To tell you the truth, even though CR and QoS had great layouts, CR is my least favourite he ever scored. Almost no musical cue in it other than suspense and moody blow-ups. In QoS, the classicism of the old Bond tune is sort of (sort of) revived.

I think to this day, Arnold's best score in my honest opinion remains TND. His first.
DAD and QoS were my personal favorites of his, but I'm a fan of all his work.

I love DAD, but the techno beats that rained all over the score hurt the great music he composed for each track.

The music actually in the film removed a lot of those techno beats that are in the officially released score, It's a shame we didn't get those versions as well.

What I find so brilliant about his CR and QoS scores, particularly CR, is that he was able to discontinue attempting to channel Barry. The scores were closer to his style while strongly containing the Bond DNA

An Arnold return would be exceptional. I dream at some moments what his work would've done to further improve SF and SP, if not for Newman's involvement.

Just imagine, for instance, a slight emotive cue from his Vesper theme playing when Bond finds her interrogation tape in White's secret room in Morocco? I'd be covered in goosebumps.

Ideas, you say, @Murdock? Like a completely revamped score for SP in the style of Arnold? :D

That's a bit out of my hands at the moment but if I can find the scene where they find White's secret room, I can add that little hint of Vesper's theme. :)

I would be overjoyed to see this. Then, every time I watch SP I can pause the film at that point, watch your video with the Vesper theme, and then tune back into my copy of the movie afterward.

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, Have you seen my other rescores for Spectre? I've redone the car chase twice, the Plane chase 3 times, the Train fight and the PTS Helicopter fight. Not all of them With Arnold's music but music I thought would fit the scene's better.

No, but I'd love to. Are they posted on the forum anywhere?

I've always picture a bit of Vespers theme creeping in during the scene in Skyfall when M tells Bond' "Orphans always make the best recruits"
Bond gives a knowing half-smile as if remembering Vesper making the same observation.

Craig has to go. I have been a fan of him as Bond since day 1, but the series needs fresh blood. I am very much looking forward to his performance in the upcoming TV series PURITY, but I really don't want to see him in Bond 25.

I think a fresh turn around can come with Craig onboard... i think the decisions made by Mendes and co. (personal feelings aside) have been dubious in terms of popular opinion here.... personally, direction wise, i think Mendes creates some beautifully stunning work... from a story/script standpoint - he's been hit or miss...

i think if they brought in some new creative blood, that would go a long way to freshen things up.. rather than just simply swapping the main actor..

but if you're looking for a complete overhaul, then i understand your point.

4 is a good number of films, especially now with the 3 year gaps. Anymore than that, and complacency sets in, if it hasn't already.

respectfully disagree... i think it's all dependent on making a great films that are successful..

Tom Cruise is still going strong with Mission Impossible, having just completed his 5th film last year - and a 6th already in development..

make a great film, and people will come to see Craig in a 6th..

SP started off great - but by the end felt bloated, and overstayed it's welcome by about 15 minutes.

Arnold needs to return. Both Broccoli and Arnold were at a Bond event recently, and I'm sure the conversation of him returning came up between the two.

I do hope so. Arnold's return would keep me optimistic with the music department, that's for sure.
@Creasy47 pair Arnold with Denis Villeneuve and we've got ourselves one hell of a film. Oh, and replace Purvis and Wade.

What's even better about that pairing is the inevitability that Deakins would return, as well, since he typically works with Villeneuve. I'm excited to see just how beautiful 'Blade Runner 2' is going to look with both of them on board.

I liked Hoyt Van Hotema with SP... he's no Deakins - but he created some stunning imagery and lighting..

@talos7, I do the same thing in the SF casino scene when Bond tells Severine he knows when a woman is afraid and pretending not to be. It's moments like that I really enjoy because you can tell she's still at the back of his mind at moments.

It's a shame we still haven't gotten a Fleming-esque scene of Bond visiting Vesper's grave. The perfect place for it would've been at the end of QoS following the Yusef confrontation, but oh well. I like to pretend he's visited it once or twice anyway pre SF.

I'm personally glad Bond hasn't visited Vesper's grave. That's more of a Tracy thing in my opinion. Not saying I'm right just saying my opinion.

