I thought everybody made it clear, that after 8 months shooting and all the pre production, they were done and making another one was indeed close to a death sentence. So why are we even entertaining such an idea?

Because of tabloid journalism with its inherent inaccuracies.

Yes, but I thought, we would know better by now. But then again, its SOMETHING to talk about ;)

if this is true I would be quite happy with Craig having 6 it's two more then brosnan and (if we ignore Never say never again) the same as Connery which would be nice.

    I always thought the reason Bond 24 and 25 wasn't a 2 parter was cause Mendes wouldn't do a 2 parter?

You've got to be really sure of your bet to shoot two movies back to back. Don't think they'll be ready to take that risk.

However, if Craig is getting burned out on the role, and has shot down the idea of back-to-back shooting in the past, won't he definitely not agree to doing it after having done SP and being tired from all the shooting?

Well if he gets paid well, the story is right, the director he likes, and he knows that these last 2 back to back films will be his swan song then maybe he will do it.

Presumably the cat is nonplussed by Blofeld's ongoing change in appearance.

It would certainly be an interesting thing for the franchise to do...and quite an event, I would think, particularly if they 'buzz it up' about the two-films being Craig's swan song.

Yea I think Craig's selling point here is a tone of crash and retirement from Bond after a grueling filming schedule. But the LAST grueling film schedule.

I'm not looking for "events" or STAR WARS level mass appeal. I want a return to strong, solid, stand alone, story driven (i.e., an actual mission) James Bond films.
And preferably less of a soap opera and overtly personal encounters with the villains. Why does it have to be 'someone from the past, out to get him now' and not just two different new enemies ought to fight for a cause? The 'Good vs Evil' type? And on top of everything, I would very much rather if this wouldn't feature "the hero's emotional breakdown." We've had enough of that in the current era.

Well, you can't say, there was an emotional breakdown in Sp. He was as emotional stable here as it gets in the DC era.

In Spectre? No, thankfully there wasn't much. But, Casino Royale and Skyfall were heavy on the subject. In parts, Quantum of Solace was too, in which, in my honest opinion, was executed better than the other two.

What I fear most is the "mostly predicted assassination" of Madeleine Swann in the vein of Tracy that is scaring me, because I don't want him to suffer from more demons.

I think, that is what they figured, that many had enough of too much emotion, hence, they didn't show as much now and what happens? ;) People miss it.

Well, then, as the saying goes, not everything is for everyone. It's appreciated among the majority, but I do like my Bond adventures straightforward and emotionally detached.

Best of luck to them, what can I say?

Yes, the whole "Bond struggling with inner demons" thing was novel and refreshing when it was introduced in CR. It was a humanizing aspect that breathed new life into the franchise.
But the brakes really need to be put on the whole melodrama angle, which is why we need fresh blood in both the directing AND writing departments.

Bond didn't have any demons in Spectre, he was a man on a mission. Blofeld, now he had some demons. :))

Agreed. It's too overly done it dropped the ball, if you ask me. It would be better if they tone it down and try not to replicate either Casino Royale's or Skyfall's melodrama. Well, perhaps I am being a little too harsh with Royale, but Skyfall did heighten it up to an unpleasant level. That's only my wishful thinking.

Wait until he reveals how much he loathes Bond because his cat loved him more, as one of the users stated above. :))

No but there was the usual CR & SF-inspired melodrama that was tonally wrong for the film. SP didn't need any of that to work. Unlike in CR and SF, the 'melodrama' actually took away from SP's quality rather than adding value.

If it was up to me, I really would have brought more horror aspects to Spectre, regarding to that of the organization with the namesake as the title being very dark, sadistic and additionally, creepy. I would also have ditched the Madeleine Swann angle as being the love interest, and have Bond hunting down something bigger and larger than life, as thrilling as the tentacles of the ghostly octopus showed in the main title credits. The film really should have followed that atmosphere.

@ClarkDevlin, Agreed. The horror and creepy elements of Spectre were so refreshing. Spectre was pretty much how I visualize Fleming's novels when I read them. A spookier soundtrack would have also added some more atmosphere.

Definitely, @murdock. I wish it had more of that horror and creepy elements in it. Like the real-life Hellfire Club of the old times, Spectre could be its fictional 21st century revival. A dark cabal of unusual things to the fright of the mankind.

As for the soundtrack, imagine if Lana Del Rey's proposed song of the film won the seat and inspired the music for the rest of the film. I'd very much like to have the next one bringing in this atmosphere rather than the melodrama.

@ClarkDevlin as much as I love Spectre, I think if the encounter at Blofeld's lair lasted longer and had a Girl With the Dragon Tattoo touch during the torture scene and a creepy track like this when Bond's getting his skull drilled, It would have made a great scene even better.

Oh, I do love Spectre a lot, and even though I did see its wrongs and flaws, I thoroughly enjoyed the film for what it was. But, yes, as you said, @Murdock, the Blofeld Lair segment should have lasted thrice as longer, with the torture scene having the feel you mentioned above as well as that track fitting it like a glove. The London climax should have been left for M and the rest of the MI-6 team to handle, going in tandem with the battle in Morocco, taking place at the same time, say Bond finds the way to send Q a message, revealing that C was indeed an agent for Spectre.

That would have been great and Bond could have went off the Grid pretty easier when he rode off with Madeline.

That's a good point, Bond getting into the systems at the lair to send a message while goons are after him when he escapes torture. Therefore the whole sequence ends with the massive explosion, the cars escaping and the uncertainty of Blofeld.

Indeed. And that's how should it have happened.

So, despite having 3 years to come up with a great script for SP and making a right dog's dinner of it, EON naturally want to now task someone to come up with TWO great scripts. Riiiiiiight.
