacking other members, or things turning into completely out of left field spam.

If you all don't want the thread to be changed, though, I'll just avoid this thread for the time being. With no official news whatsoever, I find it surprising that there are a good 50+ new posts on this, daily. Ah well.

If Bond 25 features a new Bond actor then so be it, but i think they would be mad to lose the MI6 team. Harris is a fine modern Moneypenny, Fiennes is great as M and Wishaw developed into a briĺliant Q in SP. Keep them all in place

I never recalled any people complaining about the Spectre Production Timeline, which worked on the exact same basis. If this thread bothers a member this much, maybe it's a good idea to avoid it.

I've said all I need to say. At the end of the day, it's a mod's decision for whether or not they want to close this thread, but I urge them to consider those who enjoy it and not spoil it for them.

Nobody said anything about closing it. All that was mentioned was renaming it or opening up another thread.
Jake, I totally remember the very same discussion, so yes, there were complaints. But you seem to take it personal, which it is not.

Which would be a redundant effort if you ask me. It's only the same couple of immature members that ruin this thread for everyone else.

@Germanlady, I'm not taking anything personally. I just think, like I said before, that it's those same few members that push people away from here.

I definitely think that Nolan would be interested in working with Aidan Turner. After he discovered Cillian Murphy he's been a fan of Irish actors ever since. According to the daily express Aidan Turner is 'done and dusted' for the role, so if Nolan wants in he'll have to learn to love the Irish wonder.

Yeah that's what EON will say: 'Right Chris we'd love you to direct the next 3 Bonds but Turner has to play the lead and we ain't budging on that.'

'Hello Warner. Babs here. Yeah we lost Nolan. Just couldn't agree terms. But don't worry Lee Tamahori has said he thinks Aidan Turner would be a great Bond so we're signing him up tomorrow.'

I wish we could get something Machiavellian. More of like an evil Bond who isn't a hero. A cunning, manipulative bachelor with a hint of humanity which he's tried to rule out for his career. Imagining something Fincher-Esque.

I would be done with the series if they pulled that.

Hehhe another fan of the classic formula of 1962-2002. I like to see more fans of the typical Bond formula now i still love Craig my preference for the safe stuff doesn't mean im not open to other things.

I can like them very much too in a different way but the formulatic cinematic Bond is very special to my heart.

The classic formula stopped working some time between 89 and 95 IMO.

TLD is the last film that still feels like it's really fully part of the original Cubby era IMO.

LTK (although I like it) begins a process of tinkering with the formula - Bond going rogue, 'this time it's personal', Q joining Bond in the field etc.

GE by contrast tries so hard to go back to the formula that it ends up feeling like pastiche. By 95 the magic was gone and its as if EON is just going through the motions.

It took them until 2006 to work out how do take a new approach that wasn't just at attempt at doing a poorly reheated Moore movie.

And then Mendes came along and almost took us back to pastiche again (although superior quality pastiche to what we'd seen during Brosnan's era).

Can't disagree with this. Especially the last bit. SP is just Nandos chicken served up in a Michelin * restaurant.

We already have a Rumors Thread for 'Bond 25':

    http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/13754/bond-25-rumours

Seems some wanted the rumors/speculation talk to happen there, saving this thread for when the real news kicked off, which is, I suppose, how it should've gone, but whatever. Carry on.

I wonder if Nolan even knows who Turner is? Unless his wife has a fetish for shirtless men that Poldark sates, I don't think the chances are very big that he does.

    Couldn't agree more.

If they were going to go after Nolan as the director of Bond 25 with that film also introducing the next Bond, there's no way that process gets underway without some input from Nolan. I mean, they gave Martin Campbell some input into the process for Casino Royale, with two of his picks making it pretty far into the process (Goran Visnjic and Henry Cavill).

If Campbell got to have input into the casting of Bond #6, you can be absolutely certain that Nolan will get as much input, and probably more, if he is indeed the one to be introducing the next Bond.

Don't forget the one-in-a-billion escape opportunity pulled off by the Joker in TDK and Silva in SF.

This actually happened in several films all at once - Skyfall, The Avengers, Star Trek into darkness, and even The Dark Knight Rises all featured the villain being deliberately captured as part of a Master Plan (TM)

Stop the presses! Aidan Turner has hit the obligatory "betting suspended!" status, becoming approximately the 583rd rumored Bond actor to do so.

I think that this is, what, the third time betting has been suspended on one of the so-called "candidates".

I guess the bookies are right, though. They were spot-on with their bets in 2005, what with betting being suspended at various points with Dougray Scott, Hugh Jackman, and Ewan McGregor as the leading "contenders" back then.

I'm still holding out for Gillian Anderson. She'll take us to places Turner never could, and she'll really get to flex her acting muscles playing a male British agent disguising himself as a woman for a pressing international mission.

Wow, EON really appears to have taken its foot off the pedal recently. Either that or they have just learnt to be a lot more sneaky. No news in over 2 weeks! One thing, however has not changed, if you have noticed? Remember when Elba was the favourite, and Hiddleston? Remember those guys? No, no one does. We haven't heard anything about them in weeks, at least not related to playing James Bond. One name has been consistent in this regard: ever since he was first mentioned way back In December of 2015, Aidan Turne--

A good post up until then.

We're all chasing our own tails here. Right now, Daniel Craig IS James Bond. He hasn't announced his retirement nor have EON announced a replacement. This could be the state of play for many months to come. In that time lots of actors will keeping coming into the frame, but Daniel Craig still has the option of one more movie and his last four movies have made close to $3 billion. It means he's guaranteed to get bums on seats, so if he wants to return no way will anyone say no.

The only reason its not unanimous for Turner is because in a lot of his press photos he's sporting a full beard, so people can't really see him as Bond. If you see this guy shaven, its phenomenal. He's the picture of how Fleming described Bond. It really is uncanny.

But I always thought he described Bond as having a cruel mouth, not a pouty one?

Can't really say that I see a similarity to Turner in this:

I do think that other actors that have been mentioned by the tabloids bear some resemblance to this drawing of Bond, though.

Why do people use that photo as some kind of qualifier for being Bond or Bond-like? None of the six Bond actors have looked anything like it.
It wasn't being used that way. It was being used to rebut the idea that Turner is "the picture of how Fleming described Him Bond".

I personally don't care if the actor playing Bond looks like that.

Agreed. However, face-wise the only actor to come close is probably Moore but his hair style is different enough to throw off the resemblance.

That being said, with Craig's casting they might as well toss that pic on the bonfire.
