Me too. I'll avoid internet in general during that time period. You never know.

I've successfully stayed away from the Star Wars websites, as I heard there's a big twist in The Empire Strikes Back. Must get round to watching that...

is anybody else a bit disappointed that the premiere is going to be on the same day as general release in the UK?

For Skyfall I went to the Premiere and was lucky enough to get quite a few autographs including Daniel Craig and then my father and I attended a regional premiere in Hatfield on the Thursday and the whole week was brilliant and I was hoping to do a similar thing for Spectre.

I know the UK are getting it earlier than other countries so I shouldn't be complaining and I may be able to squeeze attending the premiere and then catching a late showing in London (depending on work commitments) but I am a little disappointed to be honest, does anyone else feel this way or not really?

The first showings should be in the late evening anyway - so you should be able to go to the red carpet and then settle in for the first showing at around 8:00-ish.

@antovolk yeah I might be able to do that, if I remember rightly me and my dad were coming away from the Skyfall premiere at around 8'o clock so it could be done.

And yet the script is on the Internet for quite a few months :)

Well, it shows that those who read the leaks are far more mature than many expected. And that you indeed have to fear mostly the general public and media as far as spoilers are concerned...

@Suivez_ce_parachute will the French première be on the 29th October, has that been confirmed? thanks
  • First time I hear about this 29th October date. It would be two weeks before the release, I doubt it. For Casino Royale, it was just the week end before.

This date was on the Commander James Bond France website and was wondering if this is official yet.

What we plan to do (hopefully) is open a thread for Reviews And Reactions, going live on 26th October. It will be full of spoilers of course but if it's just one thread with plenty of warnings, then hopefully the rest of the forum can be a safe haven for anyone who hasn't seen the movie.

Of course the best laid plans of mice and men etc...but we will try to shepherd everyone who has seen the film into the single thread to discuss the film.

Well again, it's not this site that I'm worried about. But I do appreciate the effort.

They announce an avant-premiere, not a premiere :) Ie : probably no stars, but then again you never know, but it's the kind of event where IMO you're more likely to get French members of the crews than Lea Seydoux.

It's not uncommon to have avant-premiere with no stars, but which are nevertheless done for PR purposes. An avant-premiere of Ant-Man happened days before the release in Fourmies, a town with 13.000 inhabitants, in France. No star, but they could have random people reactions for the PR for the movie, and you heard about the joke (Fourmi = Ant in French) on national TV.

There was a première in Paris for Skyfall so maybe there will be for one for SP too. Thanks for your response :)
  • There have been premieres in Paris (although after all, they're sometimes called avant-premiere too) for every Bond movie. The last two were in some venue on the Champs Elysées, quite a step down from the Grand Rex premiere for Casino Royale.

Crap. So that news about the UK getting it earlier is correct? Not that I have anything against our British friends getting it before us in principle, it's just that this'll be like '12 and '08 all over again where it's two weeks of bloody waiting, desperately trying to avoid spoilers while other Bond fans are going nuts talking about the movie to death.

Since this seems to be the release date thread, it looks like Australia is getting it on the 12th November from this official trailer release from Sony Pictures Australia
  • 007.com/spectre-advance-box-office-announcement/

At 07:00 UK time on Monday 7th September, the box-office for SPECTRE will open across the UK and Ireland, giving cinema audiences the opportunity to book their tickets in advance to see Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment’s SPECTRE.

For the first time ever, the film will open to the public on the same night as the World Premiere in London, giving audiences the opportunity to be the first in the world to see the hugely-anticipated 24th film in the James Bond franchise.

Following the World Premiere and release in the UK and Ireland on 26th October, SPECTRE will begin its rollout in territories around the world. The film will release in the US on November 6, 2015.
  • Sounds like Odeon cinemas will be doing something "special" for opening night:

Nothing planned by Cineworld, it would appear...

IMDB (not exactly a reliable source I know) says UK release October 23rd. That seems like it'd be pretty poor planning. A film out for two weeks in the UK before the US is going to be very widely pirated indeed. And as @Bondbat007 said, I'll have to avoid the forums as much as possible for those two weeks as spoilers will likely be everywhere. Hopefully that's inaccurate and the UK release will be no more than a few days before the global release.

I'm going to be in China at the time, but I haven't seen any info on a Chinese release.

I'm presently domiciled in Shanghai. Skyfall wasn't released in China until late January 2013 because the government likes to protect local productions and this will probably be the case for SPECTRE too. I can't get time off to go on holiday to another country in which to see the film until January either (the film most likely won't be screening in cinemas in most countries by this time either anyway) so I'm screwed both ways. Currently, China hasn't even been listed in the list of international release dates and probably won't be for a good while. I most likely won't see SPECTRE until almost 3 months after it has been released in The UK. LOL.

Would it be okay to have a non spoiler thread for SPECTRE reviews?

There's usually a spoiler allowed review thread and non-spoiler review thread after initial release anyway, at least that's been the case with the previous films

Yes indeedy. Not sure how it will look, but we may set up a thread to mark different aspects of the film out of ten. Then we can expend on the score without giving anything away....or summink like that

Thats good. I'll need the spoiler free thread as, due to a busy week, I won't get to see the movie until Friday 30th.
