"...following the announcement he would be stepping down." You mean the announcement that hasn't happened?

Rumor, speculation, guesswork, that's all it is. Guess they have a 'Bond rumor' quota to meet.

    That must be it.

Hmm, interesting. It just seems too much of a coincidence for this rumor to resurface now. Perhaps there's more truth to this than we know.

The article spells out confirmations that are absolutely unfounded, on top of trying to find confirmations amidst betting rumors. I'll find it comical when the new actor is announced, and it's someone we weren't expecting at all.

I thought EON were thinking of @ClarkDevlin, @Creasy47 or @Thunderpussy for Craig's replacement.

Connery had a lived in look at 31 due no doubt to his having worked odd jobs at an early age, Navy, supporting his family as a teen, and growing up in the Great Depression. He had the real life experience 007 needs to be believable.
Most actors today don't get a lived in look until they are into their forties. These 30 year old candidates look like they could still be living at home with their folks and pretty much never getting laid. I want to believe instantly that when 007 enters a casino, oozing confidence that he can bed any woman there and fight and kill the henchman in the same evening. I don't want a James Bond that looks like he'd be more comfortable in his basement playing Guitar Hero.
    Well put!

    Agreed as well.

Hehe, well Vin Diessel has his own Bond like Character Xanader Cage who will comeback next year, basically he is almost like Bond but instead of the suits he uses jeans and tank tops and instead of Casinos and Martinis he goes to clubs and prefs the beer.

He is like the milllenial generation Bond.

    No hard feelings, right, @ClarkDevlin?

I can't say too much, but I have taken numerous flights to London, and may or may not have bumped into some EON representatives there a few times. Maybe it was for lunch, maybe something more...life-changing? I'm not saying I'm going to be the new Bond, but I'm also not saying that I didn't dress up in a tux, pose with a gun for cameras and romance a model in a bedroom set screen test. Expect a big announcement, or don't. Or do...

Not to mention it's from the same bookkeeper that's been wrong all along during this cycle of rumors as well as back in 2005 when they had Dougray Scott and Ewan McGregor as the odds-on favorites.

This is just the latest in an almost endless parade of rumors we'll be reading over the next few months.

We actually had a nice break from all these bookie Bond articles that had been suffocating us for so long. Now we're back to the suffocating again.

Someone call Hiddleston and tell him to get to snogging Ms. Swift on a paparazzi-populated beach so people think he's the confirmed 7th Bond. Then we can avoid all this garbage again.

The bookies probably decided to lay low for a while after they were wrong about an either Hiddleston or Turner being announced as the new Bond by the end of June.

Now, granted, they didn't say which June it would be.

This is like 2012 all over again. A bunch of nut jobs saying the world would end in late December, then when that didn't happen they said, "uh, we may have made some slight miscalculations. The end of the world is actually happening-"

Each June, maybe this is what we're looking at:

"We didn't mean the announcement was coming June 2016. We meant 2017, obviously."

    June 2017 passes.

"We never said it would come in June 2017. It was 2018. Don't look at me like that. We just misspoke."

    June 2018 passes.

"Why are you trying to slander us? June 2019 was always the estimate we gave for the announcement, no sooner and no later. It's coming, you better believe it. Turner and Hiddleston are in talks."

    June 2019 passes...

And on, and on, and on.

I get the feeling that they are waiting for a definitive word from Dan whether he's in or out for sure, and based on that, then they'll know what direction they are going in. If he does come back, they may get a movie out by the end of 2018, but if he doesn't coma back, we won't see another Bond film until 2019...

2025. If there's a 10-year gap between films, imagine how BIG that Bond 25 will be. :-)