I'm most definitely in the minority here, but I don't have a problem with Newman's score for SP for the most part. The only quibble I really have is with that incessant repetitive drone that goes on and on at the end in London (and then gets louder until it almost becomes a headache inducer).

Other than that, I quite like it.

Of course, I would have preferred something different and with more Bondian panache though.

@obrady, it would be nice. In the OHMSS novel he states how he visits her littleanonymous

Fleming writes about visiting Vesper's tiny, almost anonymous grave site in OHMSS the novel. I think it would be a cool, Flemingesque touch.

Indeed. Doesn't Fleming say it is an annual pilgrimage?

I would happy to see Dan do it, but of course we are stuck with Madeline now. I guess if she dumped him we could have a scene with him at Vesper's grave but I fear we would be approaching soap opera melodrama so probably best avoided.

I suppose if a new actor takes over it could be done in an FYEO PTS sense to say that this is the same Bond before we embark on him taking on Blofeld again (with, hopefully, this time no mention of a DISS - although it could be an amusing homage to have Blofeld serving up Bond some salami and a pork pie at some point).

True ..but in a movie at least to me that would come off as yet another homage. This time to the FYEO pts.

But I concur now yes that would be a nice Fleming touch.

I think we've had more than our fair share of scenes that are reminiscent of prior entries recently, and so I would prefer not to see this. The FYEO PTS is quite iconic (I watched it again earlier this week and it's a great intro to the film) and memorable, and doing another grave scene would be a little bit much in my view.

They've pretty much buried (pun intended) the Vesper angle with Maddy.

The Vesper grave visit could happen after Bond has wrapped up SPECTRE and killed Blofeld.

His message to Vesper in spirit being, "The man who led to your death won't hurt anyone else now."

I have to say I think it's probably best to steer clear of this. If we're not careful P&W will kill off Maddie in the PTS and then later on we'll have a scene with Bond at a graveyard and we'll have Vesper, M and Maddie all lined up in a row.

F**k it might as well throw Solange, Fields and Severine in too.

Shagging Dan's Bond is clearly a dangerous buisness. There's only Lucia who has survived it and she's now in the witness protection scheme. I guess Maddie is still alive - for the time being.

Bomb disposal squads have better survival stats than that.

We might as well learn that they had sleeper agents in the CIA who snuck in and managed to kill Lucia nevertheless, delivering the metaphor "No one escapes the wrath of Spectre".

It'd be a great way to have Felix involved again (a must for me), but I liked that Lucia got as happy an ending as someone connected to SPECTRE could have. It'd be a shame to see that undone.

I wouldn't want Lucia killed at all. She does deserve at least an ending of satisfactory after the hell she's been through since her involvement with Marco Sciarra. Good thing he didn't take the cause of his demise personally, we'd know there's a code of honour among assassins... ;)

What I wouldn't want EON to do is heading down the way of the OHMSS dilemma. It was done once, leave it be. Leave Madeleine alone, start over. She's a closed case.

I don't think there's any chance Madeleine will be just dropped, but a compromise could be reached to satisfy both groups fans fall into.

We witness Bond trying to move on with her at Bond 25's start, but quickly he realizes that the calm doesn't suit his stormy tendencies and he decides to part ways with her as his heart isn't in it. He thought he could move on, but realizes the only life he knows is that of a blunt instrument.

Or, Madeleine sees that their life makes him unhappy and she ends it with him instead, to aid the both of them in the long run from drawing out a relationship that had no chance of sustaining itself. Madeleine could tell Bond to come back to her when his business with Blofeld is ended, and he could take her up on the offer, or it could be left more ambiguous as to what he does, choosing between her and MI6.

If the Craig era has to conclude, however, I'd much prefer some finality in its ending. I care too much about the era at this point to get an ending that leaves us hanging to wonder forevermore about what Bond will be doing next. Having an ambiguous ending is also very anti-Bond. It just doesn't feel right, as it's a series that always delivers films carrying a definite ending that has real impact sans mystery. I'd like for this idea to continue even if EON want to tell the last adventure of Craig's Bond to wrap everything up with him for good.
