I don't think his style really fits Bond, and I have no interest in seeing it. He's a bit too much Casino Royale '67 and a lot less From Russia with Love.
An interesting choice. The more theatrical amongst us would simply say, "Shoot."
I find Craig is aging quite well. He looks incredibly handsome in this picture.
I'm watching the wrong Soderbergh films I guess, haha. He did the Oceans, right? I think I've seen parts of the first two a long time ago. I think I'm more familiar with his guérilla documentary-style films, which feel like an odd fit for Bond for me.
Great picture! Daniel looks damn good right there.
Like I said, drama queen.
He's a good director, he's just a very specific one and I don't know how his style would translate. People see the Oceans films and think, "He shot that casino well, he'd be perfect for Bond." His tendency for including quirky, wacky characters in his films is what would worry me, and his visual style is pretty removed from the eloquent and glamorous kind I'd like to see used for Bond.
That success story is surely among the reasons Omega would love for Craig to continue as Ian Fleming’s iconic secret agent. At the dinner that followed the Q&A session, Aeschlimann hinted at the idea when he raised his wineglass to toast his special guest. “You’ve been a wonderful ambassador,” he told Craig. “I know I’m not alone in saying that we are hoping it’s you.”
I'm trying to figure out why he said, "we are hoping it's you." If he meant, we hope it's you in the next film, it's a strange way to phrase it.
Dan looks great though, tip-top.
He wouldn't be wearing it in the movie, it'd be fine.
Your right though he does look good- could see him doing 2 more films if they could actually release them and not wait 4 years for one
Granted. But he's still a talented director who doesn't need a bloated budget to tell the stories he wants to tell.
You mean from the same Eon that denied John Logan had been hired to write Bond 24? Just days before MGM announced it?
The same Eon that denied that Ben Whishaw was playing Q?
Just being cheeky. ;)
Understood. :-)
He appears about fifteen to twenty pounds above his 007 weight, and looks as if he's suffering jet-lag, a hangover, or both.
If DC comes back, and I want him to, he can't do the SC thing and be bloated and unrealistic. Even as an aging secret agent, he must come back taut and hard-wired. If he's not prepared to put that time in to the character this time, the blunt instrument, even aged, then forget it....
On a side note: very interesting that this special meal was held. Although DC (being DC) seemingly gave nothing away, I would say he has one foot clearly in 007's door... Realistically, DC the actor has nothing to offer these people (investors, designers and so on), but DC as 007 is priceless...
Weird, I thought the opposite. The angles of the camera in the Omaze video weren't befitting.
Companies do planning months in advance, and if Craig decides to pack it in, that announcement will be made at least one year in advance of the next film being released, as has been the practice in the past. Conversely the same if he stays. So the CEO is waiting to hear like the rest of us in order to understand the impact on his company's marketing plan.
