Why you cling to this weak assed hope that Turner will become Bond and Campbell will direct, giving us a GE/CR type highly praised Bond film. It's okay to have an opinion. But the incessant harping on about it everyday is wearing a little thin.
No evidence to suggest that Craig isn't coming back. None!
Till the time where actual news comes from EON, Daniel Craig is Bond in Bond 25.

    Here, here!

Age is merely a number. What concerns me is whether or not he has the energy to do another cracking Bond film.

Like I said, EON are reaching a stage where scaling back is required. If they're considering a more reined in standalone film with a new actor for Bond 25, then as far as I'm concerned that's the perfect environment for Campbell to return. If not, then it won't ever happen. But I think there's a distinct possibility, with the way things have lined up...

I guess we'll know what form Campbell is in when he delivers the long awaited The Foreigner later this year. I agree that age shouldn't be an impediment if the desire is there. He's an old hand at it by now.

That said, that film doesn't even have a trailer released yet, and it's set to come out in September later this year.

Yes, if The Foreigner turns out to be decidedly mediocre—somewhere in the range of a 5.9 out of 10 like Vertical Limit and The Legend of Zorro—we'll know he's in perfect shape to smash it out of the park with Bond! ;)

Agreed! It could still be good fun, though, but his real talent is in the Bond universe. Would love to have him back for a third.

I agree, which is why, if approached, Campbell would have to be honest with himself and with EON; if he's got the fire in his belly, let's roll, if not move on.

I still stand by the idea of putting the CR band back together and bookending Daniel's run as 007, and that includes Arnold.

Agreed. I'd also like the Craig era ending title song to be another rock'n'roll one in the vein of Cornell's "You Know My Name."

If the SPECTRE business is wrapped up I'd do anything to get a quiet scene of Bond visiting Vesper's grave as in the books, with Arnold's theme playing over it. Tears, they shall fall.

Forget it. The first movie of the next Bond era will be written AND directed by none other than Christoper Nolan.

If it turns out to be wrong (like your certainty that Radiohead would do SP's theme song), will you take a hiatus from the forums for the entire duration of the tenure of Bond #7? Like you said you would do between SP and B25 after the Radiohead theme song didn't happen?
They did do a theme though. It was just rubbish that's all.

If Barbara has the audacity to work with so many women like the head of Annapurna and Bigelow, are EON now going to be in danger of being called sexist and/or politically correct?

(Just trying to prepare for the next lame brained opinion from the usual suspects on the interwebs)

    This is beyond tantalising.

Bigelow is ridiculously qualified for the job, her action bonafides are through the roof. She also would be a starrier directorial choice than Mendes.

I also suspect that considering the current political climate, where we are seeing mass engagement on a large scale with the current policy landscape, that her credentials make her the most interesting choice.

Personally, I'd love to see a Tom Hardy Bond film with Bigelow directing. However, I doubt Daniel Craig would say no to her appointment. I also suspect that she'd ditch the Mendes baggage (no Blofeld, Swann or Hinx) and do her own original piece.

Make this happen! I'm tired of boring and formulaic Bond films. SP was messy, convoluted, predictable, and dull. Bond going arthouse is a very appealing idea.

First, I do believe the guy over at awardswatch.com was telling the truth, and that the people at Annapurna are confident that they will win over Barbara Broccoli. Second, I don't think Annapurna teaming up with EON would anywhere near guarantee that Bigelow would direct Bond 25. Yes, Annapurna was producing Bigelow's last movie and they are producing her next one, but that doesn't guarantee anything. Third, I don't think a Bigelow Bond movie would be an "arthouse" movie, it would be more like an intricate thriller. Fourth, the best thing about Bigelow doing Bond would be that it would probably be written by Mark Boal who is leagues above Purvis and Wade.

Exactly. Mendes gave us 'arthouse' Bond aplenty - enough of that.

I'm probably about to put my foot in it here and discover she's Canadian or something else entirely, but it would also be really refreshing to have an American direct a Bond film for once.

She's definitely Stateside American, @Getafix. Ex-wife of James Cameron. She's the only female director that's been suggested here that I think could do a credible job directing a future Bond movie.

I would love Bigelow to direct.. The continuity nerd in me does want the loose ends of spectre wrapped up (hell Kill Blofeld off in the PTS and have some line of dialogue about how Swann was murdered off screen I don't care)

As for Hardy or Craig. Honestly I would take either one I have made no secret that I love Hardy and put him in my top 3 (and yes my top 3 are Hardy Hiddleston and Fassbender and I am sure sadly none of them will be it)

Again I would prefer a Final film from Craig to wrap up the loose ends (Blofeild Swann etc) although really in a prefect world two more films would be nice... Especially if we are going with the title pattern of the last few films (location of the finale for the odd number films and the main villain for the even)

    then Craig's tenure would be

    Casino Royale
    Quantum of Solace
    Skyfall
    Spectre
The Silver Phantom 2018(with the title being reffered to as the train Bond and Blofeild have a climatic battle on)
Blofield 2020 (the finale battle between bond and blofield)

    Hardy Era
Risico (reffering to an Italian Villa where the climax will be)

    Etc

But one more craig film would be nice though title wise I am on the fence part of me likes how since Dalton technically the title have been following an interesting Pattern (with the next bond doing a film with the previous pattern and then building their own Pattern)

I had speculated earlier that Annapurna perhaps had this one locked. Let's see if this is the way it plays out.

Among those studios vying for rights, they are the wild card and the odd one. Why are they even there? I believe it's because MGM believe they can work with them (they already are on Detroit) and because Larry Ellison's daughter Megan, who owns the shop, will be able to make it work.

She, like Broccoli, is the daughter of a passionate mogul. As 2nd generation women who are living up their father's legacies, they both have something to prove. I can see a fit. Kindred spirits.

It's not necessarily a given of course, and I'd personally prefer Nolan. However, Annapurna with an Indie director and a low budget is a very tantalizing prospect.

    Yes slash the budget please.

I can see some political points being scored here too.

Women in charge of the most 'old school' male film franchise of all, in an era when the US arguably is run by a person with seriously old school male attributes.

Throw in a female director as well and the nose is seriously being thumbed.

    Girl power.

Interesting thoughts re. Ellison and Annapurna - I hadn't thought of it that way. There's not necessarily a tonne of money in the Bond franchise (when you consider that the first 'Cars' movie did something like $10 billion in merchandise) but there is a tonne of prestige.

So maybe Bond is a way for Annapurna to try to break through to the upper tier.

This is the best Bond related "info" in a long time, moreso than Craig coming back. This would be a massive coup if KB is hired to direct.

That makes me a little worried. By all means hire a female director, but are we really advocating the core of Bond to be altered to serve a political/social agenda?

I would rather EON stay away from indie directors or the likes of Medes. Stick to directors who know their way around the genre.

If Bigelow ever directs a Bond film, I hope she'll cast Jessica Chastain as the lead Bond girl (or main villain). Though @bondjames would die of a heart attack. ;)
