That statement almost makes me wish Disney would distribute Bond.
Not me. If Disney was in control, we'd have countless spinoffs/prequels for M, Q, Moneypenny. Hell, I bet if they were at the helm back in '02, that 'Jinx' spinoff would've most certainly happened.
Now your just being obtuse. Not that it matters. Go ahead.
You're*.
So you'd rather this happen? It's a Disney staple. Guess I'm in the minority that didn't need any more Jinx than we already have.
Whatever, you've missed the point entirely.
I'm disappointed that they appear in no rush to move forward at this time. I have a feeling the proposed MGM IPO is a big factor in how they will play this, attempting to capitalize on buzz for Bond to boost interest.
According to Screen Daily, it's under the Eon banner.

I sure haven't. What's with the attitude?
I'm sorry if that came off flippant. It was never meant to.
So, you'll believe rumours that Hiddleston is going to be Bond as long as they're not attributed to sources close to Tom Hiddleston. You know that doesn't make sense, right?
I know it's hard to accept that someone as shy and publicity-averse as TH would be playing the PR game in this way, but it does appear to be happening.
I blame that Taylor Swift woman.
If that's true, I'm sorry. It wasn't deliberate.
Disney works their franchise in that kind of way :
They bring back Star Wars and now we have a first new trilogy and three spin-off. Then I guess will have some time off and then they'll bring it back again with a new trilogy.
They have Marvel, and they extend its universe with multiple movies that are linked together, in a narrative design that will ultimatly come to an end.
... Until they'll just start over.
They have all their animated fairy tales which they turn into live action movies, with the will of making cross-over (they are rumours, I don't know if they're confirmed, of a "Disney Villains" movie where they're all together).
If Bond comes into the hands of Disney, I don't see them making Bond the way Sony or MGM did.
My guess is that they will make numbers of trilogies and all that stuff. Bond films will hit theaters every two years until they finish their trilogy or quadrilogy or whatever, and then they will make anothers.
It would not be necessarily a bad thing, but it would be different. Maybe it's not that bad to will to make trilogies of Bond. I love Craig movies and what they tried to bring but my thinking is that they kind of failed. They wanted to make a "Craig-saga". It didn't turn well with Quantum of Solace, which its linking with Casino Royale is not clear for most of people.
Then they tried to link everythink together in SPECTRE with a lot of nonsense ("everyone works with SPECTRE, even Silva, yolo").
If they really wanted to link everything, they should have done it since the beginning... and I don't think they did. Now SPECTRE was clearly written to have a following that we may never have if Craig does not come back.
If Disney would distribute Bond, those things would have been planned and done well... I guess ?
Craig films were not written to be just single missions like before, they all had a lot of personnal matters (from best to worst), they were written to be a the story of James Bond, and not just missions of James Bond.
But it was not perfect. At all. In my opinion.
Sure Disney would probably do bad things, such as M-origins, "MI-6 Before Bond", Netflix series or whatever. I wouldn't be confident. But at least I would be sure they are going somewhere. And for now the Bond franchise isn't going somewhere. It's undecided. Barbara's plans may fall apart with Craig's departure.
Bond saga needs a direction. Until Casino Royale, it didn't need any because it was just new missions. Now they've rebuild everything, and they have to build again.
I don't know if I was very clear, haha.
Thanks for joining me. So... cream? Sugar?
Whisky.
I think they understand that Bond has always been a paced franchise, and I don't think they would try to apply the Marvel or Star Wars technique to it where we'd get spin offs and tv shows.
And in that case, they probably aren't as interested in a franchise that brings in only around a billion every two/three years.
Like I said, they may bid, but I don't think they would approach it the same as they have other projects, which means they aren't as interested. I think they understand its process and its pace, and understand the family dynamic at Eon.
Anyway... EON needs to be clear in what they want for James Bond. To make a conclusion for the Bond saga would be a good thing at first. But with or without that conclusion, things will need to be thinked in advance for what will be the adventures of the next James Bond.
Well,
I guess I have coffee in my whisky
Finding a financial partner willing to help put out a film every 2-3 years shouldn't be that difficult. MGM just has to rid themselves of the delusion that they'll ever be a successful and independent studio in the future. The second is to find the motivation at EON to move a bit faster. Maybe more involvement from the younger guard at EON is what's needed moving forward, especially since Barbara has her eyes on other projects.
I have not seen any reliable news outlet report information from the "sources close to Tom Hiddleston". Imo it is a bit rich to believe these completely unreliable gossip websites and then blame Tom's girlfriend for their stories.
Based on the industry sources on the social media, I do think that Tom Hiddleston might be the next Bond, but I am (of course) not 100% sure.
