I saw that ^ guy yesterday. He was in the same pub as I was.
  • Has Baz Bamigboye hinted that Craig is coming back?

An old article from Bamigboye that we missed. He hints that Craig is coming back but then does backtrack on it a little.

I remember there was a video clip around the time SF released, from Jimmy Kimmel I think, where he was interviewing random people on the street asking them about Bond. He spoke to a woman who had recently seen Craig on Broadway, and she said, "He looked like old cheese!" =))

The key word in my comment was "stereotypically". A person can be uniquely handsome or beautiful. My point is, I don't think the way he was photographed, at times, was complimentary.

    I dont
Nolan should never come anywhere near Bond. Ever. And neither should Mendes, who is the most uninspiring director in the entire film franchise. I'd rather have Marc Forster back than let Mendes put another soap opera in our hands.

And for the better, I think it would be better if the series is rebooted, but not with a rookie Bond, but a veteran 00-agent that is James Bond. Someone who knows his way around a lot of things, and brings some fun and escapism with him while at it. Dr. No started out that way, and this one should employ the same tricks.

I don't know why some people are so against character movement but I do think that it should be largely confined to Bond and the people he meets during the course of his mission. Enough with M and Penny! They should also stay put in their offices. We had great, interesting character development in the Fleming books and not just concerning Bond, so why not in the films? Bond is a melancholic, brooding character, at least in the books and it is good that they capitalized on this in the Craig era but it should be kept to a minimum for the next few installments. Bond wasn't like this in all the books.

Im kind of leaning now towards a new actor...I just feel Craig's popularity is starting to wane, and SP closes his story-arc for me.(Never thought I would hear myself say that, being such a strong Craig supporter).

But if he does come back then so be it,but bring back Campbell as well,im up for that..but it has to be soon, otherwise im not sure people would flock in droves as they did for CR,QOS and SF.

...starting to wane? On these boards or in terms of the universal, general cinema attendees?

Some have suggested that Campbell should be working with a new Bond. Why not with Craig again? They seemed to work well together on Casino Royale so why not again? CR is a great Bond movie too.

The answer is twofold I suspect:

    a) After the tiredness of Spectre and especially with the growing gaps between films, I think some are done with the Craig era—as much as they may have respected and enjoyed him in his time—and would like the breath of fresh air of someone new.

    b) It would just be cool to see Campbell debut three Bonds in three awesome movies.

I am mainly against it because it is overdone, and let's face it, Eon merely takes elements from the books' stories and don't really adapt the character personas. Bond wasn't a brooding and melancholic character with Connery and neither was in the subsequent portrayals until Craig, something that worked for the first five quite well. Had Bond been a British Phillip Marlowe in the spy business, not too many people would have been interested and the film series would have winded up like the film adaptations of the John Le Carre novels. Insignificant. They pushed the character development in the Craig era because that was the trend of the time. Not because they were trying to stay true to the source material. They never were. I don't remember M, Penny and Boothroyd given too much time in the books, as opposed to in the last two films. They lost the plot and dropped the ball. That's why with James Bond's cinematic franchise, these soap opera elements will never work and people are already getting tired of it.

Another reason why having past it Bond in SF was such a waste
  • Posts: 19,339
I like SF don't get me wrong, but the 'old dog' routine did surprise me after only 3 films ...no other Bond mentioned age,it was only MP in OP who did, about herself, when Bond flirted with Miss Smallbone,so why now ?

And to bring a totally 'younger attitude' Bond in SP really does indeed make it a waste, and irrelevant.

The more Craigbond's films get scrutinised, the more holes appear alas.

True. After two films of 'rookie' Bond we immediately got the 'old dog'. We never really got to see Craig's Bond at his prime as double-o.

That's what happens when you bring "artistic" directors to helm a Bond film.

I agree. Campbell debuting a new Bond actor again would be fantastic, and it would be a welcome reset back to form after the incessant and now tiresome (imho) navel gazing and brooding of the past 10 years.

Indeed. I have a few requests for B25, but chief among them is no more auteurs (I'll make an exception for Nolan as long as he's put on a tight leash). Also, make sure he (she)'s signed up for two films at the very least. It's time we get back to the Connery/Moore era of having the same chap do two in a row for consistency of vision. They can shake it up with the third if they want, à la GF or TSWLM.

He has never actually been considered; that was a contrivance of the tabloids based on something gleamed from the leaks. With that said, I love him as an actor and his double take at the mention of Bond was nice.

I like to think Blood Stone was the "mission" in between films.

As strange as it sound (thought Spectre ruined the theory) I always looked at the games (Specifically Blood Stone Goldeneye and 007 Legends) as the missions bond undertook between the films

I agree that Blood Stone was the mission. I don't consider the others canon as Spectre served as a retcon to them all. So, that's an alternate timeline featuring Craig's Bond regarding Reloaded and Legends.

If he is to do the debut of the next two Bonds as well, he will be 100 years old.
